Why did Love Island winner Sammy Root break up with Jess Harding?
SAMMY Root and Jess Harding won Love Island in the Summer of 2023, but their relationship didn’t last long in the real world.
Here we take a look at what happened between Jess and Sammy, who’s returning for All Stars as a bombshell in January 2025.
Jess Harding and Sammy Root had a rocky start in Love Island[/caption]Who is Sammy Root?
Born May 10, 2001, Sammy Root is a TV personality.
He is best known as the winner of the tenth season of Love Island in 2023, alongside Jess Harding.
The pair beat Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki in the final to win the £50,000 prize.
Before entering the villa, Sammy was a project manager.
Nowadays he’s an influencer and a Towie star who has collaborated with brands such as McDonald’s, Boohoo Man and Intimissimi.
Are Sammy Root and Jess Harding still together?
Despite being crowned the winners of Love Island 2023, Sammy and Jess are no longer in a relationship.
The winning couple split just two months after leaving the villa.
It was initially reported that the former islanders were close after leaving the show, even meeting each other’s families.
But sadly, despite being the fan favourites, they struggled to make their relationship last in the outside world.
Jess told him it was over by phone – choosing not to wait for a face to face conversation before making the news public in early December 2023.
Sammy was left stunned when news of their split leaked online while Jess was partying in Ibiza with pals.
Previously speaking about his breakup from Jess, Sammy said: “To be totally clear – I at least wanted a face to face conversation to see if our relationship could be saved and felt this would be a respectful way forward.
“We had the most incredible experience winning Love Island and I genuinely saw a future with Jess. I was committed and respectful to our relationship. Unfortunately things don’t always work out the way you’d hoped.”
Will Sammy Root be returning to Love Island All Stars 2025?
Sammy is waiting in the wings to re-enter the Love Island villa as a bombshell.
Taking a second shot at finding love, and fans are already excited to see if there’s a romance brewing between him and Elma Pazar.
Sammy has a past with Elma.
The pair met on the Towie circuit so his arrival could not come at a better time for her after Ronnie Vint ditched her for Harriett Blackmore.
A source said: “Elma has said the attraction with Sammy was nothing more than flirtation as she’s conscious they have an age gap of nearly 10 years, but Love Island execs hope under the South African sun, love could bloom.
“Sammy is pals with a few of the lads too including Casey and Ron so will slot right in.
“He’s All Stars’ second winner too, joining Ekin in that accolade.”
Elma isn’t the only Towie star Sammy previously had his eyes on.
On August 28, 2024, The Sun revealed that Sammy had “grown close” to lash technician Livvy Jay after joining the series in July.
The reality star is said to have wooed the brunette businessowner on a number of dates that were aired on the ITVBe show.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun at the time, Elma said: ” “Sammy is getting close to Livvy, she’s new and so is he.
“He’s getting close to her. I’ve known Sammy for a little while, I’ve met him on a few occasions and he’s a lovely boy.”
She laughed: “But he’s not interested in me, he doesn’t love me.”

MAD Vlad made a huge war blunder as one of his drones wiped out a £3.3million classic car collection owned by his corrupt ally.
The Moscow-aligned dodgy ex-Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych had his beloved vehicles destroyed by his mate.
A Putin drone destroyed one of his ally’s classic car collections[/caption] Debris from a drone wiped out nine classic cars and damaged 27[/caption] The cars belonged to former Ukrainian president and Putin-ally Viktor Yanukovych[/caption] The car collection revealed the ex-president’s extreme corruption[/caption]Yanukovych – who was toppled in 2014 – was given political asylum by the Kremlin dictator.
The Putin puppet, 74, stored his luxury car collection at a museum, which burst into flames after debris from a Kremlin drone destroyed the building.
This drone – believed to be an Iranian Shahed – was shot as it flew over the ex-president’s lavish estate Mezhyhirya in Kyiv region, valued at up to £800 million.
Nine cars were totally decimated by the debris while 27 were damaged.
Yanukovych’s extreme wealth was exposed as a symbol of the corruption he inflicted on Ukraine while in power.
After the leader was overthrown in the 2014 revolution, protesters stormed into his two-storey garage.
They discovered the multi-million pound collection of retro cars, mostly from the Soviet era.
His collection included a rare Russian-made ZiL 410441 cabriolet, used for parades, and two ZiL 41047s – the cars of top Soviet officials.
The museum also homed his Soviet-era GAZ 21 sedans and a rare convertible version of the GAZ 13 Chaika.
Yanukovych’s stock also included smaller personal vehicles like Soviet-era GAZ 21 sedans and a rare convertible version of the GAZ 13 Chaika.
Although the dodgy Ukrainian fled to Russia, he had a few special American cars in his stash.
These included a Studebaker US6, a Willys MB, a Dodge WC51, and a Dodge WC63.
Yanukovych has lived in Russia since he was ousted in 2014, so the dodgy leader has not seen his cars in 11 years.
VLAD’S BLUNDER
This has not been the first appalling drone mistake made by Mad Vlad’s men.

A terrifying video showed how the block erupted into flames after the weapon struck, in border region of Belgorod.
Russia attempted to blame the shock error on Ukraine, claiming it was a Spanish-made Columba drone launched by the Ukrainian armed forces.
But the Russian propaganda machine was soon caught out for blaming Ukraine for the strike when it was actually a wayward Russian-fired drone.
