‘Why are you cooking yourself’ – Rory McIlroy issues advice for Scottie Scheffler as PGA Tour star details horror injury

Rory McIroy had some words of advice for the world number one after learning of how the injury happened

But the two-time major winner is set to return at this week’s ‘Signature’ AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The nine-time 2024 winner revealed that he punctured his right hand with glass while making ravioli during the festive season before undergoing surgery to remove glass fragments from his palm.

Scheffler said he was pressing the pasta when a wine glass shattered prior to cutting his hand.

McIlroy’s first start of the American tour coincides with the return of Scheffler.

But after hearing about the injury, McIlroy had a question on Tuesday in his pre-tournament press conference at the iconic California venue.

Last year, Scheffler bagged north of $29 million in PGA Tour prize money.

And McIlroy wondered what Scheffler was doing cooking for himself before saying the Olympic gold winner has enough cash to have his own chef.

Speaking from Monterey Peninsula, he said: “I think he made enough money to hire a chef, It’s like – ‘why are you cooking yourself?”

“I was hoping it was going to be more of a fun story than that. We were together in Vegas on the 17th of December and played that match with Brooks and Bryson.

“Firstly – just concern – and hope he was OK. It sounds like he is. It’s good that he’s teeing it up this week.

“Yeah, get a chef.”

Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth is returning after wrist surgery.

The three-time major winner opted to take time out after missing last year’s FedEx Cup Playoffs to get the long-standing issue operated on.

All this week’s action is live on Sky Sports golf from Thursday afternoon.

Your laundry will look newer and brighter if you add one surprise kitchen staple to your washine machine drum

A PAIR of cleaning-daft mums have revealed their simple hack to make laundry look newer and more vibrant – and it only costs a penny.

Laundry experts have revealed that salt is the secret to keeping dark colours looking new[/caption]

The duo also own a launderette, so definitely know a thing or two about washing tricks.

In a recent post, the cleaning experts revealed that just a sprinkling of salt in the drum can help maintain your clothing’s colour while it spins round the washing machine.

They explained: “If you have black jeans or a [darks] wash and you want to keep it looking great and stop your blacks from fading, especially your jeans, get your jeans turned inside out and put a tablespoon full of salt in with you’re washing.

“It stops your blacks fading and it stops you getting all those lines up and down your jeans because the salt locks in the fabric dye that is already there.

“A wee spoonful of table salt in your washing and I can guarantee you, your blacks won’t fade.”

You can pick up a 750g tub of table salt from Aldi for as little as 65p, making this an extremely affordable hack.

Even better? There are 50 tablespoons in every tub meaning it only costs 1p per wash.

Hazel and Claire’s clip as already racked up more than 100,000 views, with social media users loving the hack.

One gushed: “I’ll definitely be trying this with my son’s black jeans. Thanks for the tip.”

A second revealed: “I’ve always put it in my black jeans pocket.”

“Brilliant. Thank you. Husband’s work trousers are black cargos”, wrote a third

Meanwhile, a fourth added: “I always use salt with black clothes.”

Hazel and Claire run their own launderette and shop in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, called The Laundry Room.

The duo are also a viral sensation on TikTok (@theweescottycleaners) thanks to their cleaning hacks – with their videos earning them millions of views.

The cleaning fanatics have since launched their very own cleaning product – a Pro Glass Cleaner that leaves the perfect streak-free finish.

Arsenal player ratings: David Raya saves all three-points for Arsenal but Trossard’s woeful deliveries an issue again

ARSENAL finally won a match with ten-men after Myles Lewis-Skelly was controversially sent off.

It was the Gunners’ fourth sending off this season and they had not won any of their matches without 11 players this term.

But Arsenal showed their character and battled past Wolves 1-0.

Here is how SunSport rated the players’ performances.

DAVID RAYA – 8/10

Very little to do until the 63rd minute when he brilliantly tipped a deflected Matheus Cunha effort wide. He then stopped Rayan Ait-Nouri in a one-on-one in the 84th minute.

MYLES LEWIS-SKELLY – 6

Was having another fine game before being the victim of one of most ludicrous red cards in Prem history. His cynical trip was worthy of a yellow and nothing more.

WILLIAM SALIBA – 7

Arsenal just look so solid with him in this backline. A welcome return from a minor hamstring injury. Kept Cunha at bay.

GABRIEL – 7

Led from the front and put his body on the line. Constantly headed away from danger.

JURRIEN TIMBER – 6

Hit with some nasty challenges that required treatment – including one that had Joao Gomes sent off – but carried on playing and was resolute.

DECLAN RICE – 7

More of a goal threat than in recent weeks and stood up when Arsenal needed him.

THOMAS PARTEY – 7

Steady Eddie for most parts back in his favoured midfield position after spells at right-back this season. Displayed his importance to this side once more.

ETHAN NWANERI – 6

Unfortunately made way at half-time as a sacrificial lamb following Lewis-Skelly’s sending off. Was a lively, creative spark in the first-half.

LEANDRO TROSSARD – 5

In the absence of Bukayo Saka, the Belgian is on corner-taking duty, but his deliveries were woeful. A quiet afternoon that sums up why he is in and out of the team currently.

GABRIEL MARTINELLI – 6

Was lacking that clinical edge in the first half, but came up with the cross after the break that led to Arsenal’s vital opener.

KAI HAVERTZ – 7

Missed two glorious first half chances with his head and another in the second half, but worked tirelessly on his own – especially with Arsenal down to ten.

SUBS:

RICCARDO CALAFIORI (NWANERI, 45) – 8

The sort of goal that keeps title dreams alive. Added real height and danger aerially, as well as a sweet volley from a tough angle.

KIERAN TIERNEY (MARTINELLI, 87) – N/A
