Watch horror moment giant fish BITES mermaid’s head leaving crowd screaming in terror as aquarium show goes wrong
THIS is the horrific moment a giant fish attacks a young mermaid performer’s head in front of frightened children.
Harrowing footage caught the dramatic incident where a crowd in an aquarium watched a Russian female performer get her head nearly chomped off.
Masha, 22, was performing as a mermaid in a large fish tank[/caption] A big fish attacked her whilst she was swimming[/caption] The Russian animator was attacked on 28 January[/caption]The attack took place at Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park, an aquarium in China’s Yunnan Province, where 22-year-old mermaid animator Masha works.
The performer can be seen making waves in an elegant routine among other large beasts in the tank before she is suddenly interrupted.
The devious fish can be seen quietly creeping up on her before it quickly seizes the swimmer’s skull in its large jaws.
It appears to be a sturgeon, a fish that can grow up to 20 feet in length and are known to sometimes attack humans.
Luckily, the swimmer pulls away seconds later and hastily swims up towards the surface heading for an escape.
Viewers, including some children, were left shocked as they gasped at the nearly devastating ordeal.
Her head, neck and eye were wounded by the massive creature while her nose clips and goggles were not so lucky as they were eaten.
Russian media said that the distressed woman was even forced back to work soon after, despite being left in severe pain after the bite.
She was offered £78 in compensation for “moral damages” but was barred from talking about it as bosses at the site tried to cover it up.
The freshwater aquarium features native species of fish from the Mekong and Yangtze Rivers, as well as many other rare amphibians.
Masha’s employers called her repeatedly warning of the consequences of posting the video online.
But their attempts to destroy the story proved futile after one of the disturbed spectators posted their point of view on TikTok’s sister app in China Douyin.
One user joked: “It’s normal to have some conflicts between colleagues.”
Another speculated: “I feel like this girl won’t be working as a mermaid anymore.”

“A little difficult to find your way around inside as not many English signs.
“There is also a 7D cinema which is well worth doing, kids will love it.”
Last year in Brazil 15 people bathing in a river were injured after being attacked by piranhas.
Firefighters had to take at least four of them to hospital.

A FORMER Fianna Fail councillor has appeared in court charged with the harassment of a female.
Joseph O’Donovan, formerly known as Gary O’Flynn, appeared before Cork District Court today charged with one count of harassment.
The alleged offence, which is contrary to Section 10 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997, occurred on three dates between July 30 and August 6, 2022.
The DPP has directed summary disposal of the matter.
Defence solicitor Frank Buttimer made an application for statements in the case, which was granted.
Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case to March 12 next.
Mr O’Donovan, with an address at Melvindale House, Coolowen, Blarney, Cork was remanded on bail until his next court appearance.
Judge Dorgan will decide whether she will accept jurisdiction in the case on the next occasion.
Mr O’Donovan, 49, is the son of former TD Noel O’Flynn, who served in the constituency of Cork North Central from 1997 until his retirement in 2011.
He recently returned to politics at a council level.
Joseph O’Donovan was a sitting councillor in Cork city from 2003 to 2008, when he was known as Gary O’Flynn.
He took his father’s old seat on the council in 2003 when the dual mandate ban – which prevented Oireachtas members from sitting on local councils – came in to force.
He concluded his political career five years later with his seat going to his brother, Ken, who recently became an Independent Ireland TD in Cork North Central.
Noel O’Flynn has taken up the city council seat vacated by his son Ken.

JAMES May’s return to TV has been revealed following The Grand Tour’s cancellation – and it couldn’t be more different.

“We all think we know the basic pub facts about these three great men, but the reality may come as a bit of a surprise. It certainly was to me.”
James’ new series comes after his ‘Our Man In’ travel series was axed by Prime Video last year.
He revealed the decision to axe the show was not his as he launched a foul-mouthed swipe at bosses.
Discussing the news of the show being cancelled, the petrol-head said: “Well, they just didn’t want it anymore, miserable b*****ds.”
Our Man In saw James visit Japan for its first series, before he turned his attention to Italy.
The third and now final series, which landed on Prime Video at the start of this year, focused on his travels across India.

THE HISTORY OF PENNEYS
THE Penneys brand grew from humble beginnings on Dublin's Mary Street, where it opened its first store in 1969.
Known as Primark outside Ireland, the company was the brainchild of Garfield Weston, who hired Dubliner Arthur Ryan to make his vision reality.
Penneys branched into the UK in 1973 with its first store opening in Derby. The UK now has 191 Primark stores in total.
However, the Penneys name could not travel to Britain as the American retailer JC Penney had the right to use the name in the region.
And in 2006, the expansion into Europe began with an opening in Spain, followed by the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Austria, France and Italy.
Primark went Stateside for the first time in September 2015, with the opening of a store in Boston. There are now 27 stores in America with branches in Florida, Brooklyn, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The retailer’s opened its largest store in Birmingham in 2019.
It spans five floors and features Primark’s biggest beauty studio to date, a barbers and three restaurants.
