Inside Chloe Burrows’ romance with Welsh hunk she met through Love Island co-star as they enjoy SECOND holiday together

CHLOE Burrows has jetted off on her second holiday with her new man after meeting him through her Love Island co-star.

The influencer and podcast host, 29, is now in Dubai with the Welsh hunk and sources have told The Sun they “get on like a house on fire.”

Earlier this week, Chloe went public with her new man, Ruben Moreira, as she moves on from her former romance with Toby Aromolaran, 25.

Now they are enjoying their next sun-soaked getaway and a source was first to tell us: “It’s early days for Chloe and Ruben but they have known each other a while through Liam Reardon and they get on like a house on fire.

“They holidayed in Australia together in a big group at the start of the year and romance blossomed there.

“Now they are on holiday together in Dubai, so it’s heating up.

“Chloe thinks he’s gorgeous and she knows he’s a decent bloke as she trusts Liam wouldn’t be mates with someone who wasn’t a good guy.”

Chloe has now taken to her Instagram Stories to capture their cute date night at Shimmers eatery, with a plate of fresh fish and salad seen on the table.

Another snap saw her posing for a sultry selfie with the caption: “Get me to bed with some Brooklyn Nine Nine now.”

Previously, following her festive getaway to Australia, she hailed their trip: “The actual best place in the world with the best people in the world.”

Chloe, who shot to fame on Love Island’s 2021 season, posted a picture on her Instagram Stories of her and Ruben just last week.

Fans immediately took this to mean she was “soft launching” her new relationship.

Taking to Reddit, one wrote: “Love that for her. That’s literally so fun for the four of them as friends, hope it all works out!!”

While another said: “So happy for Chloe.”

This one added: “This is great news.”

Chloe met Ruben through fellow Love Island 2021 co-star Liam Reardon, as the two men are friends.

Good Morning Britain in chaos as Boris Johnson abruptly WALKS OFF mid-way through interview live on air

BORIS Johnson caused chaos on Good Morning Britain after suddenly walking out of his live interview.

The ex-PM, 60, was speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley live from Kyiv to mark three years since Russia invaded Ukraine.

It comes as world leaders are gathering today in an effort to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Susanna admitted she was shocked to see Johnson in the war zone, telling him: “This is a bit of surprise that you’ve turned up in Kyiv.

It’s a big day, of course, because world leaders are having this call about what to do about Ukraine. What do you think should happen?”

Johnson rubbished claims Ukraine are to blame for the war after US President Donald Trump accused leader Volodymyr Zelensky of “talking the US into spending $350m on aid”.

Instead, the former Tory leader said he believes the minerals agreement between the US and Ukraine is close to being signed.

“That commits the US not only to future financing of Ukraine but also to a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine under Donald Trump,” he said, adding: “That is not to be sneezed at, it’s a very important commitment…”

Johnson then dramatically announced he was ending the interview.

“Anyways, I’ve got to love you and leave you,” he muttered while wrestling with his ear piece.

However, keen to carry on the conversation, Madeley interjected: “As a former prime minister, how do you deal with an American president who says that black is white. How do you talk to him?”

Clearly in a hurry, Johnson responded: “You have to keep knocking the ball back over the net.”

He then walked out of shot as Reid said: “Thank you very much indeed for your time this morning. Just disentangling himself from our microphone and off he goes.”

She went on to announce: “Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson tells this programme there is a deal to be done over Ukraine, and now is the time for the UK to step up in negotiations with the US.”

Madeley added: “He was speaking here live just a few minutes ago, predicting that there will be a deal in the next couple of days between America and Ukraine over mineral rights, which effectively, he says, will put America back with skin in the game. Big Game changer.

“Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, of course, has said that he’ll step down from his job if it guarantees peace, so a lot happening today.”

Zelenksy made the announcement yesterday, emphasising he would quit in exchange for peace or Nato membership.

It comes as Trump and warmongering Russian President Vladimir Putin hold peace talks without Kyiv at the table.

The Ukrainian president said on Sunday: “If it’s about peace in Ukraine and you really want me to leave my position, I am ready to do that [in exchange for peace].

“Secondly I can exchange it for Nato [membership].

“If there is such an opportunity I’ll do it immediately without a long conversation about it.”

He emphasised that Ukraine’s security was his priority, not staying in office, adding that it was not his “dream” to remain president for a decade.

Zelensky’s remarks came after Trump branded him a “dictator” for not holding an election during the war.

Elections in Ukraine have been banned under martial law amid Putin’s ongoing illegal invasion.

But reports have emerged that Ukraine may be forced to hold elections before any final peace agreement with Russia is reached, according to The Telegraph.

Trump, who has repeatedly boasted he could end the war within “24 hours,” said the demand for elections “came from me” and appeared to blame Ukraine for not reaching a deal sooner.

“You’ve been there for three years… You should have never started it. You could have made a deal,” he said.

Kyiv and Europe were last week iced out of the beginning of peace talks between the US and Russia – which sparked diplomatic turmoil between Ukraine and Washington.

After lashing out at Zelensky, Trump later insisted he “trusts” that Russia wants peace before again calling Zelensky a “dictator”.

At a press conference today, Zelensky said he wasn’t offended by Trump’s jibe.

He said: “I wasn’t offended, but a dictator would be. I’m not. I’m the legally election president.”

Zelensky also said he wants to see Trump as a partner to Ukraine and more than a simply a mediator between Kyiv and Moscow.

“I want very much from Trump understanding of each other,” he added.

The Ukrainian president said an “important meeting” of world leaders would take place on Monday, the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion.

He hinted that major decisions could emerge from the summit, which will include 13 nations attending in person and 24 joining online.

“Tomorrow’s summit is crucial. It might even be a turning point—we’ll see,” he said.

‘One of the strangest things I’ve ever seen on any stage’ – ‘Bizarre’ moment darts star offers rival advice mid-final

FANS have been left baffled after darts veteran Ross Montgomery coached his opponent during their final.

The 62-year-old Scot beat Graham Usher 5-1 on Saturday night to win the World Seniors Championship.

The match turned at 1-1 after Usher missed a whopping TEN set darts to move ahead.

During the horror leg, Montgomery bizarrely gave his rival advice in an awkward exchange.

Usher was visibly frustrated after his seventh miss, taking a brief moment to pause and wipe his palms with a towel.

Montgomery went over to him and the pair briefly spoke.

Usher returned to the oche and fired another three off target before the man nicknamed “The Boss” kept his composure to wrap up the leg on double top.

Montgomery then approached the 51-year-old and again said something while this time pointing to his head.

Usher looked confused and pulled a perplexed face down the camera.

Fans were left equally baffled, with one saying: “Genuinely one of strangest and most patronising things I’ve seen on any darts stage.”

Another added: “How odd.”

A third wrote: “Utter madness.”

Explaining the move, Montgomery said: “Graham has kicked my a*** many times because he’s a fantastic player. I told him on stage ‘Graham, just calm down and be yourself son’.

“If you win, you win. Just calm down. This is all about a game of darts.

“Graham is a fantastic player; he will be back. He will be kicking backsides.”

It was not the only strange interaction Usher was involved at the World Seniors Championship over the weekend, approaching opponent Leonard Gates and giving him a death stare on stage.

My daily cocaine habit left me blowing chunks of skin out my nose before it collapsed leaving a gaping hole in my face

A WOMAN has issued a stark cocaine warning after snorting so much her nose collapsed – leaving a gaping hole in her face.

Kelly Kozyra was on a night out in 2017 when she was offered a line of cocaine by a friend.

Kelly’s septum completely deteriorated and she got a hole on the outside of her face which grew to the size of a dime[/caption]

Within a matter of months, the 38-year-old said she was using the class-A drug day and night – swapping out eating and sleeping to fuel her drug habit.

Kelly, who lives in Chicago, Illinois, US, soon began experiencing bleeding within her nose and was even blowing out chunks of skin from her nostrils.

Convinced the injury would heal itself, Kelly continued to snort cocaine daily, forking out a mammoth $80,000 (around £63,200) over 19 months on the party drug.

Shocking photos reveal the state of Kelly’s eroded nasal septum, which had formed one large hole and deformed the shape of her nose.

Kelly compared the look of her nose to that of reality star Daniella Westbrook whose long-term drug addiction led to the rotting of her septum.

After interventions from friends and family, Kelly decided to live a sober life in 2021 and has since undergone 15 surgeries to help reconstruct her damaged nose.

Kelly, who plans on becoming a substance abuse counsellor, hopes her story inspires other users struggling with addiction.

Kelly said: “I met back with some old friends and ended up using cocaine with someone there.

“I began using cocaine day and night. I wasn’t eating, I wasn’t sleeping. I was holding a job but eventually I had to quit.

“I’d been using cocaine for three months daily when I started experiencing bleeding in my nose and was blowing out chunks of skin, then noticed the septum was deteriorating.

“I thought this couldn’t happen to me and I wasn’t doing that much but I was doing a hell of a lot.

“I thought it would just heal itself, but I still continued snorting. The septum completely deteriorated. Then I got a hole on the outside of my face, which grew to the size of a dime.

“Eventually I had to shove my pinky up my nose to hold all the cocaine up there so I didn’t lose it out the hole.

“My nose looked similar to Daniella Westbrook. I got lucky that it was during Covid and everyone was wearing masks so no one could see my face.

“I kept telling people I had a sinus infection and was lying my way through it. I was horrified by the way it looked.

It destroyed everything in my life, including my nose

Kelly Kozyra

“It destroyed everything in my life, including my nose.”

Kelly has since undergone 15 reconstructive surgeries to help restore her nose, including moving skin from her forehead to create a new tip and taking an artery from her arm to rebuild the blood supply from her cheek to her nose.

Kelly said: “It looks like a nose now. This entire experience has taught me so much. Now I live day by day, that’s how we’re taught to live through the programme.

“I don’t have any plans of relapsing or using. I think being open about it helps me and other people. The more we talk about drug use, the less stigmatised it becomes.”

Are you addicted to cocaine?

The UK Addiction Treatment Centres says if you’re worried you or someone you know may be addicted to cocaine, there are some questions to ask yourself:

  • Are you using cocaine more frequently or in larger amounts than you intended?
  • Do you feel unable to stop taking cocaine even though you want to?
  • Have your personal relationships suffered as a result of your cocaine use?
  • Have you been lying to friends or family about your cocaine use?
  • Do you continue to take cocaine even though it’s causing problems in your life?
  • Do you experience physical or mental health issues such as anxiety, depression or paranoia as a result of your cocaine use?
  • Do you experience cocaine withdrawal if you haven’t used it for a while?
  • Have you lost interest in activities that don’t involve cocaine?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, you may be exhibiting signs of cocaine addiction and you should seek immediate help.

EastEnders viewers ‘work out’ Sonia Fowler’s exit as major character makes comeback after Martin’s harrowing death

EASTENDERS fans think they’ve cracked Sonia Fowler’s departure as a familiar face returns following Martin’s tragic death.

Following Martin Fowler’s tragic death, fans have speculated over which remaining members of the Fowler family will return for his funeral and how Sonia Fowler will exit the BBC soap.

Sonia’s daughter Bex is returning after receiving the devastating news about her dad Martin’s death[/caption]

EastEnders bosses have confirmed that Vicki Fowler – Martin’s niece – will be returning, but with a new actress taking on the role.

And confirmed fans’ hopes that Bex Fowler, Martin’s daughter, will return to Walford for his funeral, after leaving in 2020.

Following a first look clip released on Sunday, Bex’s mum Sonia calls her daughter to give her the devastating news.

Sitting up in her hospital bed, an emotional Sonia called her daughter and asked if she was with anyone.

After Bex replied, Sonia said: “I’m not snooping Bex, It’s just I, erm, I need to tell you something and it would be really lovely if there was a friend with you there right now.”

Sonia continued: “Oh god I really wish I was there with you now darlin’. It’s about your dad.”

Sonia struggled to contain her tears as she said: “There was an accident, urm…. and he died darlin’.”

As Bianca and Lauren stand at the foot of her hospital bed in tears – with Lauren cradling baby Julia – Sonia told Bex: “No it’s real. He died and urm…. I’m so sorry.”

Martin died after a steel beam crushed him, after Cindy caused Reiss to crash into the Queen Vic, which ignited a fire and explosion.

Bex was last played by Jasmine Armfield from 2014 to 2020, when the character decided to have a gap year before attending Oxford university and travel the world.

Bex will jet in after years spent travelling the world to be with her mum and the rest of the family as they lay Martin to rest.

The tragedy will hit Bex hard as she tries to adjust to everything that’s happened in her absence, including Sonia’s incarceration for murder and the arrival of her newborn sister.

Now, soap fans are convinced Bex’s return will lead to Sonia’s exit storyline, as she will decide to leave to live with her.

Taking to social media, one fan predicted: “I think this’ll tie in with mum Sonia’s departure.”

Most devastating soap deaths

SOAP viewers are frequently left heartbroken after watching some of their favourite characters bite the dust.

Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years.

EASTENDERS

Barry Evans – Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying.

Her plan to inherit Barry’s fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files.

Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was “fake”.

Bradley Branning – Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater’s rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died.

He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape.

Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death.

CORONATION STREET

Tina McIntyre – Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow – despite him being married to Carla Connor.

When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla’s brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her.

Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony – then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her.

In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe.

Molly Dobbs – Molly was one of the victims in Corrie’s 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold).

Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death.

This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth.

As fate would have it, Kevin’s wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly’s side in her final moments.

Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack’s father, before dying of her injuries.

Vera Duckworth – Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character.

Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap’s most beloved couples.

Viewers were heartbroken when Vera was killed off in 2008, being discovered having passed away peacefully in her chair.

Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey’s exit as Jack.

Paul Foreman – Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease.

Introduced in 2018 as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance – and marriage – with vicar Billy Mayhew.

The MND storyline was announced in 2023 – with the expectation it would result in the character’s death.

EMMERDALE

Sarah Sugden – After the family got into financial problems, Sarah’s son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn.

He didn’t realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze.

Nine villagers – The shocking 1993 plane crash episode brought in 18 million viewers for Emmerdale.

Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash.

Five other non-recurring characters from the village also died.

HOLLYOAKS

Carmel McQueen – The talented singer died in shocking scenes when a train crashed into a her family’s car.

Carmel managed to free her cousin Theresa from the rubble – but got stuck in it herself.

Moments later the train exploded and Carmel died in the arms of her family members, promising to be their guardian angel.

Another added: “Bex will most likely persuade Sonia to move with her.”

A third penned: “I hope this means we can see Sonia and Julia heading off with Bex for a fresh start.”

Sonia Fowler actress Natalie Cassidy, 41, told bosses of her decision to leave the hit BBC One soap last summer.

Natalie, who joined the EastEnders back in 1993, aged just ten years, said: “I feel extremely sad to be writing this, but also very excited.

“After another 11 solid years back on The Square, I have decided it’s time to move on to pastures new. EastEnders is in my bones so I will never forget where I started my career and I will continue to love the show.

“Thank you to Chris Clenshaw for the opportunity to be such a big part of the 40th anniversary – it’s an honour. See ya, Sonia, going but never forgotten.”

Speaking of Bex’s return, EastEnders Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jasmine home to EastEnders as part of Martin’s farewell.

“There’s no way that Bex would miss her dad’s funeral, and Sonia needs her eldest daughter more than ever.

“It’s been five years in which Bex has gone out into the world, so she’ll come back with renewed wisdom and experience.”

On her return as Bex Fowler, Jasmine Armfield said: “It’s wonderful to be back at EastEnders and to see so many familiar faces.

“It’s amazing for me to come home, but for Bex, it’s an absolutely devastating time because she’s lost her dad.

“She’s grown up a lot, having spent the past few years travelling, so we’re going to see a much more mature and grown-up version of Bex this time around.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One or stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer.

Dream Team’s top midfielder continues to deliver plentiful points despite Manchester United’s weaknesses

WHERE would Manchester United be without Bruno Fernandes (£6.2m)?

The Red Devils are languishing in 15th having mustered just 30 points from 26 games in the Premier League this season and yet their club captain is now Dream Team’s best-performing midfielder.

Dream Team’s new midfield king[/caption]

A 16-point haul at Goodison Park meant Fernandes leapfrogged Cole Palmer (£5.8m) to go third in the rankings overall at the weekend, behind superstar forwards Mohamed Salah (£8.3m) and Erling Haaland (£8.1m).

It seemed as if Ruben Amorim’s side were going to suffer their third consecutive defeat in the top flight when they went 2-0 down to Everton after 33 minutes.

However, the Portuguese playmaker inspired the visitors to a second-half comeback with a sweetly struck free-kick, followed eight minutes later by Manuel Ugarte’s (£3m) equaliser.

One could reflect upon Man United’s weaknesses for hours on end but Dream Team managers should focus on Fernandes’ impressive returns when weighing up his viability.

He is statistically the most in-form midfielder in the game right now having banked 34 points in his last three outings.

Manchester United are ultra reliant on their skipper[/caption]

Fernandes has scored ten goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions this season but that tally only tells half the story.

The 30-year-old is primarily an attack-minded midfielder but only seven players in his position have made more tackles, most of them being combative ball-winners who contribute few goal involvements.

He also ranks ninth in his position for shots on target and third for big chances created.

Factor in 27 bonus points, seven of which have come in his last three outings, and it’s no wonder Fernandes has worked his way up to the top of the midfield rankings.

Granted, he has played ten games more than Palmer and seven more than third-placed Bryan Mbeumo (£4.7m) but the fact he takes on such a high workload is what makes him such an appealing Dream Team asset.

From Amorim’s point of view, his over reliance on Fernandes is a huge concern but it’s a helpful factor for Dream Team bosses as it ensures minutes on the pitch.

Gameweek 25 is only half complete as there’s a full round of Premier League fixtures to come in midweek, with Man United set to host 18th-placed Ipswich on Wednesday night.

Looking further ahead, Fernandes might be among a tiny minority of players who plays twice in Gameweek 26.

Man United and Aston Villa are the only two teams set to pull double duty on account of them still being active in the FA Cup and their respective European competitions.

The former are due to face Fulham and Real Sociedad in quick succession – can Amorim really afford to go without Fernandes in either fixture given the current situation at Old Trafford?

Fernandes looks to be a smart option for Gameweek 26[/caption]

It’s early days but Fernandes, who features in 19.6% of teams, is currently the most popular recruit ahead of the Gameweek 26 deadline.

Another bumper haul against the Tractor Boys will only boost his popularity further.

Katie Price fans say ‘she looks so unwell’ as they beg family to step over weight loss as she posts worrying new video

KATIE Price’s fans begged for an intervention over her weight loss after she showed her legs in a black dress.

The TV personality has sparked concern over her changing appearance following her recent surgery.

Katie, 46, spoke out on her podcast, insisting she piled on the pounds while undergoing IVF and has simply returned to her “normal” size.

However, those watching her new video claimed she is becoming “unwell before our eyes”.

Her latest post on Instagram was flooded with comments from worried followers.

One concerned fan said: “I’m really really shocked at how unwell Katie looks.

“Please look after yourself Katie, you are a very strong lady and your body deserves strength too !!”

Another echoed: “Please if this was my friend I’d be doing an intervention …. Someone who loves her please help her… this is like a tragedy waiting to happen for all to watch! This is not ok.”

“Her legs are so thin! If she carries on like this I don’t think she’ll be long for this world. Absolute tragedy,” another fan said.

One more complained: “I’m not hating before people jump on me but she seems to really need help.”

It comes after Katie revealed she has cancelled plans to make her bum look bigger with surgery.

She revealed she will not be undergoing further surgery to have another BBL and is planning to enlarge her behind through hardwork in the gym instead.

Katie has slimmed down a lot since the end of last year – but got bum filler recently.

Insisting it is not the result of popular weight loss jabs such as Ozempic, she says she has just “shrunk back” to her natural size after gaining weight from IVF and from being inactive following her foot injury in 2020

Katie’s loved ones, however, are still concerned.

A source told OK! magazine: “Her friends and family are worried about her as she has lost a lot of weight very quickly, and she wants to go back under the knife for more work.

“She wants to have her ears corrected and her bum lifted with filler, but people who care about her are worried that she’s not healthy or strong enough to be going on an operating table.”

Katie has had 17 boob jobs and six face lifts over a 26-year period.

It is believed she has spent £500,000 on surgeries and procedures but is still aiming to turn herself into a human Bratz doll.

Referencing the noughties dolls, who all had enlarged lips, Katie said last year: “I will never stop with this surgery, I want to be a Bratz doll.

“It’s my body and I do what I want to do. That’s how it should be, our body, your choice.”

Fresh hope for catching Alzheimer’s early as the way you BREATHE could hold clues about your risk

THE way you breathe may hold clues about your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, scientists have found.

The discovery could “open up a whole new world in the study of Alzheimer’s” and herald new ways of detecting and treating the disease early, they said.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia in the UK and it’s characterised by a build-up of toxic proteins in the brain called amyloid and tau.

But research increasingly suggests that blood supply to the brain is “important for disease progression”.

A new study – lead by researchers at Lancaster University – suggests that changes in oxygen supply to the brain can contribute to the degeneration of nerve cells, leading to Alzheimer’s.

Lead author professor Aneta Stefanovska explained: “Alzheimer’s can be hypothesised as being a result of the brain not being appropriately nourished via the blood vessels.”

Scientists examined changes in the brain’s neurovascular unit – which consists of blood vessels connected to neurons via brain cells called astrocytes – in people with the brain robbing condition.

But they made a surprising discovery along the way, finding that people with Alzheimer’s disease tended to breathe more quickly than healthy participants, even when they were at rest.

Thirty-nine people of a similar age participated in the study, published in the journal Brain Communications.

Nineteen of them had Alzheimer’s disease, while the remaining 20 didn’t have the brain robbing condition.

Researchers measured blood flow to their brain and electrical activity by connecting probes to their scalp and conducting an electrocardiogram.

Participants also had a belt wrapped around their chest to monitor their heart rate and breathing.

Dr Bernard Meglič, clinical coordinator of the study, explained: “The vascular system and the brain work together to ensure that the brain receives sufficient energy.

“In fact, the brain needs as much as 20 per cent of the body’s overall energy consumption despite contributing only about 2 per cent of the body’s weight.”

Scientists observed that people with Alzheimer’s disease had lower levels of brain oxygenation, indicating changes the the way blood is supplied to the brain.

They also found that people with the memory robbing disease had a faster breathing rate.

Alzheimer’s patients had approximately 17 breaths per minute, whereas the people in the control group breathed about 13 times per minute, researchers observed.

Professor Stefanovska said: “Quite unexpectedly, we also detected that the respiratory frequency at rest is significantly higher in subjects with Alzheimer’s disease.

“This is an interesting discovery – in my opinion a revolutionary one – that may open a whole new world in the study of the Alzheimer’s disease.

“It most likely reflects an inflammation, maybe in the brain, that once detected can probably be treated and severe states of Alzheimer’s might be prevented in the future.”

Ways to lower your risk of Alzheimer's

There are things you can do to reduce your own risk of developing dementia, including Alzheimer's.

No single behaviour is guaranteed to prevent dementia – but there’s lots of evidence to suggest that making tweaks to your lifestyle choices could affect your risk.

Dementia risk is lowest in people who have healthy behaviours in mid-life – from the age of 40 to 65 – according Alzheimer’s Society.

Here are a few easy changes you can make:

  1. Exercise regularly to boost your heart health and circulation and help maintain a healthy weight.
  2. Drink less alcohol – try to have no more than 14 units of alcohol a week, about one pint of beer or a small glass of wine each day. If you regularly drink much more than this, you are increasing your risk of damage to your brain and other organs, and so increasing your risk of dementia.
  3. Don’t smoke – it does a lot of harm to the circulation of blood around the body, particularly the blood vessels in the brain, as well as the heart and lungs.
  4. Engaging in social activities to help to build up your brain’s ability to relieve stress and improve your mood – depression and social isolation have both been linked to dementia.
  5. Manage health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes, which can increase the risk of getting dementia.
  6. Protect your eyesight and hearing – vision loss increases a person’s risk of developing dementia. The same goes for hearing loss, which can also be an early symptom of dementia.
  7. Wear a helmet – as traumatic brain injuries  can start a process in the brain where the substances that cause Alzheimer’s disease build up around the injured area.

Researchers said “respiratory dysfunction” had been observed in previous studies of people with Alzheimer’s.

“A previous study found that a higher respiration rate was linked to cognitive impairment,” they wrote.

“Another study found that both Alzheimer’s disease and controls had similar breathing rates of around 18 breaths/min.

“Further investigations are needed to confirm whether or not a higher respiration rate is common in Alzheimer’s disease patients.”

Dr Meglič said researchers findings regarding blood circulation and blood supply to the brain were “promising targets for future treatments of Alzheimer’s disease”.

Professor Stefanovska added: “We show clear results of our approach and how Alzheimer’s can be detected simply, noninvasively, and inexpensively.

“The method has a great potential, and we are discussing possibilities to create a spin-out or start-up company to proceed with it.”

Previous research has suggested that factors like walking speed and navigational ability could be affected by Alzheimer’s – serving as a way to detect the disease years before other symptoms show.

Other major Alzheimer's breakthroughs

While experts have warned that dementia diagnoses in England have reached record numbers, there have been a number of recent advances against brain robbing diseases.

From “game-changing” drugs gaining approval to blood tests that can spot the condition years before symptoms, here are other major Alzheimer’s breakthroughs.

  • A “game-changing” Alzheimer’s drug called donanemab, that slows mental decline by up to 60 per cent has been approved in the United States. A UK decision on whether the drug will become available to patients in the UK with early symptoms is expected imminently.
  • A blood test that detects Alzheimer’s up to 15 years before symptoms emerge is set to be made free on the NHS within a year. The new test is cheaper, easier and at least as accurate as the current diagnosis options and works by measuring levels of a protein in the blood called p-tau217.
  • Researchers have developed a first-of-its-kind test that could predict dementia up to nine years before a diagnosis, with 80 per cent accuracy. It involves analysing network of connections in the brain when it’s in “idle mode” to look for very early signs of the condition.
  • A woman who has evaded Alzheimer’s disease despite half her relatives getting it could hold the clues to how to prevent it, with scientists pinpointing a particular gene which they think could help prevent Alzheimer’s from progressing.
