‘Blue Bloods’ Cast Shares Tributes to Tom Selleck on His 80th Birthday After Ending the Show

The Blue Bloods cast is celebrating the 80th birthday of star Tom Selleck with sweet tributes posted on Instagram.

“Missing this guy so much. Wishing him the happiest of birthdays! #80,” Bridget Moynahan, who played Tom’s onscreen daughter Erin Reagan for 14 seasons of the show, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, January 29.

Donnie Wahlberg, who played Danny Reagan, took to his Instagram Stories to show his love for his onscreen dad, writing, “Happy birthday Tom a.k.a. Dad,” alongside a photo of the pair together and a series of emojis.

“Happy birthday, boss! Sure do miss being your Gal Friday! #80 #bluebloods #frankandbaker,” Abigail Hawk, Tom’s frequent Blue Bloods scene partner wrote in a post on her Instagram page.

Fans of the police procedural drama, which aired its series finale on December 13, 2024, also showed their love for Tom in social media comments.

“Wow. 80 is the new 60. Miss your show so much,” one person commented underneath Bridget’s birthday tribute for Tom.

Another person wrote, “Just love him!! Happy birthday Tom! Magnum PI is still a fav!!!”

“Happy Birthday to Tom Selleck who played Thomas Sullivan Magnum on Magnum, P.I. from 1980 – 1988. This was the first show to portray Vietnam Veterans and PTSD in a meaningful, insightful way. Magnum, P.I. was an extremely influential part of my childhood…as evidenced by the fact that I patterned my life after it…” Jack Carr wrote in a post on X, asking fans if they have a favorite episode of the show.

“Too many great episodes to recount – such a great show,” one person responded, while another said, “Home from the Sea, is exceptional and pretty daring for a show like Magnum P.I. I think that was the episode that won Tom Selleck an Emmy. The script for this episode was so intense that Tom opted to film it in the deep ocean with safety divers rather than a studio water tank.”

As for how Tom spent his special day, an insider told Closer that he planned to celebrate with his family.

“He’s seen and lived through a lot, and he feels rather fortunate to be here to talk about it,” an insider exclusively told Closer earlier this month. “Sure, he wasn’t happy with Blue Bloods getting canceled, but he wants to focus on the positive and ring in 80 with smiles and laughter and not dwell on the negative stuff.”

The source said that Tom’s wife, Jillie Mack, and his daughter, Hannah Selleck, were looking to invite some of his Blue Bloods costars to the low-key festivities.

“His wife and daughter are planning a big celebration at the farm with friends over to celebrate Tom and toast to his health and maybe roast him a little, too, all in good fun,” the insider said. “No doubt, some people from the show will be invited, like Donnie and Bridget, which Tom will like very much. They’re all like family to him.”

These days, Tom enjoys spending time on his California ranch property as he looks forward to finding his next project.

“He’s had some mobility issues, as everyone knows, but he’s working really hard to tackle that,” a friend of the star told Closer. “Tom likes to walk around his ranch, which is why getting his knees back in shape was so important to him.”
