Just one month after Ben Affleck and ex-wife Jennifer Lopez finalized their divorce, someone else is making moves to cut ties with the Marry Me actress: Affleck’s daughter Violet, 19.
Although Bennifer 2.0 broke up in August, Violet — who Affleck shares with ex Jennifer Garner — has remained close to her former stepmom. She even wore Lopez’s 2023 Valentine’s Day dress after the breakup and had a visit from Lopez’s sister Lynda Lopez at Yale. In November, insiders told Daily Mail that Violet still “has a strong attachment to JLo and her family,” which was reportedly “quite confusing” to her parents. However, all that seems to have changed.
A new source told Daily Mail this week that Violet felt like a “pawn” in Lopez and Affleck’s divorce. “Violet felt like she was used as a pawn, so to speak, during her dad’s split from JLo,” an insider told the outlet.
They added that the teen came to this conclusion on her own. “Jen [Garner] supported her daughter getting close to the singer because she always puts her children first,” the source said.
“But as the divorce loomed, the fact that Violet was hanging out with JLo and wearing her clothes was odd to the family,” the insider continued, adding that the family also thought it strange that Violet was visiting with Lynda. “But Jen even let this slide, because she wants Violet to be happy and respects that, as an adult, she can choose who to spend her time with even if Jen does not necessarily agree,” the source explained.
Now, though, Violet reportedly is done with her relationship with Lopez. “’Over time Violet started to see how upset her father was that their split was at the center of everything” the source said. “Ben never said a word about JLo. Violet is highly intelligent and will ultimately always be a daddy’s girl. This is why you do not see her on public outings with JLo anymore.”
Affleck and Garner also share children Fin, 16, and Samuel, 12.
