Wrexham ace and son of Premier League hero shares horror pics of car crash that could’ve killed him ‘in blink of an eye’
WREXHAM midfielder Elliot Lee has opened up about the horrific car accident he suffered last week.
Lee was taken to hospital on February 11 after he was involved in a two-car collision while travelling home from the Racecourse Ground.

The 30-year-old had just featured for Wrexham against Bolton in the EFL Trophy.
A club statement from the Welsh side the following day read: “Wrexham AFC can confirm that last night, after the Vertu Trophy match against Bolton Wanderers, a first-team player (Elliot Lee) was involved in a road traffic incident when returning home.
“The incident involved one other car and resulted in the drivers of both cars being taken to hospital.
“Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the Club would like to thank them for their prompt response and action.”
Wrexham also confirmed that Lee suffered no major injuries.
The midfielder did not feature for the club against Northampton at the weekend or Leyton Orient on Tuesday evening.
But he took to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon to give fans an update.
Lee wrote: “Last Tuesday night I found out just how fragile life is and in the blink of an eye, through no fault of your own, it has the potential to change drastically.

“Thankfully I had someone looking over me, but I’m well aware of how different the outcome could’ve been.
“It has been overwhelming to see how much people care and the love and support I have around me with my family and friends. It has been a tough week, but I’m feeling very lucky and very grateful.
“Thank you to the emergency services for all their help and for all the kind messages I have received, it means a lot.
“And lastly a huge thank you to @kevmulholland @adermmm and my partner for rushing to my aid and spending all night in the hospital with me.
“Hoping to be back on the pitch asap.”
Lee also shared a picture of the damage to his car, with the front of the vehicle completely smashed.
The midfielder joined Wrexham from Luton Town in 2022 and has since made 134 appearances.
The midfielder has also played for the likes of West Ham and Barnsley.
He made two Premier League appearances for the Hammers and was loaned out five times – to Southend United, Luton, Blackpool and twice to Colchester United.
Lee is also the son of ex-Prem star Rob Lee, who played for West Ham, Newcastle and made 21 appearances for England.
Teen, 18, ‘happy to be alive’ after devastating road crash left him with fractured skull and ‘ticking time bomb’ clot
A TEENAGER has said he is “happy to be alive” after a car accident left him fighting for his life.
Mikolaj Bobro was the passenger in a car on his way to college when they were involved in a collision.

The incident happened in Arklow but he was later rushed to Beaumont Hospital after it emerged he had a large blood clot on his brain.
The 18-year-old said he has no memory of the accident or what happened after.
“I remember waking up in Beaumont and I was on the operating table, and the doctor was reassuring me I’ll be fine. And then I woke up in a bed with my family around me.”
Neurosurgeon Professor Donncha O’Brien said the team there often sees tragedy from car accidents.
“We see devastating fatal consequences as a result of collisions between cars. And we see devastating fatal consequences as a result of collisions between cars and passengers.
“In many cases, patients talk and die after a head injury, experience the so-called lucid interval whereby they literally have a head injury, then they have a concussional type evet. Then they wake up and recover fully, and then deteriorate and die.”
Mikolaj had a fractured skull as well as the life-threatening clot, which can kill.
Professor O’Brien said: “A blood clot in the brain is a ticking time bomb in that it’s expanding all the time and it’s putting more and more pressure on the brain associated with its expansion.
“The brain can only accommodate a certain amount of extra volume. Once it reaches critical volume the brain then is compromised and herniates and in association with that herniation, death can occur.”
The team spent six hours in theatre but managed to fix the fracture and remove the clot.
Since then, the teen has made a full recovery, returning to the hospital for a check-up to get the all clear.
He told the new Virgin Media documentary Brain Doctors: “I don’t really remember Professor O’Brien, so it was quite nice talking to him actually, instead of me just lying on a table while he operated on me.”
The surgeon said they had been initially worried about Mikolaj as he was slow to wake up after his operation.
“There are consequences, potentially fatal, with road traffic accidents. It can happen to anybody.
“The human brain, the human nervous system isn’t an indestructible entity.”
But given all good news, Mikolaj said: “I feel unlucky because I got into an accident but I also feel lucky that I got the best surgeon. Lucky is definitely happy to be alive for me.”
- BRAIN Doctors airs tonight and every Wednesday night on Virgin Media One at 9pm.

EastEnders fans work out ‘who really’ attacked Cindy Beale and insist clue is ‘red herring’
EASTENDERS fans have branded the big reveal of Cindy Beale’s attacker a ‘red herring’.
Viewers are convinced Kathy owning up to hitting Cindy over the head with a shovel at Christmas was a ploy to throw them off the scent.

Kathy confessed to the attack last night as Cindy held a gun up to Ian Beale and accused him of doing it.
But fans really aren’t convinced Kathy is being honest.
In a discussion online, EastEnders viewers are convinced Kathy has only confessed because she is covering for someone.
Writing on Reddit, one “disappointed” armchair detective branded the big reveal, which came five minutes into Tuesday night’s instalment, “wasted”.
They are also convinced soap bosses previously hinted her attacker would be unveiled in tonight’s 40th Anniversary live episode.
“Anyone else feel a tad underwhelmed and disappointed?” the fan asked.
“Didn’t like the way that Kathy reveal was done. Felt it was completely wasted. Really clinging on to hope that she was just saying it to save Ians skin.
“I could’ve sworn it was announced that the attacker would be revealed in the live episode?”
Replying, another viewer said: “I don’t think it’s Kathy. It was about as see through as Jane pretending it was her in 2015.
“Would Kathy really try to kill someone so soon after getting away with Keanu?”
And a third said: “I would be OK with it being Kathy if it wasn’t revealed so poorly. Whenever there’s a reveal of a whodunnit it’s like a dramatic punchline. This was just ‘Oh btw Kathy did it, moving on…”
Other Reddit users have pointed out that Kathy was also named as Cindy’s attacker in Tuesday night’s after show, EastEnders Revealed: The Lock-In.
In a separate discussion, one fan said: “Eastenders the Lock In show is saying definitely Kathy. If so I am unbelievably disappointed. As if Kathy would do it after the Keanu situation! It’s so implausible.”
Another chimed in: “I feel a bit underwhelmed. It just feels a bit anticlimactic and the fact that Kathy would do that especially after the whole SIX ordeal just seems implausible.
“I still think a twist is coming, but the Eastenders Revealed has also revealed it as Kathy, so it would be far fetched if that whole reveal to the cast was all a con, but never say never.”
Nine suspects have been in the frame for attacking Cindy with a shovel.
On Tuesday night, a furious Cindy arrived at No.45 armed with Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) gun.
She discovered Ian (Adam Woodyatt) holding their daughter Lucy’s locket, which was taken in the attack.
Believing this confirmed her suspicions of Ian, she confronted her ex-husband.
Who attacked Cindy Beale: The suspects

Cindy Beale was dramatically attacked at the end of the highly-anticipated Christmas Day special.
But there is question on the lips of every fan, who exactly was behind it?
Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe): She blackmailed Cindy to get out of Walford before kicking her husband George out following his surprise reaction to the public revelation about the affair. Cindy also called her ‘withered’ in her long rant.
George Knight (Colin Salmon): He claimed he was not interested in reigniting things with his ex-wife. But he was left enraged by his son’s behaviour, leaving his relationship with Elaine in ruins.
Junior Knight (Micah Balfour): He was caught suspiciously lurking in the shadows by Denise in the aftermath of the attack. He was hurt by Cindy because she claimed their affair only happened because he reminded her of his father George.
Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt): After finding out about the affair, hew kicked Cindy out in anger. He then trashed his living room, he stormed out the house and appeared to be unreachable at the time of the attack and in the aftermath.
Kojo Asare (Oludayo Koleosho): After finding out about Cindy’s affair, she put him into a coma when she pushed him off a raised platform. Could he want revenge?
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth): She was the one to find Cindy on the pavement in the Square gardens after she was attacked with the snow shovel. Kathy always remained suspicious of Cindy because of her past and was devastated at the destruction of her family.
Anna Knight (Molly Rainford): Was seen looking out of the upstairs window with a birds eye view of the square at the time Cindy went to get her cab.
Gina Knight (Francesca Henry): Recovering addict Gina snuck out of the Vic with her coat to go on a ‘walk’, just before the attack took place.
Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa): Cindy got Lauren addicted to smack and revealed her addiction to her family, leaving Peter devastated and her family destroyed. Just before Cindy was attacked, Lauren was contemplating taking more pills in the car lot.
Peter Beale (Thomas Law): Cindy destroyed the family unit they all shared by her actions. She then called him ‘stupid’ in her extensive monologue in the Vic which left his drowning his tears.
However, the Walford veteran insisted it wasn’t him who attacked Cindy and claimed their son Peter (Thomas Law) had been the person responsible.
As Cindy grappled with this surprise revelation, she was in for a further shock when Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) arrived at the house and took the blame.
With Cindy holding a gun to Ian’s head and accusing him of throwing his own son under a bus, Kathy shouted: “Stop!”
Cindy told her: “Just leave it alone, Kathy. This has got nothing to do with you!”
Kathy calmly told her: “It wasn’t Ian. He didn’t try to kill you. It was me.”

Rehearsals for Pope’s funeral ‘underway’ at Vatican after Pontiff ‘fears he won’t survive’ double pneumonia
THE Pope’s funeral is being rehearsed after the ailing Pontiff warned he may not survive this bout of pneumonia, according to reports.
The Swiss Guard – the force tasked with protecting the Pope, 88 – has been rehearsing his funeral procedure and are “preparing for the pontiff’s death”, according to a Swiss newspaper.

Catholics are gathering near the hospital where he is being treated as fears for health intensify, reported Blick.
However, the captain of the Swiss Guard, Christian Kühne, denied this report on Wednesday.
He told Catholic news agency KNA: “We are continuing to work normally,” and stressed that regular service operations would continue unchanged.
The Pope has been staying in a special ward Rome’s Gemelli hospital since Friday, where he was admitted after a week suffering with bronchitis.
The Vatican revealed on Monday that he was battling a “complex clinical picture” which involved a “polymicrobial infection of the respiratory tract”.
Officials clarified yesterday that he has been diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs.
Then, two people close to the Pontiff claimed Francis had confided to them that “might not make it this time”, according to a report by Politico.
The sources also apparently said the Pope is suffering from intense pain and is “tying up loose ends” ahead of his successor.
There had been hope that the Pope would pull through after a Vatican update on Monday announced his condition was “stable”, and that he was “free from fever”.
But the confirmation of double-lung pneumonia and Francis’s reported pessimism over his outlook have cast a gloomy shadow for Catholics worldwide.
All of the Pope’s engagements this week have been cancelled or rescheduled – and he is said to be “distressed” to have been barred from delivering his regular morning Angelus sermon.
A statement issued by the Vatican yesterday read: “The chest CT scan that the Holy Father underwent this afternoon […] demonstrated the onset of bilateral pneumonia that required further pharmacological therapy.”
They added that Francis’ respiratory infection also involved asthmatic bronchitis, which required the use of an extensive antibiotic treatment.
The Pope had part of his lung removed years ago, meaning he is particularly vulnerable to pulmonary conditions.
How will the next Pope be chosen?
By Patrick Harrington, foreign news reporter
THE Pope has a huge responsibility as the global head of the Catholic Church.
Traditionally, a senior cardinal assumes the role late-on in their life and continues until their death.
That is not always the case, however, as with Pope Benedict XVI who stepped back after eight years due to ill health.
When the Pope dies, his passing must first be confirmed by the Chamberlain of the Catholic church – in the presence of the Papal Master of Ceremonies and other officials.
The Chamberlain then informs the cardinal vicar for Rome, who passes the news onto the city and the world.
After nine days of mourning, during which time the Pope is buried, the task of choosing a new leader arises.
All 252 cardinals will be summoned to Rome from around the world for the Papal election, called Conclave.
The new Pope is decided by a vote, which can be participated in by up to 115 cardinals.
The number is whittled down by excluding any cardinals over 80.
There are secret discussions between the cardinals about who would be a good successor.
Then voting begins in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel – and continues until a consensus is reached.
However, if there is still no consensus after 12 days, then a new Pope can be appointed with more than 50 per cent of the votes.
Locals are kept updated on the process by twice-daily plumes of smoke coming from the chapel.
Black smoke means the vote is still being deliberated, and when white smoke appears it means a decision has been reached.

Expert Italian pulmonologist Barbara Moscatelli told the National Catholic Reporter that the condition is “neither easy to define or to manage”.
However, even yesterday the Pope was said to be in good spirits and grateful for all the prayers for his speedy recovery.
As his health has deteriorated, Francis has moved to complete initiatives whilst he still can, and appoint certain figures to key posts who, he hopes, will continue his mission for progressive reform of the Church.
One source told Politico that Pope tactically extended the term of one figure – Giovanni Battista Re – as dean of the College of Cardinals, before being admitted to hospital.
This is the role that will oversee the Conclave, when the next Pope is selected.
Francis’s intervention was apparently controversial as it bypassed a scheduled vote on the position in order to ensure the voting process plays out as he wants.
Re is too old to vote, but insiders said he would be able to influence the lobbying that goes on during the secret discussions in the Sistine Chapel.
A source told Politico: “The run-up to the conclave is more important as that’s where lobbying goes on.”
Since being elected in 2013, Francis has strived to make the Church more inclusive by opening up key roles to women and people from the LGBT community.
The Vatican's statement on the Pope's health 17/02/2025

“The laboratory tests, chest X-ray and clinical conditions of the Holy Father continue to present a complex picture.
“The polymicrobial infection, which arose in the context of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, and which required the use of antibiotic cortisone therapy, makes the therapeutic treatment more complex.
“The control chest CT scan that the Holy Father underwent this afternoon, prescribed by the Vatican health team and the medical team of the Fondazione Policlinico ‘A. Gemelli’, demonstrated the onset of bilateral pneumonia that required further pharmacological therapy.
“Nonetheless, Pope Francis is in good spirits. This morning he received the Eucharist and, during the day, he alternated rest with prayer and reading texts.
“He gives thanks for the closeness he feels at this time and asks, with a grateful heart, that we continue to pray for him.”
