Sun Shopping Dyson Airwrap review

The Dyson Airwrap styler has become a must-have for anyone who's looking for a professional level blow out at home.
Our Sun Shopping team tried and tested the coveted hair tool and here are their honest thoughts…
Pros
- Low heat means less hair damage
- Blow dries and styles
- Options for short, long and coily/curly hair
- Professional level blow out with little fuss
Cons
- Very expensive
- Difficult to get the hang of at first
- Too many attachments
Overall rating: 4.5/5
When I first opened the box, my immediate impression was that it looked luxe.
There were lots of attachments — six to be precise — which was a little overwhelming but the manual explained what each one did and how to use them.
It felt substantial in my hands when I took it out of the packaging but not so heavy that I felt my arm would fall off when I used it.
There are three versions of the hair tool – the Multi-Styler Complete Long, Multi-Styler Complete and Multi-Styler Complete Coily/Curly – but, due to my short, wavy hair, I tested the Multi-Styler Complete.
On wet hair, I started with the Coanda smoothing dryer attachment because my hair has a tendency to get frizzy and it quietly dried my wet strands to about 80 per cent at a noticeably lower heat than my regular hairdryer.
I watched a couple of videos on how to perfect my technique before I started, and it helped because at first it can be a little tricky to figure out how best to use it.
But once I gave it a go, I was converted.
If you want flawless, frizz free hair then the Dyson Airwrap really is on another level. The unique technology and easy to use attachments gave me a salon-like blow out, despite my incompetence when it comes to hair styling.
I loved the constantly regulated temperature which ensured the tool never got too hot and protected my hair (although still always use a heat protectant to avoid pesky split ends and frying your strands).
All in all, I’m very impressed with the Dyson Airwrap and would recommend it to a friend despite the hefty price tag.

Although it is expensive, we’re still huge fans of the product and think it represents value for money.
If you’re still unsure, it might be worth testing the product out in a store before committing to buying one.
Is there a cheap version of the Dyson Airwrap?
Since its launch, many products have been dubbed Dyson Airwrap dupes as shoppers search to find cheaper alternatives.
Many will not have the exact Coanda technology as the Airwrap, but they will have a similar design – and ultimately a lesser price tag.
One example is the BaByliss Air Style 1000, which retails for £75 and is currently on sale for £50.25.
We also found this hair tool from Air Wonder 8 in 1 Hot Air Styler for £69.99 (usually £129.99).
The 8 in 1 styler continues to go viral for its multiple uses and affordable price.
Shark’s FlexStyle HD430SLUK4-in-1 Air Styler & Hair Dryer is another affordable alternative for those shopping for the Dyson Airwrap.

Sharlene Mawdsley reveals side of her career ‘people don’t see’ as she criticises Netflix doc for ‘glamourising reality’
SHARLENE MAWDSLEY criticised a recently released Netflix documentary series for “not showing the reality” of athletics.
The TV series – named Sprint – was released last year and charts the careers of a group of elite runners.

According to IMDB, it “provides an insider’s perspective on the high stakes and mental toughness of sprinters.”
However, while Mawdsley did watch the show up to a point, she believes it did not give fans an insight into the inner workings and sacrifice in the sport.
She told RTE: “We’ve discussed it as athletes between ourselves, even just with my training group.
“It’s very glamourised and I think that’s the side of the sport people see quite often.
“You see us going out to the track with our hair done, our make-up done, our tan is on and we’re looking our best.
“You don’t see us puking on the side of a track in training and I feel it would have been nice had they showed that a little bit more.
“I think there was a lot of noise made in Sprint, whereas that’s not actually the reality of our sport.
“Of course, it’s a part of it but it’s not the 95% of it that they didn’t show.
“It would be nice if you could see more of that.”
The 26-year-old is an active user of social media, through which she gives her followers an inside look at her own progress.
This includes training camps in the likes of South Africa and the Tenerife.
With that territory comes negative and troll comments, with Mawdsley admitting to such in an interview with the Irish Independent.
The Newport AC export said she tries not to get bogged down when it comes to media attention.
She explained: “Mostly I don’t think twice about it, but then you are walking down the street with your groceries and someone stops you for a picture.
“The crying on TV was a big one, because it showed people how much it meant to us.
“I am sitting here at the track and these are the days that no one sees that you have to dig in and do the work.
“The majority of the attention has been good — I get messages from mothers all the time saying how much of an impact it has on their daughters.”
Attention in traditional media has brought with it scrutiny on social media.
She added: “I definitely get comments.
“Someone posted under one of my training posts last week: ‘All of this training for fourth at the Olympics.’
“Sometimes I’ll bark back and say, ‘How did you get on at the Olympics?'”
