Watch moment frail Pope Francis speaks from hospital to St Peter’s Square as Pontiff, 88, remains in health battle

THIS is the emotional moment thousands of Pope Francis’ followers hear the sickly Pontiff’s voice for the first time since his health battles.

The 88-year-old recorded the moving words from the same hospital bed where he was first rushed to on February 14.

Dozens of his loyal followers emotionally watched on as the voice recording was played out[/caption]

The 30-second recording was shared with worshippers at the start of the evening Rosary prayer in St Peter’s Square.

It came as a shock to those in attendance who have spent the last 21 days longing to hear from the great Pontiff.

The cardinal presiding over the touching moment told the crowd he had “beautiful news, a beautiful gift” to share before the clip played.

A pre-recording of the Pope said: “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers for my health from the Square, I accompany you from here.

May God bless you and may the Virgin protect you. Thank you”.

The moved worshippers soon started to applaud the Pope’s bravery for speaking.

The speech, which came in Francis’ native Spanish, was filmed from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital where he has been receiving treatment for double pneumonia since February 14.

The Vatican gave their latest update on the sickly Pope on Wednesday as they said he now requires “high flow oxygen” therapy throughout the day and ventilation over night.

Francis’s team also revealed there have been “no new crises”and that the Pontiff spent the day out of bed in his chair.

The update also revealed the Pope had restarted some of his work, despite his recent “acute respiratory failures” and continuing battle with double-lung pneumonia.

Francis was first rushed into hospital on February 14, where he has remained ever since.

He was later diagnosed with double-lung pneumonia, and his condition has been up and down.

But, on Monday, the pontiff suffered a major set back when he was hit by two “acute respiratory failures” which bound him to a ventilator.

At Francis’s request, the Vatican released all the details about his clinical picture.

They said his recent emergencies were caused by “significant accumulation of endobronchial mucus and consequent bronchospasm”.

Corrigan Park snubbed as Ulster GAA draw ire from Antrim fans after confirming venue of Armagh clash amid boycott threat

ULSTER GAA has confirmed the venue for Antrim’s controversial clash against Armagh – with Corrigan Park snubbed.

The Saffrons had warned that they would boycott the provincial quarter-final fixture if the Belfast venue was not selected.

And all eyes will be on if they follow through after Ulster GAA confirmed that the game would take place at Pairc Esler in Down.

A statement read: “Following a meeting of the Ulster Competitions Control Committee this afternoon, the decision was taken that the forthcoming Antrim v Armagh Ulster Senior Football Championship game will be held at Pairc Esler on Saturday 12th April, throw-in 7pm.

“In reaching this decision, the committee sympathised with Antrim GAA’s situation, which re-iterates the need for Casement Park to be redeveloped as a matter of urgency.

“The complete 2025 Ulster Senior Football Championship programme, including throw-in times and television schedules, will be finalised in the near future.”

The decision drew ire from some fans, with one saying: “Hopefully antrim refuse, corrigan or nowhere”

A second posted: “Disgraceful. “Sympathised”. Go on put more money in the coffers to build casement then instead of begging.”

A third commented: “I’m from Armagh but this is a disgrace…Antrim are the home team and that should be respected”

A fourth posted: “Disgraceful decision – you should be backing Antrim Gaels, not throwing them under the bus for the gate revenue”

In the wake of Antrim threatening to boycott the game, Ulster GAA insisted that the ground doesn’t meet required health and safety standards, nor capacity guidelines.

However, captain McAleese repeated the call for the game to be played at Corrigan.

He was speaking to RTE following their Division 3 football league loss to Mickey Harte’s Offaly.

And he said: “As a playing group and a management group, we made our position clear a couple of weeks ago and we are standing by it.

“Our job is to focus on the football especially after a result like that there. That is what we will be doing this week.

“We have made it clear, that’s our home ground and that is where we will be playing the game.”

If Antrim do not play the game, they run the risk of being kicked out of the championship altogether.

But McAleese added: “We have heard speculation about that there. No confirmation from anyone.

“As I say, we have made our statement and that is what we are standing by.

“Corrigan is our home ground. Some great games there in the Championship in the past with Cavan.

“The hurlers have had some great games in Corrigan, Clare I can remember, so as far as we can see, that is where the game is going.”

You might find it looking a little worse for wear after the cold winter months, but don’t worry – there’s a cheap Poundland buy to help you out.

Taking to TikTok, the DIY whizz from the account @jellyandjonny showed off how she transformed her garden chairs in minutes.

“We’ve had this outdoor sofa for quite a few years now and it has definitely seen better days,” she explained in the viral video.

But rather than scrubbing away at the sofa cushions, or even paying to get them cleaned or replaced, the savvy DIY whizz explained how she got them looking as good as new.

Using the Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster, she sprayed the cushions and let the cleaning product work it’s magic.

In just five minutes the mould and dirt totally vanished from the grey cushions, leaving them looking summer-ready.

She repeated the process on all of the cushions and gave the frame of the sofa a refresh, leaving the garden set looking fresh and clean.

The best part is the spray only costs £1.50 for Poundland, making the cleaning hack a total bargain.

“Mould & Mildew Blaster removes tough stains without the need for scrubbing, whilst regular use helps prevent return,” the product description reads online.

The spray can also be used on “uPVC window frames, plastic shower curtains, bathroom tiles, grout, silicone sealant, concrete, sinks and plugholes,” according to Poundland.

After showing off the transformation, other DIY and cleaning fans were impressed by how well the cleaning spray worked.

One commented: “I’m amazed at the cushions with such little effort. And the wooden frame looks fab now too.”

A second agreed: “Wow that’s amazing, I’m going to use this.”

And someone else noted how shocked they were that the spray didn’t bleach the fabric, but the DIY fan assured her it didn’t.

“It doesn’t!” she quipped.

The trick isn’t the only one you can use to get your garden ready for the sunshine either.

You can use household staples to bring your garden furniture back to life, according to Andy Ellis, outdoor furniture expert at Posh.co.uk.

Hacks to get rid of dirt buildup on garden furniture

Lemon juice

Garden furniture can grow mould and moss if neglected, but lemon juice can be used to tackle this issue.

Simply mix it with salt and dip a sponge or brush in the solution before using it to clean off and scrub any mould stains and growing moss.

Baking soda

Baking soda is very effective when tackling mould and grime on outdoor furniture because it causes dirt and grease to dissolve when mixed with water.

Its abrasive properties make the solution great for cleaning certain materials without leaving harsh scratches.

Just dip a wet sponge in and rub the dirty areas in circular motions before rinsing off.

Vinegar

Vinegar is an accessible household item that is great for cleaning a range of outdoor furniture, especially wood.

Because of its acidic nature, it is great for removing stains and grime.

It must be diluted with water at a 1:1 ratio beforehand to prevent any damage.

After this, use a soft sponge to gently rub the mixture on the dirty surfaces.

Olive oil

Rattan furniture can be tough to clean, but using just a small amount of olive oil to clean and buff it can make it look as good as new.

Rub the olive oil on a soft cloth and buff it into the furniture to add shine and reduce cracking.

Coffee grounds

Coffee grounds are abrasive, making them an effective cleaning tool to banish dirt and grime.
