PrettyLittleThing shoppers FURIOUS after it quietly introduces huge change to returns as they threaten to boycott
LOYAL shoppers after threatening to boycott PrettyLittleThing after its quietly made a huge change to its returns policy.
The fast fashion retailer has slashed its returns policy in half, from 28 days to 14.
This change, which came into effect on February 6, coincides with the brand’s recent refresh and has sparked considerable backlash on social media platforms like TikTok.
One user, @sophienewtnewts, reported having her return rejected because the new policy shortened the return window, leaving her unable to return items purchased before the rebrand.
Some shoppers have threatened to boycott the retailer following the news.
One person said on TikTok: “This makes it easier for me not to buy from them.”
Another said: “It’s like they hate their customers.”
A third shopper said: “Can we all complain because this must be illegal to change a policy without notifying their customers and then refusing to give a refund.”
While many other major retailers like ASOS, H&M, and Zara offer return windows of 28 or 30 days, PrettyLittleThing’s move is believed to be a cost-saving measure to combat “serial refunding” and “wardrobing” – the practice of buying and returning clothes after wearing them once or simply trying them on.
Retail payment experts at Dojo said: “High amounts of returns can prove very expensive for businesses, so it’s no surprise that fast fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing has shortened their returns policy to 14 days.
“Buy now, pay later has contributed significantly to customers buying more than they usually would to try different sizes and colours without any money leaving their bank account.
“This causes mass returns costing brands money for the returns process. Therefore, shortening the returns policy can discourage excessive orders, and combat potential return abuse.”
However, although the revised wording on the PrettyLittleThing website might give the impression that you must request a refund and return your items within 14 days, the law indicates otherwise.
Customers will, technically still have 28 days to return their items on the basis that they ask for a refund within 14 days of receiving the item.
Under consumer rights laws, customers are entitled to a refund if they inform the retailer within 14 days of receiving their goods that they wish to cancel.
After providing this notification, customers are granted a further 14 days to return the items.
Therefore, despite the revised wording on the PrettyLittleThing website, customers technically have a full 28 days to complete the entire returns process.
Does PrettyLittleThing charge for returns?
On June 3 last year, PrettyLittleThing introduced a £1.99 return fee for all customers.
However, by September 2024, this fee was scrapped in a major U-turn following the return of Umar Kamani, the founder of PrettyLittleThing, who rejoined the company 18 months after stepping down.
Writing on X in September, he said: “As part of this renewed commitment, one of my first changes will be to reintroduce free returns to our royalty customers.”
He went on to apologise for “any negative experiences” customers have had since his departure.
But not all customers benefited from the change.
Only those who pay the £10.99 a year fee for the PLT loyalty programme, are spared the return fee.
Customers who don’t pay for the service, which offers perks like free unlimited delivery, are still charged £1.99 each time they send back an unwanted order.
How does the PrettyLittleThing loyalty scheme work?
MEMBERS of the Royalty Scheme get unlimited UK next day delivery and free returns for £10.99 a year.
This works out at 92p a month.
The company estimates that if you make three purchases a year, your membership will have already paid for itself.
On top of this, these shoppers also benefit from free returns, saving them £1.99 each time.
For customers who are not part of the scheme, UK standard delivery costs £3.99 and can take up to three days to arrive.
Of course, you shouldn’t just fork out for a scheme.
Only consider it if you regularly shop at PrettyLittleThing and you know that you will save money in the longer term.
PrettyLittleThing rebrand
Earlier this week, PrettyLittleThing revealed its ‘most ambitious’ rebrand since its launch in 2012.
However, many fans have expressed dissatisfaction with several of the changes, particularly the pricing.
The brand has achieved global success with over 18million Instagram followers and has collaborated with some of fashion’s hottest stars, including Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora, and Nicki Minaj as well as Molly-Mae Hague.
PrettyLittleThing says the rebrand, titled ‘A LEGACY IN PROGRESS’, is the result of months of candid conversations and valuable feedback from loyal customers, following founder Umar Kamani’s return to the helm in September 2024.
He said: “I think what happened with the brand for a couple of years is we stopped listening. And that’s where the brand lost its identity.
“In coming back, what I’ve tried to do is to clean everything up and redefine ourselves.”
In the revamp, even the iconic pink unicorn emblem has had a makeover and is now a ‘heritage-inspired mark’ said to be a modern take on a historic coat of arms.
The new look marks a dramatic departure from the distinctive bubblegum pink fans know and love, and instead embraces a darker colour palette featuring shades like ‘garnet, rose petal, and blush sand’.
Previously, PrettyLittleThing was known for it’s trendy and affordable clothing, including their notorious 99% off Black Friday sales where shoppers could grab items for as little as 4p.
However, Kamani explains the high-end makeover is a “movement that celebrates our customers’ evolving style”.
The rebrand will also see a shift in priorities for the company, with product quality and consistent sizing being the focus.
Kamani added: “Quality and sizing are so important to customers now as they try and build staple pieces. People don’t want disposable fashion like they used to.”
He admitted that previously, the focus was “getting the product on site at the cheapest price”.
Now, instead of having £4 dresses, they are keen to make clothes that are “thicker, not see-through and a better fit”, which means using “better fabrics” and having “better finishes”.
But the rebrand has gone viral on social media, and TikTok influencer Geli (@gelikanu) is just one of many who shared her thoughts.
She criticised the aesthetic of the new clothes, claiming they were catering to the currently popular “old-money” trend.
“PLT switching up their aesthetic has just reinforced my belief that this old-money epidemic just needs to die.”

A LOVE Island All Stars couple have finally made things official after overcoming a sticky spot in the villa.
The duo enjoyed a romantic boyfriend and girlfriend proposal – with the ITV2 villa bombshell admitting she was “crying” at the sweet gesture.
Harriett Blackmore, 24, and Ronnie Vint, 28, narrowly missed out on a spot in the All Stars final earlier this year.
After the exes reunited on the Love Island spin-off, Harriett then awkwardly snubbed the semi-professional footballer’s suggestion they become an item during a Valentine’s Day chat on the Terrace.
Yet with Ronnie grafting ever since, his efforts culminated in a stunning set-up in the real world.

EasyJet launches its longest ever flight to winter sun island dubbed a ‘cheaper Caribbean’ with 30C highs
EASYJET’S longest flight is launching this month to a destination dubbed a more affordable Caribbean.
The new Cape Verde flight will be a first for the budget airline when it launches from London Gatwick.
Currently, Brits can only fly to the islands with TUI , who have routes from London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Newcastle.
But the additional route with easyJet means holidaymakers will have more options when flying from the London airport.
The new route starts on March 31, operating three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Passengers will take off at 10am from the UK, with the six-hour hour flight landing in Sal at 2:10pm.
Return flights leave later from Sal, taking off at 3:05pm and landing in the UK at 10:55pm.
This rivals easyJet‘s other longest flight, which operates from Belfast to Hurghada in Egypt and takes around six hours as well.
Cape Verde is an affordable mid-haul destination, being off the coast of Africa.
The African island is warm nearly all year round, with 24C temperatures even in winter.
Visit in summer and highs hit 30C, although the rainy season funs from August to October so expect showers.
Most tourists visit either the island of Sal or Bol, which are where the main holiday resorts are.
It is often dubbed “Africa’s answer to the Caribbean” for its beautiful weather and white sandy beaches.
It’s also more affordable – the new easyJet flights start from £66.
When visiting Sal, expect a mix of both African and Portuguese culture, only becoming independent from the European country in the 1970s.
And popular activities include kite-surfing – thanks to the windy climate – and scuba diving.
There are even turtle conservation areas where you can spot them on the beach although tourists are advised not to disturb them.
EasyJet’s Cape Verde holidays start from £470 each for a seven night break, including return flights.
Another island getting new flights from the UK is Lanzarote, with new easyJet flights from Birmingham.
What is a Cape Verde holiday like?
The Sun’s Head of Travel Caroline McGuire visited Cape Verde with her family.
CAPE Verde is certainly the place for those seeking winter sun, with the average highs reaching 24C in December.
And the best part is, unlike the far-flung sunny favourites, like Florida, this collection of ten islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean can be reached in less than six hours from the UK.
Skin-scorching sun isn’t the only reason to pay a visit to the Portuguese-speaking country, though.
For those who like a bit of adrenaline, there’s kite-surfing along the aptly named Kite Beach (you’ll need strong arms), plus quad-biking on the desert landscape that makes up the bulk of the inner island.
But for us, our break was all about relaxing — and we did just that on a four-hour catamaran cruise along the coast of Sal, where away from the shore the waters were calm enough for a dip.
Starting from October, flights start from £23.99.
And TUI is launching new flights from Belfast to Punta in the Dominican Republic next year, with holidays from £878pp.
Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards walk off CBS Sports set after Liverpool hero Alisson’s post-match interview
JAMIE CARRAGHER and Micah Richards incredibly stormed off set during Alisson’s live TV interview.
The Liverpool goalkeeper spoke to the media following his stunning performance away at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The Brazilian, 32, made nine saves to keep a clean sheet in the French capital.
Harvey Elliott secured a smash-and-grab winner just 46 seconds after coming on to take a 1-0 lead back to Anfield.
But it was Alisson who was rightfully named man of the match – and tasked with being interviewed by the broadcasters.
And Carragher and Richards were up to their usual antics on CBS Sports.
Peter Schmeichel conducted the interview with Alisson from the Parc des Princes while Carragher, Richards and Thierry Henry joined host Kate Abdo in the studio.
Richards went on the charm offensive – but it soon backfired.
The ex-Manchester City right-back said: “Have you seen our show, Alisson? Have you seen our show?
“Have you seen the clips online?”

A laughing Alisson confirmed: “Yes, I did, I did.”
Then the very excitable Richards responded: “Oh okay you did, perfect.

The keeper replied: “Well, well, nice Portuguese, by the way.
“I think I will have to say as I think he played the biggest part out of the players here, Thierry. Legend.”
Ex-Liverpool defender Carragher shouted back: “Alisson!”
But Alisson continued: “When I was growing up, I watched a lot of Arsenal in the early 2000s when he was playing.
“So it was the only team that was showing on the open TV in Brazil.”
But as Alisson gave his explanation, Carra and Richards had seen enough – and silently got out of their chairs and walked off in a hilarious protest.
Giggling and smug Henry chipped in with “obrigado” – meaning “thank you” in Portuguese – as he was left in the studio alongside Abdo.
Schmeichel could not help but break into laughter, too, as the chaos unfolded.
And the brilliant moment went down a storm with fans on social media.
One said: “All football fans will say Henry, people that watch it just for the entertainment will say Micah.”
Another wrote: “Why does Titi gets all the love?”
A third added: “Liverpool players don’t even rate their legend imagine lol.”

UK airport to shut for good in just weeks despite furious objection with hundreds of homes being built instead
A UK airport is set to close in weeks to make way for a controversial new housing estate.
More than a thousand objections have been submitted against developer Vistry Homes’ plans for hundreds of properties at Tollerton Airfield – home of Nottingham City Airport.
But all businesses – including the airport itself, training schools, a cafe and air traffic building, have been told to leave by June 6 despite planning permission having not even been granted.
The proposals were submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council in March last year before a petition was launched by group Save Nottingham City Airfield.
Other sites were said to be being considered following the push back, but ultimately nothing came to fruition.
On top of the job losses, the development will mean emergency helicopters losing a refuelling site, and there’ll be a negative impact on biodiversity.
The Chocks Away cafe is also used by children with special needs.
Site owner Brain Wells has confirmed he was sent the notice to vacate the site on Tuesday (March 4), reports NottinghamshireLive.
Operators Truman Aviation sold the airfield to Vistry in June 2022 with the intention of submitting a planning application to redevelop the site.
“The developers were determined to have everywhere shut down for when they came to planning,” Mr Wells said.
“We agreed we’d have two to five years here before they would take over. They even suggested they could keep one runway open for us.
“But the main board of developers say they’ve had enough of all these people protesting and decided to shut it down sooner rather than later.”
He added that “it’s very sad” how things have developed much quicker than hoped for, and said the closure will mean “numerous redundancies”.
The airfield dates back to the 20th Century, when it was home to several flying clubs, and then as a commercial airport until the late 1940s.
During World War Two it was acquired by the Air Ministry and became RAF Tollerton.
Up to 1,600 homes are set to be built at the site if plans are approved.
Sarah Deacon, chair of Save Nottingham City Airfield, said the notice given is “cruel” and said the group is shocked Vistry “would force the closure” of businesses and cause redundancies when the application hasn’t even gone to committee yet.
A spokesperson for Vistry said: “With the site having been allocated for development a decade ago, we are keen to progress our plans and commence construction of the new homes, subject to planning permission.
“Vistry’s site forms part of the wider allocation which ensures that infrastructure is delivered alongside the new homes providing new schools, sports facilities, green spaces, employment land and community facilities.
“We estimate that some 500 direct and indirect jobs will be created during the construction stage of Vistry’s application, and once the full site allocation is completed some 1,450 jobs are expected to be created.
“We have worked closely with the council on this comprehensive development and have consulted widely with the local community.
“We look forward to making further progress on these plans and providing Rushcliffe residents with much-needed new and affordable homes and employment opportunities.”
The Sun has approached Vistry, Truman Aviation and Rushcliffe Borough Council for comment.
