Brighton Dominates Southampton 4-0 in Comfortable Victory at St Mary’s

Brighton cruised to a comfortable victory at relegation-threatened Southampton, with Joao Pedro, Georginio Rutter, Kaoru Mitoma, and Jack Hinshelwood all getting on the scoresheet in a dominant display. The Seagulls started strong and showed their class from the outset, leaving Southampton with little hope of mounting a comeback. The opening goal came in the 30th …

Rangers fans vent fury at Clement and stars after St Mirren defeat in half empty stands as others vote with their feet

RANGERS fell to a shock 2-0 defeat at Ibrox to St Mirren as they failed to close the gap at the top of the Premiership.

Philippe Clement‘s side had the chance to reduce the points tally between themselves and Celtic to 10 points with a win.

But most supporters had already left the stadium by the full time whistle

But two second half goals from sixth placed St Mirren kept the league standings as they were before this weekend’s action.

And what Gers fans were left in the stadium could be heard booing their team at the full time whistle.

But the vast majority of stands were EMPTY after the scoreboard changed to 2-0.

It’s not the first time the crowd have booed their team off the park after a poor result.

Supporters entered the stadium waving American flags before the game, but it was their team that was waving a white flag at full time.

And some fans even took to social media to give their reaction on the game.

Posting on X, one fan said: “Awful performance today, the players should be ashamed.”

Another added: “We sacked Gio(vanni van Bronckhorst) and this is worse. Imagine if he had gotten his own players.”

A third fan said: “Good Rangers teams would be fired up to take advantage. Then you get this lot who cave under the pressure.”

A fourth added: “Shameful stuff. Philippe Clement won’t go until the new deal is sorted, but i hope someone at the club is thinking of the next manager.”

Rangers now face an away trip to Rugby Park on next midweek to take on Kilmarnock.

Premier League release statement on Myles Lewis-Skelly red card as Arsenal’s title hopes collapse

ARSENAL ace Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off once more following another VAR review.

Lewis-Skelly, 18, and the rest of Mikel Arteta’s men endured a miserable afternoon at the Emirates as they lost 1-0 to London rivals West Ham following Jarrod Bowen’s winner.

That shocking loss dealt a major blow to the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes as a victory would have seen them cut down the deficit with leaders Liverpool to five points.

And things got worse for the North Londoners in the 73rd minute when their teenage defender fouled Mohammed Kudus.

The Arsenal academy graduate was caught in possession on the halfway line, with the hosts pushing for an equaliser.

Kudus nicked the ball off the youngster, with Arteta’s goalkeeper David Raya miles off his line.

With the forward in the clear, Lewis-Skelly lunged in to try and poke the ball away.

The versatile defender made limited contact with the ball, bringing the West Ham star down, and after an initial yellow card referee Craig Pawson upgraded it to red following a VAR review.

The Premier League addressed that decision deeming the Ghana international was denied an “obvious goal-scoring opportunity”.

The Prem explained: “VAR checked the referee’s call of yellow card to Lewis-Skelly for a challenge on Kudus – deeming it denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity due to the goalkeeper’s position and there being no covering defender, therefore recommended an on-field review.

“The referee then upgraded the yellow to a red card.”

This isn’t the first time Lewis-Skelly get sent off in the Premier League, despite only playing 12 matches in the English top flight.

The Arsenal ace was controversial sent off against Wolves last month.

He received a straight red at Molineux for a cynical foul on Matt Doherty.

On that occasion, Lewis-Skelly made the tackle on the edge of the Wolves area as the hosts attempted to counter.

But Arsenal later launched an appeal and the FA subsequently lifted Lewis-Skelly’s suspension.
