‘Real reason’ Danny Dyer left EastEnders revealed as Mick Carter star reveals storyline that was the final straw

DANNY Dyer has already given a variety of reasons for why he quit EastEnders, but now he’s come up with his most outrageous to date.

The actor, who played Mick Carter on the BBC One soap, says he was so outraged by them creating a love affair with another Albert Square character he had to leave.

Danny, 47, claims to have thrown in the towel three years ago because he couldn’t believe his character got paired up with Charlie Brooks’ Janine and got her pregnant.

Talking on Sky’s Smart TV he said: “Mick’s got a kid with Janine, how mad’s that? That’s why I left.

“They f*ing put me with Janine, I thought I’ve gotta fk off! It’s the truth!”

Danny has previously said he left the Walford soap because he wanted to explore other acting avenues, but many of his projects haven’t been conventional roles in dramas.

Which has left a question mark over exactly why he quit the plum role role as the Queen Vic landlord back in 2022, one he’d had on EastEnders since 2013.

But as well as surprising EastEnders fans, he also provided them with a glimmer of hope on the show by admitting he could return.

He points out that after he disappeared in his sensational exit storyline, with most people assuming he was dead, they never found his body.

Danny said: “I did present an award at the National Television Awards and I said: ‘Bring Mick back, which is the character I played in EastEnders.

“So I could be back for it. You never found my body, f*** knows where I am – bring Mick back!”

He did temper that by reminding everyone that he has found success in new racy Disney+ show, Rivals, playing Lord Sugar-esque working class tycoon Freddie Jones – and there’s a second, even steamier series on the way.

Danny said: “I’m a Disney star now. It’s called Rivals, it’s very ck heavy! I get naked in it, don’t get too excited, I’ve got B cups now.”

The former EastEnders actor has been keeping busy since leaving Albert Square for good in 2022, and now Tinsel Town is calling.

The job offers starting pouring in after Danny wowed viewers with his role in smash hit series, Rivals.

The much-loved Brit has landed a new gig alongside A-list movie star Rebel Wilson, 44.

The pair have been spotted filming scenes for their new movie in Knaresborough, Yorkshire.

Along with Rebel, Danny is also co-starring in the new Christmas movie called Tinsel Town alongside Hollywood favourite Kiefer Sutherland, 58.

Incredible shot map shows how badly Liverpool were dominated by PSG as shock stats from improbable win laid bare

LIVERPOOL earned an incredible smash and grab win over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes last night.

Arne Slot‘s men had their backs against the wall for much of the frantic match in the French capital.

PSG somehow didn’t convert their dominance into goals[/caption]

The Reds managed just two shots in the entire game, compared with PSG’s 27.

But crucially, one of them was Harvey Elliott‘s 87th minute winner.

The incredible shot map from last night’s match shows how the home side peppered Alisson‘s goal – with 11 of their 27 shots coming from inside the box.

Fortunately for the Reds their Brazilian stopper was in fantastic form, making NINE brilliant saves to keep PSG out – the most he has ever made in a match for Liverpool.

The French champions came flying out the blocks and will consider themselves particularly unlucky not to have gone ahead in the first half.

Not included among their 27 registered shots was the effort that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia curled beyond Alisson on 20 minutes.

The Georgian finished brilliantly, but the Reds were saved by the narrowest of offside calls.

Liverpool also could have found themselves in a spot of bother later in the first 45, when Ibrahima Konate brought Bradley Barcola down as the last defender.

Amazingly, the incident was not deemed to be a foul and Konate, who has been linked with both PSG and Real Madrid in recent weeks, breathed a sigh of relief.

As it happened, Liverpool’s subs managed to combine for their improbable winner.

In the 87th minute, Alisson hoofed the ball up towards Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan, introduced for Diogo Jota on 67 minutes, subsequently bullied Marquinhos in the air.

Nunez then stayed calm to find Elliott, who had been introduced barely 40 seconds earlier, in the space usually occupied by Mo Salah.

The 21-year-old then did his best impression of the Egyptian King to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner, leaving PSG incredulous.

‘IT’S A BIT WEIRD’

After the game, boss Luis Enrique could barely hide his frustration.

The exasperated Spaniard told French broadcaster Canal+: “That’s very unfair.

“It’s the most complete game we played in the Champions League. They shot once, they scored.

“Their best player was the goalie. It’s a bit weird. I’m very proud of my team. We were far better than Liverpool.”

PSG midfielder Vitinha vowed that his side will overturn their one-goal deficit when they head to Anfield next week.

The 25-year-old said: “We will show the team we are, we will show our character.

“We’ll win there. With the match we played, the victory was more than deserved. Like at the start of the season, we had lots of opportunities, but we failed to score.”

The two sides will reconvene on Merseyside next Tuesday.

I’ve never had Botox or been under the knife – people can’t believe how OLD I really am & how easy it is to look so good

A 63-YEAR-OLD woman who looks 30 says people assume she’s had cosmetic surgery – but she says “vitality” doesn’t come from going “under the knife”.

Eudie Okoro developed healthy habits from a young age – and found people asking her secret to youthful looks.

The DJ and actor, from Wirral, Cheshire, said she has never had cosmetic surgery, Botox or fillers.

People think Eudie, who gets admired by men decades younger, is lying about her age – and can’t believe her look is all down to living a healthy lifestyle.

So many friends and family begged her for her secrets that she wrote a whole book to explain exactly how she did it.

Eudie, a widow, said: “I don’t use photoshop or wear much makeup – if you look after your skin, you don’t need to.

“And I don’t stand still – I’m always active and go for powerwalks.

“The food you eat and when you eat it makes a massive difference – everything you do has consequences on your body.

“I wrote my book to show I haven’t discovered a miracle drug or got Botox.

“Vitality doesn’t come from going under the knife – I just do things that work.”

Eudie said she started looking after herself in her teens, to maintain a youthful appearance, and stuck with it ever since.

And at 63, the effort she has put in shows – as people “spit out their drinks” when she reveals her age.

She even Instagram promoters trying to recruit her to advertise their makeup and jewellery, and gets men decades younger than her admiring because they assume she’s younger – but she does find it flattering.

One of Eudie’s top tips – which she has followed for years – is ensuring the first food you eat in the day is NOT sugar.

She said she personally selects to have raw fruits and vegetables – but never carbohydrates.

Eudie said: “We should never break our fast with sugar.

“In recent years, people seem to like avocado on toast – and avocado is great, it’s a superfood, but the toast isn’t.

“So have the avocado first – so that’s the thing to break the fast – then have the toast later.”

She added that sugar should always be avoided where possible, although not cut out completely.

She advised that if you eat a lot of sugar, use it as fuel by doing exercise.

She said: “People don’t realise sugar has a huge impact on humans – it can cause disease, health issues and definitely premature ageing.”

Eudie said a huge part of maintaining her youthful appearance is doing lots of exercise and staying active by incorporating it into your daily life.

For example, she said as well as regular trips to the gym, she’ll walk to the shop for groceries instead of jumping in the car.

She said: “It’s a 10km round trip, but it’s quite easy to include in your day.

“If you get the train or bus to work, you could get off early and walk the rest of the way to burn more calories.

“People don’t realise that lack of exercise is ageing in itself, we need to keep our muscles and bones strong.”

In terms of her skin health, her first tip is to ensure always wearing SPF to protect from harmful sun rays.

She said she drinks lots of water too – because “water is life” when it comes to maintaining skin health as well keeping the body healthy.

She also does face yoga and neck exercises, which are good for wrinkle prevention and reduction.

She makes face masks at home using corn flour, coffee, honey and baking soda – which she says are all natural and inexpensive ingredients to avoid wrinkles.

Eudie also recommends using a natural moisturiser – and said you should steer clear of expensive pots of skin cream.

She said: “I use organic coconut oil as moisturiser, and other natural substances like aloe vera and shea butter.

“Shea butter boosts collagen in the skin, which depletes as we age.

“And when I buy moisturisers, I look at just four ingredients – collagen, peptides, retinol and vitamin c.

“If I didn’t know better myself, I’d be among the people spending £50 on a jar of moisturiser – you’d think a high price tag means it does wonders.

“But good skin doesn’t come from a jar. It starts from the inside.”

Similarly, Eudie has never touched any kind of Botox, filler or cosmetic procedures – although she said she’s often accused of lying about it.

She said: “People say it’s photoshopped, or that I’ve had Botox.

“But I’m proving if you do the right things, you can achieve what you want to achieve without going under the knife and spending buckets in the process.

“I want to spread the message and show people you can achieve youthfulness naturally.”

Eudie’s book can be purchased here.

Why is turmeric good for anti-ageing?

A study published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that turmeric and curcumin may help prevent DNA damage and aid in DNA repair.

This is promising news for disease prevention and slowing the ageing process. It also:

Boosts Collagen Production: Collagen is a protein that maintains the skin’s elasticity and firmness. As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to wrinkles and sagging skin. Turmeric helps stimulate collagen synthesis, thereby promoting firmer and more youthful skin.

Improves Skin Health: Turmeric has been shown to improve various skin conditions, such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help soothe the skin, reduce redness, and promote a clearer complexion.

Who is Harlem Eubank?

Harlem Eubank was born in Brighton on February 23, 1993.

He competes in the welterweight division and comes from a famous boxing family.

Harlem was a Seagulls academy prospect and a karate world champion, who avoided boxing for the first 18 years of his life because of the burden that comes with following in famous footsteps.

But now the deep-thinking fighter — who sadly lost father Simon in September 2023 after a devastating battle with dementia — concedes it was probably a pre-written path for him.

In 2017, he told the Brighton Argus: “Having the name has always put more pressure on from the beginning.

“Everyone wants to fight the hardest against you and everyone wants to beat you which just makes every fight tougher.

“That is a good thing, though, because you get the best of every opponent so it is improving your game.”

What is Harlem Eubank’s relation to Chris Eubank Jr?

Harlem and Chris Eubank Jr are cousins.

Chris Eubank Jr is the son of former two-time world champion Chris Eubank Sr.

Harlem is the son of former boxer Simon Eubank — the brother of Eubank Sr.

What is Harlem Eubank’s boxing record?

Harlem has an unbeaten pro record of 20-0-0.

This means he has won all 20 of his fights so far, drawing and losing none.

He has recorded eight knock-out wins from those fights, giving him a KO ratio of 40%.

What has been said about Harlem Eubank?

Chris Eubank Jr had said of his cousin: “We are very close and he’s a new addition to Team Eubank and I wish him the very best.

He trains hard and I know he will put on a show.

“Harlem is a very slick fighter, good foot movement, good speed, one of those all-round fighters – he’s good at everything.

“His only weakness is his inexperience but he will learn and it will get better of course.

“He’s very exciting to watch. His first pro fight he got a first-round knockout, so he’s a chip off the old block.

Harlem Eubank hails from Brighton and started boxing at the age of 14

“He is definitely someone I would recommend watching.”

When is Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna?

  • The fight is live from the Brighton Centre on Friday, March 7.
  • The ring walk for Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna is scheduled for 10 pm GMT.

What TV channel is Harlem Eubank vs Tyrone McKenna on and can it be streamed?

Taoiseach to meet with British PM in first ever UK-Ireland Summit as ties between nations to ‘reach full potential’

TAOISEACH Micheal Martin and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are set to hold their first annual UK and Ireland summit in Liverpool.

The two leaders are expected to discuss growth, AI and security in the first of the yearly talks.

A new UK-Ireland co-operation plan is also due to be agreed upon by Martin and Starmer.

Members from Cabinet and other UK MPs are also expected to be in attendance at the summit.

This will include Tanaiste Simon Harris, Minister for Education Helen McEntee, Minister for Climate Darragh O’Brien and Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan.

UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner will also attend, with Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn, Minister for Investment Poppy Gustafsson and Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy also in attendance.

This comes as Martin and Starmer held a bilateral meeting over dinner last night.

The focus of their talks ranged from trade to peace efforts in Ukraine.

These are also issues thought to be at the forefront of the new summit.

The UK-Ireland 2030 co-operation plan will see an agreement made between the two nations over a number of issues.

These are expected to include energy security and the development of offshore wind projects.

Politicians from both Governments are also expected to welcome new Irish investments in the UK worth a staggering €221 million.

This will create 2,540 jobs across the country.

Before meeting with Starmer last night, the Taoiseach said both countries “are close economic partners with a bilateral trade relationship worth approximately €100 billion annually”.

He added: “Ireland is the UK’s sixth largest trading partner and the UK is Ireland’s second largest trading partner.”

Starmer also noted at a cultural event in Liverpool yesterday that the relationship between Ireland and the UK had not hit its full potential.

Today, Martin is due to attend a special European Council meeting in Brussels.

Here, he will be discussing the ongoing war in Ukraine and European defence.

‘Arrived’ – Sharlene Mawdsley and rest of Ireland team beam at European Indoor Championships in Netherlands

THE Irish athletics team have arrived in the Netherlands as they aim to keep the momentum around their sport up back home.

Day one of the European Indoor Athletics Championships could immediately bring with it a medal too through the 4x400m mixed relay.

She and the rest of the 4x400m mixed relay team could land a medal in Thursday’s final

The foursome are fancied to make the podium this evening, with the final at 8.50pm.

Sharlene Mawdsley and Phil Healy are both expected to line out for Team Ireland.

Conor Kelly, who set a new national Under-20 record in the 400m at the championships 12 days ago, is set to join them.

But the Dutch are favourites to claim gold on home soil.

Earlier in the evening Sarah Lavin — who won her seventh Irish national indoor title last month — will compete in the women’s 60m hurdles.

The race is live on RTÉ2 at 7.50pm. Should the Emerald AC star advance, she will run a semi-final and potential final tomorrow.

Joining them in action tonight is Cathal Doyle in the first round of the men’s 1500m.

The Clonliffe Harriers man, 27, claimed national glory at Abbotstown last month. The final takes place tomorrow.

The Championships coinciding with another mega weekend of rugby fare in the Six Nations has led to RTE announcing a ‘blockbuster’ schedule for the week.

Saturday’s slate is set to peak with the meeting of Ireland and France at the Aviva Stadium, where Simon Easterby‘s side will look to take a massive stride towards the Grand Slam.

From today though, it will be all about the European Indoor Athletics Championships.

Team Ireland will be led by Mawdsley and bolstered by Sarah Healy, Jodie McCann, Lavin, Kate O’Connor, Andrew Coscoran, Cathal Doyle, and Paralympian Orla Comerford.

The national broadcaster will be televising the competition on RTE 2 and the RTE Player, with coverage starting at 6pm this evening.

Paul O’Flynn will be joined by Derval O’Rourke, Rob Heffernan and Sonia O’Sullivan with David Gillick reporting from trackside with Greg Allen and David Matthews on commentary.

Gillick, of course, gained acclaim for his popular and insightful trackside interviews during the Paris Olympics last summer.

The athletics will continue across the weekend on RTÉ One, RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player with radio coverage across all news bulletins and on Saturday Sport and Sunday Sport on RTÉ Radio 1.

A jam-packed weekend of rugby starts on Friday night, when the Ireland U20s take on France in Cork in the Six Nations.

Daire O’Brien will be alongside Darren Cave and Hannah Tyrrell for live coverage on RTE 2 and RTE Player, starting at 7:35pm.

Commentary from Virgin Media Park comes from Connor Morris and Fiona Coghlan.

The RTE Player will have standalone coverage of England vs Italy from Bath.

LE CRUNCH CLASH

Saturday, however, is the main event, when defending champions Ireland continue their pursuit of a third successive title at the Aviva Stadium.

To do so, they will have to manoeuvre the formidable French, led by the mercurial Antoine Dupont.

Jacqui Hurley will be joined from 1:15pm on RTE 2 and RTE Player by Jamie Heaslip and Stephen Ferris with commentary from Hugh Cahill, Donal Lenihan and Bernard Jackman.

On RTE Radio 1, Des Cahill will be live from the Aviva with analysts Niamh Briggs and Shane Byrne.

Michael Corcoran, meanwhile, will bring listeners all the action along with co-commentator James Downey.

In GAA, the Allianz Leagues in football and hurling are heating up and Saturday Sport and Sunday Sport on RTE Radio 1 will have live commentaries and reports across the weekend.

And on Sunday night at 9:30pm on RTE 2, Joanne Cantwell will be joined by Jackie Tyrrell and Liam Sheedy for highlights and analysis of a very busy weekend of hurling including Limerick vs Galway, Clare vs Cork and Kilkenny vs Tipperary.

In Camogie, RTE Sport Online will have the latest from the Very National League including Galway vs Tipperary, Dublin vs Waterford and Cork vs Kilkenny.
