ITV have officially confirmed the show will be back after The Sun exclusively revealed that an announcement was imminent.

Freddie impressed as host with darts superstar Luke Littler also appearing as a special guest on the programme.

Former Top Gear host Freddie has now signed on for a brand new series with it expected to air later this year.

Four hour-long episodes will be broadcast as well as an additional extra-festive special.

When it aired, last year’s festive show topped ITV‘s ratings on Saturday and Sunday and eclipsed those tuning in for long-standing shows including The Chase and The 1% Club.

Now. the future of his hit BBC series Field of Dreams is also confirmed with it set to return to BBC One with a third series.

The much loved show saw the former Cricketer on a mission to find untapped cricketing talent in his hometown of Preston.

And viewers were left in tears as the second series came to an end.

The show followed the former Top Gear presenter as he created a brand-new cricket team with a group of promising teens.

Freddie, 46, wanted to inspire a new generation of adolescents to play cricket.

He returned to his hometown of Preston on a mission to prove that anyone can play the sport, regardless of their background.

Fans followed his journey as he struggled after some of the tryouts had never even played the sport before.

Over a number of weeks he attempted to develop this new squad as he wanted to make the lads more confident in themselves.

On the BBC One finale, Freddie took the team on tour as they played a competitive match in India.

Even though his team was defeated, Freddie was still impressed with their teamwork on the field.

The final scenes showed each member of his team receiving a special cap from the athlete himself to remember their shared journey.

Fans of the show broke down in tears as they were left inspired by the ‘uplifting’ series.

Taking to social media, one viewer gushed: “Fabulous series.

“Everyone involved should be so proud of themselves. Well done lads. Well done Freddie and Kyle. Cried happy tears at the end.”

A second stated: “Respect to Freddie, Kyle and all the boys. Brilliant TV and have shed a few tears.”

While a third asked: “Can anyone watch #fieldofdreams without crying?”

“I’m not crying, you are!”, exclaimed a fourth fan.

And a fifth added: “I can’t believe I’m so invested in (and crying about) a bunch of lads I’ve only known for 3 hours.”

Some were even so impressed that they called for the former cricketer to receive a knighthood from His Majesty The King.

One fan gushed: “Sir Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff has a bit of a ring to it.”

MAFS Australia fans insist bride and groom won’t last as they point out huge ‘issue’ in their relationship

And viewers already appeared to be rooting for the couple as they exchanged their vows – but not everyone was convinced.

After Billy was seen arriving to the ceremony in a car with his mum, and sharing a close bond with her, MAFS fans have coined him a ‘mummy’s boy.’

Billy also has a tattoo that reads ‘mum’ on his arm.

And they’ve claimed that Billy and Sierah won’t work because she’s “too independent” for him.

One person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Don’t pair the traumatised very independent woman with the mummy’s boy, that’s incredibly unfair to her.”

Someone else wrote: “Billy and Sierah look great together. I hope being a mama’s boy won’t impact their marriage. His mum seems lovely too.”

And another person echoed: “Reckon Billy’s mum is gonna be a bit precious about letting her boy go.”

The couple’s marriage has certainly got off to a promising start, with the pair connecting over their humour.

Sierah has told 9Entertainment: “The whole wedding was a crazy experience. Walking into the reception… the way it was set up, the flower arrangements and the venue. I was just so excited to meet him.

“Everyone got amongst it – Billy’s family and friends, my family and friends. It was a hoot.”

Billy is originally from England, but moved Down Under 15 years ago with his family.

But he does make regular trips back to the UK, and has shared snaps of himself in the Peak District, London and Ipswich on his socials.

A source told the MailOnline that it was “important” to cast someone from England.

They said: “The show’s success overseas has shown us that viewers love seeing a mix of backgrounds and cultures.

“Billy brings that unique British charm and authenticity that we believe will resonate well with the audience.”
