Emmerdale and Corrie legend reveals she’d jump at a soap return as she reveals her first sitcom is heading for TV

SOAP star Hayley Tamaddon has revealed she’d jump at the chance to return to Emmerdale or Coronation Street.

The actress, 48, proved a hit with viewers in both ITV dramas, filming more than 350 episodes in total as Del Dingle and Andrea Beckett, respectively.

And she’s in the rare soapland position of portraying two characters who left without being killed off.

Del fled the Dales £20,000 richer after tricking David Metcalfe, while Andrea swapped Weatherfield for a life in Jersey with her lover Lloyd Mullaney.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun on behalf of Heart Bingo, Hayley said: “Listen, if they ever ask, I will jump at the chance.

“I think, you know, people forget how hard an actor works on a soap. I’ve loved my time on both Emmerdale and Corrie. I would go back to either in a heartbeat.

“They have such a big piece of my heart. And if EastEnders came along one day and said, we’re looking for a northerner, I would gladly go and be in EastEnders. I think as an actor in this current climate, it’s hard to get a job.”

Regardless of whether ITV’s soap chiefs take a leaf out of rival EastEnders book and bring back former talent, single mum Hayley, 48, has a big year ahead.

She’s taking her one-woman show on board a cruise ship and, when she’s not at sea, she’ll be focused on bringing her self-penned sitcom to life.

The project, which was first started in 2019, has gone through various iterations and is now in production with hopes that it will be commissioned by a major channel or platform in the near future.

Hayley said: “I’ve worked really hard writing it. And I love writing. It’s a real passion of mine.

“And I think just be happy. Just do what makes you happy. Do what you can to earn the money.

“You know, because that’s it now. You know, being a single parent, it’s just me. Me and my little boy and the help of my mum and dad, which is amazing.

“I take the work where it comes and I’m truly grateful for every job I get.”

Her sitcom took a major step forward in 2022 after Hayley entered it into a competition.

She was one of four winners out of 1,000 entrants and won the opportunity to have her script read to industry heavyweights Netflix, ITV, BBC, and Channel 4.

An all-female production company then came onboard and offered to help her make it a reality.

Hayley said: “I have rewritten it. So it’s nothing like what it was. It’s almost like starting again.

“But I’ve learned as a writer, this is how it is in this industry. You know, some people write things and they don’t see it on screen for another nine years. I mean, I’ve written myself as the lead.

“And when I started writing it, I was only 43 and I’m 48 now. So I’m hoping I can still play it in another four years from now.”

Hayley Tamaddon's Career Timeline

Early Career: After training at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Hayley began her career performing in musical theatre productions such as Grease, Fame, and Mamma Mia!.

Emmerdale: Hayley gained wider recognition when she joined the cast of the ITV soap Emmerdale in 2005 as Delilah Dingle, a role she played until 2007.

Dancing on Ice: Hayley participated in and won the fifth series of Dancing on Ice, partnered with professional skater Daniel Whiston. Her performance received high praise, and she was considered one of the strongest contestants in the show’s history.

Pantomime and Theatre Work: Hayley appeared in several pantomimes and stage productions, continuing to showcase her skills in musical theatre.

Coronation Street: Hayley joined the cast of Coronation Street in 2013, another iconic ITV soap opera, where she played Andrea Beckett, a friend of Steve McDonald. She remained on the show until 2015.

Dancing on Ice: All-Stars: Hayley returned to Dancing on Ice for its All-Stars series, competing again with Daniel Whiston. She finished as the runner-up.

Theatre and Guest Appearances: Hayley continued to work in theatre, appearing in productions such as Chicago and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. She also made guest appearances on various television programmes. More recently she’s had presenting roles on BBC’s Morning Live.

She will be joined by the likes of Sharlene Mawdsley, Phil Healy and others in the Netherlands this week with action being shown on RTE.

It comes after a 2024 that saw her come fifth at the World Indoor Championships, suffer a setback at the Europeans in Rome, and compete at the Paris Olympics.

Off the track, meanwhile, Lavin was surrounded by a loving family after experiencing dreadful personal tragedy.

Here is everything you need to know about Sarah Lavin.

How old is Sarah Lavin?

Sarah Lavin was born in May 1994, making her 30 years of age.

She started athletics when she was just seven and ran in school and for Emerald AC, while Lavin was also coached by Noelle Morrissey in juvenile competitions.

Sarah revealed that she was inspired by Irish Olympic icon Sonia O’Sullivan winning silver at the 2000 Olympics.

She told Image.ie: “I was seven years old when I took up running but from an early age, it was honestly the impact of seeing Sonia O’Sullivan win her silver medal in Sydney in 2000 that gave me real inspiration.

“I just remember thinking I can do that!

“The exposure that women’s athletics in the sports world had then was just amazing and the whole country got so behind it.

“So I started begging my parents to join a running club.

“The fact that I went on to win the Munster Championships in the same year, and then on to win at a national level in Tullamore, of course, did help me twist their arms.

“I did however do a lot of sports when I was younger, including basketball and Gaelic as well as all of the athletics such as cross country and sprinting.

“It wasn’t until I was about 14 or 15 that I specialised in hurdles.”

Her talent was quickly evident and accumulated a formidable CV as an athlete.

In 2013, she won a silver medal at the European Junior Championships, and went on to come ninth in the European Indoor Championships in 2021.

That same year, she made her Olympic debut in Tokyo and won bronze in the 100m hurdles at the European Games in 2023.

Last summer, Lavin competed at her second Olympics in Paris, getting to the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles.

How did her family influence her?

Lavin is part of a close-knit family, and credited her parents for assisting her in achieving her athletics goals.

In that same interview, she explained: “My earliest mentors were my family and particularly my parents as they have always supported me, both with encouragement and praise as well as the practicalities of giving me lifts to races, training, competitions and events, and financing them too.

“I have to credit my brother, Joseph and sister, Nicole too, for not being resentful about that.

“Both of my siblings are really sporty themselves. My sister went on to do sports science at the University of Limerick and is now a dietician.

“We share a house together and she looks after my meal plans very well.”

She also has a dog, named Olly.

Who was her partner Craig Breen?

Tragedy struck in 2023 when Sarah Lavin’s boyfriend Craig Breen sadly died.

The motorsport star passed away following a testing accident in April, colliding with a pole ahead of the Croatia Rally.

The 33-year-old had been in a long-term relationship with Lavin, who paid tribute to the Waterford-native as her “best friend” and “true love”.

In an emotional Instagram post, she said: “My best friend, I will miss you forever Craig. Thank you for showing me true love.

“You were so much more than a driver to so many people. I will love you always, sweet dreams sweetheart ❤

When she was named flagbearer alongside Shane Lowry for the Paris Olympics, Lavin dedicated the landmark to Breen.

She said: “Yeah, it’s been incredible difficult from a performance perspective.

“Going into Tokyo, I’d broken 13 seconds once and this time round I think I’ve qualified 10 times in the last 12 months for this Games.

“I was the last person on the plane the last time round, I think I was the first from the athletics side this time.

“I’m running for a lot. And I hope to keep Craig close to me for the next few days, as always.”

Kerry Katona reveals breast reduction plans as star says she ‘trips over nipples’ and needs op for ‘health and safety’

KERRY Katona has revealed her plans for a breast reduction, admitting she ‘trips over her nipples’ and needs the op for ‘health and safety’ reasons.

Taking to Instagram today, the former Atomic Kitten, 44, explained her decision, saying she was unhappy with how her body has changed following her recent two-stone weight loss.

Speaking after a home workout, Kerry told her followers she was heading out for the surgery in only a matter of hours.

She said in a video: “Good morning everybody. The muscles are building up, I’m getting there.

“But I’m dead excited because today I’m off to Pall Mall [Cosmetics] for a consultation for my boobs.”

She went on to joke about the impact her breasts have on her daily life, adding: “Seriously, I lie down and I look like a nine-year-old boy. Take my bra off, I trip over my nipples.”

Wearing a grey ribbed vest with her blonde hair in a bun, she continued: “It’s a health and safety issue! I walk around my house in a hard hat and a visibility jacket.

“So I decided it’s got to be done just for my own health and safety, people. Pall Mall, I’ll see you later today guys.”

In 2023, Kerry shocked fans after revealing she’d already had two breast reductions.

The singer admitted that, despite going under the knife to reduce the size of her assets, they keep growing.

She took to Instagram with a motivational video while working out on a treadmill.

Kerry exclaimed: “Sorry I’m a bit late, I have been up since four, but I’ve been dealing with all kinds of s***e.

“Yesterday I got into my size twelve jeans, how awesome is that?” she continued.

Later on, the star made the surprising confession to fans as she worked up a sweat in an Instagram live, where one fan addressed her boobs.

She exclaimed: “Listen, my nipples, if I took my bra off with my nipples at this treadmill, it’s like a shoelace getting stuck in an escalator, we’re all s****d”

Another fan commented: “Thought u had ur boobs reduced they look even bigger.”

To which, the media personality replied: “I have!! Twice!!! Think it’s the soap and water! They just keep growing back!!”

And, in January, Kerry cancelled her facelift after her children begged her not to go ahead with the procedure.

The Celebrity Big Brother legend previously revealed plans for the lower facelift and told how Katie Price would be moving in to help her recover from the op.

But Kerry later made a U-turn and insisted it’s “not the right time”.

Kerry Katona's cosmetic surgery timeline

Here we look at the star's changing face - from fresh-faced pop singer to the latest £3,000 tweakment.

Kerry first went under the knife in 2004 for a boob job, and again in 2008 for another breast enhancement and liposuction.

In 2010 she also revealed she had tried to turn back time with some facial tweaks.

Kerry was bitten by the vampire facial bug in 2013 and feared she would die after a shocking reaction to the procedure, popularised by Kim Kardashian.

In 2019, Kerry sparked outrage by endorsing a ‘Katona Package’ at a London clinic offering “2ml face filler and one area fat dissolving” for £699.

When the mum-of-five approached her 40th, she celebrated with fillers and fat-dissolving injections in her chin to “enhance my natural beauty”.

Two years later Kerry joked she’d got a “brand new face” after a procedure called CoolSculpting, which freezes fat cells under the skin and destroys them. She had some fat removed from her chin and Botox injections.

In 2023, the TV star revealed a tighter jawline after treating herself to a “non-invasive facelift”.

In early 2024, Kerry had a much more invasive eye lift and brow lift in January, at a cost of over £3,000.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “My eldest three girls really didn’t want me to do it, they were begging me not to and said, ‘Mum, please don’t’.

“I do go off of what my kids think and I knew they didn’t want me to so that massively impacted my decision.

“They don’t think I need it yet and they know how tough the recovery will be, so they really didn’t want me to do it.”

Kerry shares Molly, 23, and Lilly-Sue, 22, with first husband Brian McFadden.

She is mum to Heidi, 17, and Max, 16, from her second marriage to Mark Croft.

Kerry’s youngest is daughter DJ, 10, whose dad is George Kay, who passed away in 2019.

Horror leaked vid shows Putin’s war dead stacked like slabs of meat…no WONDER he wants Trump to force Ukraine into peace

A SHOCKING video has been leaked showing the full horror of Vladimir Putin’s war.

Hundreds of bodies of Putin’s paratroopers killed on his cannon fodder frontline are seen in black plastic bags.

The macabre footage is reportedly in Ussuriysk, after the war dead from the elite 83rd Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade were returned for distribution to their families.

The scene – if confirmed – is one of the most chilling and disturbing of the three year war.

One estimate says 400 bodies are stashed in a warehouse in Ussuriysk after being flown seven time zones from the Kursk region of Russia where the men died.

The video has surfaced as Donald Trump says he is convinced Putin wants a peace deal.

Yet the Kremlin dictator keeps throwing more troops onto the frontline and bombing civilians in Ukraine.

Today he hit a hotel in Kryvyi Rih, killing four and wounding more than 30.

British and Americans were among the guests who narrowly escaped death in the hotel.

On the footage of the rows of body bags, piled high, a voice says: “Ussuriysk, March 2025, the guys, the paratroopers are going back home.”

Ukrainian war analyst Yuriy Butusov said: “Today, servicemen from the 83rd Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade returned to their home port.

“Each one needs to be packed and taken to their address in Primorsky region.”

Ussuriysk is seven time zones – 5,750 miles – from the war arena.

The men all died in the same battle, it is believed.

Reports say that the 83rd Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade has been badly hit seeking to reclaim territory lost to Ukraine in Russia’s Kursk region.

The brigade has been involved in the invasion of Ukraine throughout Putin’s war.

Ukrainian military analyst Dmitry Snegirev reported on 25 February: “I want to stress colossal losses of personnel of Russian occupational troops.

“I am speaking about the 83rd, so-called ‘Ussuriysk’ Brigade.”

It may be that the body bags in the footage refer to these losses last month.

Snegirev said: “We can conclude that from 480 personnel of this specific battalion, which was sent to the Kursk region, 400 of them were utilised (killed) by the Defence Forces of Ukraine.”

He added that the scale of these losses were “unprecedented for Russian troops.”

“I also want to stress that the 83rd brigade is considered to be one of the most elite brigades.

Separately, Vladimir Putin today awarded a posthumous Hero of Russia Gold Star honour to the widow of special forces officer Lt-Col Sergey Chebnyov, 45, a father of three.

He was killed last August, preventing a Ukrainian push towards Kursk nuclear power plant, according to Putin, after Russian troops were surprised by a sudden invasion from their enemy.

The medal was presented to his widow, Olga.

In a Kremlin ceremony Putin said: “I would like to present you with the Star of the Hero, which was awarded to your husband for the feat he performed in defence of the Russian Fatherland in the Kursk direction.

“He and his comrades prevented the enemy from moving in the Kursk nuclear power plant.”

Olga told him: “To us, he was a dad, a husband, a friend. Well, he turned out to be a hero.”

Putin and the Russian authorities have not commented on the video purporting to show the hundreds of dead paratroopers.
