Nigel Farage’s No2 forgot the surnames of two Reform UK defectors – at an event to unveil them.

Richard Tice bungled during a photocall at a Glasgow chippy with councillors John Gray and Ross Lambie, who have both jumped ship from the Tories.

The Reform UK MP referred to them as “John and Ross”, but when pressed by a journalist to name the pair – or what councils they represented – MP Mr Tice appeared stumped and said: “I’m answering policy questions. “

Mr Tice then proceeded to repeat the answer “John and Ross” and said: “Next question!”

The photocall took place at Glasgow’s famous Val D’Oro fish and chip shop, amid a surge in the polls for Reform UK – who have climbed from one per cent support in Scotland to around 15 per cent in the past year.

But polling experts have said their rise is eating into Labour and Tory support – potentially paving the way for the SNP to cling on to power at the 2026 Holyrood election.

Renfrewshire councillor Mr Gray and South Lanarkshire councillor Mr Lambie posed for a snap with Mr Tice outside the chippy, in Townhead, just minutes after the surname gaffe from the Reform MP.

Their switch brings the total number of office holders for the party in Scotland to eight councillors, despite having no MPs or MSPs elected here.

Asked why he believes support for Reform is growing north of the border, Mr Tice said: “People are sick and tired of getting poorer under the SNP, essentially financially poorer, but also the health system is getting worse.

“Likewise the education system is getting worse, and I think people are saying, ‘do you know what, you folks, you’ve had your go, you’ve blown it, you’ve messed up, let’s give these other people a go.”

Mr Tice, who knocked back the opportunity to eat a chip despite the encouragement of eager photographers outside the chippy, also suggested opposition parties at Holyrood are “terrified” of Reform ahead of the 2026 vote.

He said: “I think the good people of Scotland are realising that they’re being conned, they’re being lied to, they’re being misled, and it’s an outrage, and we’re going to take them on.”

Quizzed on First Minister John Swinney’s plans to host a cross-party summit aimed at combating the far-right, Mr Tice said: “He’s clearly terrified and he’s creating a coalition of the terrified and throwing around juvenile smears.”

Speaking after First Minister’s Questions, Scottish Tory leader Russell Findlay claimed that anyone switching to Reform “only emboldens” John Swinney and the SNP.

He added: “I’m wholly committed to holding the SNP government to account and every single vote for Reform is only going to benefit the SNP.”

A statement from the WST later read: “Some fans were unable to watch the conclusion of the final match on Table One.

“The Tournament Organising Committee has since communicated with Kai Tak Sports Park and the relevant departments.

“We are pleased to confirm that spectators will be permitted to remain in the venue for the conclusion of all evening sessions for the rest of the tournament.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

“Spectators who had tickets for this game will be able to exchange these for seats of the same value on Wednesday March 5 or Thursday March 6.”

BAFFLED Spotify users have complained that they’re hearing ads – despite forking out for paid memberships.

Normally paying for a Spotify Premium plan means you don’t hear advertisements interrupting your tunes.

But dozens of users have flocked to Spotify’s official forums to complain that they’re being forced to list to ads.

Spotify has designated the problem as “under investigation“, which means that it hasn’t been fixed yet.

One Spotify subscriber moan: “Just started happening to me this morning on web browser.”

Another said: “I also have advertising with premium. Also can’t choose what I want to hear.”

An irate fan added: “Is this getting fixed or what? We pay to not hear ads, it can’t be that hard. If I hear the ad for national debt relief one more time, I’m going to lose my mind.”

And one wrote: “Me too. I’ve been listening all morning and then all of a sudden getting loads of ads.

“It’s acting as if I don’t have Premium.”

The issue seems to be affecting users on different devices, including in the mobile app, on speakers, and on web browsers too.

Spotify admitted: “We’ve received reports that active Premium users are hearing ads interrupting their listening experience.”

Thankfully the music giant did serve up some potential fixes for the issue.

“If you’ve experienced an issue, please try resyncing your account info,” Spotify advised.

“To do this, you’ll need to log out of the app and back in again 2-3 times in a row, as this will force a resync.

“We also recommend force closing the app on mobile and then restarting it, if the above doesn’t do the trick.

“For those of you experiencing issues with external devices (such as speakers), please make sure to restart the device as well.”

But it’s entirely possible that these fixes won’t work for you, given that Spotify is still investigating the issue.

It’s not just ads either: some Spotify users are saying that they can’t pick the songs that they want to play.

That’s another perk of Premium memberships, which has seemingly disappeared for some users.

Pretty shoddy for the price I am paying.

One wrote: “I have the same issue on my iPhone and Echo speaker. I also cannot play albums in full or in order now, just whatever the app wants me to hear.

And one added: “Just started getting this issue this morning. Subscription is active but can only play on shuffle and getting ads I shouldn’t be.

“Happens on any device despite it showing correct subscription level.”

The Sun has asked Spotify for comment and will update this story with any response.
