The priciest movie ticket in NYC is hiding beneath a historic hotel and restaurant

New York’s most lavish, tantalizingly secretive dinner-and-a-movie date is nearly impossible to book — and costs five times more than Regal, AMC or Loews. On a recent evening, 66 in-the-know cinephiles snuck down to a Parisian Art Deco theater hidden on the cellar level of Tribeca’s top five-star hotel for what was certainly the city’s...

Celtic blast fans’ ‘unauthorised banners’ at Parkhead after ‘concerns communicated by our own supporters’

CELTIC have hit out at fans flying ‘unauthorised banners’ at Parkhead.

Police confirmed they were probing a recent display which honoured IRA terrorist Brendan ‘Bik’ McFarlane during a minute’s applause for ex-Hoops player Evan Williams.

The display a week later sparked fury and a police probe – Hoops officials have now criticised recent ‘unauthorised’ displays[/caption]

An image of the convicted bomber and messages in English and Irish Gaelic were displayed in the Green Brigade’s corner of Celtic Park ahead of the match against Aberdeen last month.

The same area of ultras also displayed an anti-Israel tifo display and banner a week earlier in the Champions League play-off with Bayern Munich.

And Celtic have now addressed the issue of ‘unauthorised banners’ in a statement.

Hoops officials did not pinpoint the specific displays which defied their protocols but “share the concerns” made by some of the club’s own supporters.

They insist displays “should support the team, or otherwise celebrate Celtic, and be consistent with the terms of the Celtic Social Charter, Social Mission Statement” and admit some recent banners have not been submitted for pre-approval.

The Hoops are now reviewing their processes for future displays.

A statement, posted on the club website this evening, said: “Celtic Football Club shares the concerns communicated by our own supporters regarding the use of banners at recent matches.

“Celtic is an inclusive football club open to all, with no political agenda, as is clear from the Club’s Social Charter and Social Mission Statement, and no group of supporters, or any other organisation, speaks on behalf of Celtic.

“Everyone associated with Celtic recognises the important part that Celtic supporters play in inspiring the team and contributing to the Celtic spirit.

“Fan displays should support the team, or otherwise celebrate Celtic, and be consistent with the terms of the Celtic social charter, social mission statement and other terms that apply to all supporters’ enjoyment of Celtic.

“That is why the Club developed a protocol regarding the use of banners and organised displays at Celtic Park, or any other stadia where Celtic plays, requiring the pre-approval of fan displays.

“Although there have been many occasions on which the Club’s protocol has been followed with great success and support for the team and for Celtic, unfortunately, there have been instances in the past weeks where the protocol has not been followed, with unauthorised banners, which had not been submitted for pre-approval in line with the protocol, displayed at Celtic Park.

“The Club is reviewing these events and relevant processes.

“We have enjoyed a good season so far, and we want to achieve, together with our supporters, as much as we possibly can as we approach the latter part of the season.

“We thank our fans for their continuing support and collective understanding that Club protocols, and safety and competition regulations, must be adhered to in order to protect the Club and our fans, so that all Celtic supporters feel able to attend Celtic Park and all matches involving Celtic.”

The display ahead of kick off against Aberdeen sparked fury and read: “They said he was a rebel then. He’s a hero now.”

It followed the funeral of McFarlane in Belfast earlier that day.

Police later confirmed to the Scottish Sun that they had been alerted to the display and were investigating. A spokesperson said: “A complaint has been received which is being assessed by officers.”

Much-loved Italian restaurant closes its doors after 12 years on high street

DINERS were devastated to see a beloved Italian restaurant shut down after 12 years.

In another hit to the hospitality industry, a staple high street venue served its last customer.

Forza Win, located in London’s Camberwell, made the sad announcement on social media.

“It’s been 12 years! Five as a supper club, seven as a restaurant, two of which we’ve spent on Camberwell Church Street,” bosses revealed last month.

They added: “We’ve had the immense privilege of working on over a decade of Forza Win in its many iterations and couldn’t be prouder of what who has been part of it has achieved.

“All of that said, we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.

“We’ve spent the best part of a decade trying to explain that Forza Win and Forza Wine are two different things (that ‘e’ doing a lot of heavy lifting) – now it’s only Forza Wine you need to remember, and we’ll be slinging cauliflower fritti and custardos in more postcodes very soon.

“And where Camberwell is concerned, we’ve found someone lovely to take over the space and serve the community – more on that soon.”

The popular restaurant was created by childhood pals Bash Redford and Michael Lavery all the way back in 2012.

It originally started as an informal pop-up eatery but gained enough traction to open as an official restaurant in 2017.

Their delicious menu was hailed for it’s traditional five-course options and homemade Clemencello.

Bash and Michael served their last tables on February 21, but their Forza Wine brand is still going strong.

There are two London sites in Peckham and at the National Theatre.

This comes as many other restaurants have faced the same fate – with even industry giants struggling.

Customers recently cried “so sad” as a private chef to royals and billionaires closed down a famed UK venue after just six months.

Fans were stunned by the announcement that the Unagi chain would be shuttering one of their popular sites.

Meanwhile, the creator of a Michelin-backed restaurant has confirmed a devastating closure after 14 years.

Loyal diners were disappointed to hear one of their favourite family-run venues was shutting down forever.

What is happening to the hospitality industry?

By Laura McGuire, consumer reporter

MANY Food and drink chains have been struggling in recently as the cost of living has led to fewer people spending on eating out.

Businesses had been struggling to bounce back after the pandemic, only to be hit with soaring energy bills and inflation.

Multiple chains have been affected, resulting in big-name brands like Wetherspoons and Frankie & Benny’s closing branches.

Some chains have not survived, Byron Burger fell into administration last year, with owners saying it would result in the loss of over 200 jobs.

Pizza giant, Papa Johns is shutting down 43 of its stores soon.

Tasty, the owner of Wildwood, said it will shut sites as part of major restructuring plans.

And, just last month The Sun reported a BBC star and Gordon Ramsay protege was compelled to close another venue after “vowing to do it right” this time.

TV chef Mark Sargeant, 51, waved goodbye to The Restaurant MS in Folkestone, Kent, after a string of setbacks.

Elsewhere, yet another BBC star suddenly closed his restaurant after nine months – despite a £400,000 revamp just last year.

Caldesi opened in Belsize, north London last April, serving upmarket Italian food.

But, just months later, bosses confirmed the restaurant’s upcoming closure on Instagram.

Real Sociedad 1 Man Utd 1: Controversial VAR penalty cancels out Zirkzee opener as Amorim rues chances to put tie to bed

NO English football fan will forget the name Mikel Oyarzabal any time soon.

He was the Spain striker who popped up with the late winner which broke Three Lions hearts in the Euro 2024 final.

Eight months later he was at it again – the calmest man on the park as he stroked home the penalty that keeps this Europa League tie very much in the balance.

It meant more penalty woe for Ruben Amorim’s men four days after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Fulham in a shoot-out.

For a few second half minutes at least – it looked as though Manchester United were going to put that disappointment firmly behind them.

And there was redemption for Joshua Zirkzee who had seen the final spot-kick saved by Bernd Leno – before slumping to the turf in tears.

This time he was all smiles as he swept home a cross from Alejandro Garnacho to give the visitors a crucial lead on the hour.

But Oyarzabal – just as he did in Berlin last summer – had the last word and the tie is still on a knife edge.

As is United’s season.

Ruben Amorim has tried to play down the importance of winning this competition – but surely he isn’t kidding anybody.

Winning a trophy would lift the gloom which is hanging over Old Trafford, not to mention give them a passport to the Champions League next season.

It would also put a very different slant on a season which is in danger of becoming the worst since the club was relegated more than 50 years ago.

Yet for all the problems in the current campaign, United have not lost a game in Europe – which is why they are among the favourites to go all the way to Bilbao on May 21.

So there was so much at stake in San Sebastian – particularly after their FA Cup exit.

And Amorim had to go into the game with a squad of just 18 – and only five outfield players on the bench – as the injury problems got worse still.

United’s form at Old Trafford has been so dismal this season that it was hard to work out what would be classed as a good result here.

Yet they had the best chances of a largely forgettable first half with the first one falling to Garnacho who cut in but thumped his shot straight at home keeper Alex Remiro.

Rasmus Hojlund was then furious with Diogo Dalot for passing up the chance to put him in on goal – choosing instead to go back to Garnacho.

The Danish forward has not scored since mid December – and no wonder with that kind of service from the wings.

Like United, Sociedad did not look to have much confidence or energy early on.

They have saved their best form for the cup competitions this season and currently languish in mid-table in their domestic league.

But star man Martin Zubimendi – who has been a target for Arsenal and Liverpool in the last 12 months – was pulled out due to illness.

He is likely to be back for the return next week so that only added to the feeling this was United’s chance to take the tie by the scruff of the neck.

They had opportunities to do so as well – most notably when Dalot chose the right option – cutting it back for skipper Bruno Fernandes.

His effort was blocked by Aritz Elustondo and the rebound fell for Joshua Zirkzee who was denied by Remiro before poking the loose ball wide.

Fernandes returned the compliment to his fellow Portuguese as his searching chip forward was met by the head of Dalot but his effort lacked the power

The big plus was that Sociedad had posed almost no threat to United at all in the first half – although they did have a chance soon after the break.

Takefusa Kubo’s cross was flicked on by Oyarzabal but Leny Yoro got across to make the block.

However the best openings were still coming at the other end as Fernandes curled a free-kick from 20 yards narrowly wide.

Then Patrick Dorgu’s cross found Garnacho at the back post but he directed his shot into the side-netting.

It felt like things were starting to happen for United and just before the hour mark the breakthrough came.

Garnacho rolled a pass to Zirkzee on the edge of the box and his low effort went through the legs of a defender which may have unsighted Remiro as it zipped past him.

Nobody could deny the Dutch forward deserved his moment after what he went through on Sunday.

It was what United deserved but as we know – nothing is ever straight forward for the Red Devils these days.

The VAR spotted a handball by Fernandes as a corner was headed down and when the Slovakian ref went to check the monitor he agreed.

Oyarzabal never looked like missing and the tie was back in the balance.

Sociedad could even have nicked it late on as Sheraldo Becker’s cross was right into the path of Orri Oskarsson but he somehow planted it the wrong side of the post.
