Palmer, 22, was left out of the club’s Conference League squad for the League Phase.

He finished the game on the winning side despite a stubborn performance from the hosts.

Reece James finally broke the deadlock in the 46th minute before Enzo Fernandes made it 2-0 in the 65th minute.

It was after the Argentine’s calm finish that Palmer celebrated with a taste of beer.

A cup of beer had been thrown onto the pitch from the crowd as the England international joined his team-mates.

He could be seen holding the plastic cup in jest in front of team-mate Trevoh Chalobah.

Fans loved the moment from Palmer as they reacted on social media.

One posted: “Raise that beer high! You all deserve it! Congrats.”

A fourth said: “Cole Palmer says, ‘Hold my Beer’.”

Palmer finished his match without a goal or assist as his dip in form continued.

He was subbed out of the action in the 72nd minute and replaced by Jadon Sancho.

He has not picked up a single goal contribution since scoring against Bournemouth on January 14.

After the win over Southampton, he released a ten-word statement in which he insisted that he “will be back”.

In total this season, he has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Blues let Copenhagen back into the tie before full time, as Gabriel Periera headed in.

Manager Enzo Maresca insisted that the goal should have been avoided.

He said: “Because it has been a little bit of a sloppy goal.

“We can avoid that. It’s football, it can happen.

“Now 90 minutes have finished and now we have 90 more minutes against them.

“The main game for us is Sunday’s game, at home and we need our fans for 100 minutes behind the team and pushing the team.

“If we can win against Leicester on Sunday, we can do one more step to finishing in the Champions League… top four or top five, I do not know.”

It seemed that singing superstar Justin Timberlake was enjoying a drink in the boozer – but was everything as it seemed?

Although the man in question bore a striking resemblance to the Mirrors hitmaker, both Taylor and his followers were left disputing if it was actually the real deal or just a very close lookalike.

Taylor wrote alongside the clip: “Am I tweaking or is JT at my local pub.”

He then added: “2 more beers and I’m convinced this guy could sing Mirrors to me.”

As Taylor enjoyed his drink, ‘Justin’ could be seen chatting to two of his pals.

He was dressed smartly in a bright blue flat cap with a matching jacket.

Whilst it was likely just a lookalike, TikTok users were left debating and joking in the comments section of the clip.

One social media user said: “It’s not him but it is him.”

Another added: “I watched this 10x sober and I’m still not sure.”

Before a third wrote: “HAS THE INTERNET COME TO A CONCLUSION YET? Because that’s HIM, but also… no??”

2025's Jewellery Trends: What's in and what's out?

Designer and founder of AJOSEPO, Tofi Caroline Adedoyi revealed the jewellery industry is undergoing an exciting transformation.

Big gold earrings – OUT

Chunky gold earrings inspired by the ’80s have fallen out of fashion. Instead, there is a growing shift towards nostalgic ’90s jewellery pieces like hoop earrings that convey elegance and sophistication in 2025.

Bold stack rings – IN

Stacking rings are set to make a bold statement in 2025. Expect to see asymmetrical stacks featuring irregular shapes and sculptural designs, adding depth and character. Remember to use odd numbers for a more dynamic look—stacking three rings creates a visually engaging and harmonious effect. And choose stackable rings made from solid precious metals such as silver and gold, rather than gemstones for a more sophisticated appearance.

Chunky statement pieces – IN

While 2024 focused on rectangular paper clip motifs, 2025 will showcase circular forms. This trend is evident in various pieces, including earrings that sway gently in the light, bold necklaces that fluidly drape around the neck, and bracelets and rings that feature soft, rounded shapes.

Silver jewellery – IN

Silver jewellery continues to be a popular choice this year, celebrated for its versatility and understated elegance. Its sleek, cool-toned finish makes it a perfect accessory for casual outings and formal events, allowing for effortless transitions.

Colourful gemstones – IN

The jewellery scene is experiencing a vibrant resurgence of bold and colourful gemstones. Striking stones such as luminous quartz, rich black onyx, and fiery red agate dominate designs, providing a refreshing alternative to traditional pearls.

Conscious sustainability – IN

Eco-friendly materials, ethical sourcing, and responsible production practices are now essential elements of contemporary jewellery. The focus now lies on utilising ethical gold, recycled metals, and lab-grown diamonds, ensuring that aesthetics do not come at the planet’s expense.

Tip: Research a jeweller’s ethical and sustainable practices before purchasing to ensure their values align with yours. At Ajosepo, we exclusively utilise recycled materials, reducing the demand for new mining and minimising our ecological footprint.

A third commented: “Close enough.”

And it’s not just TikTok users loving them, as they have quickly racked up numerous five star reviews online, with an average rating of 4.8 out of five on the H&M website.

The black pair are now sold out online, so you’ll need to get your shoes on and race down to your local store fast if you want to find them.

Heimir Hallgrimsson dealt major injury blow as Ireland star OUT of Nations League relegation play-off against Bulgaria

SAMMIE SZMODICS is out of Ireland’s Nations League relegation play-off with Bulgaria after undergoing ankle surgery.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna confirmed that the striker would be out of action after it was decided he would get an operation.

The striker had an ankle injury in January but recently returned to action and featured as a late substitute against Manchester United ten days ago.

But he will now miss the next few weeks, which puts him out of the international double-header against Bulgaria on March 20 and 24 as Ireland look to retain their League B status.

McKenna said: “He’s going to be out for an extended period of time.

“He originally suffered the injury in a tackle in the Fulham game, then had a recurrence of it in the Coventry game, then he had a recurrence of it after the Manchester United game.

“I don’t know the exact timescale, but it’s going to be a good number of weeks and if we see him again this season it will be in the last couple of fixtures.”

His absence will be a blow for Ireland head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson who has started Smzodics in all six of his games in charge.

But Hallgrímsson will be boosted by the form of Troy Parrott with AZ Alkmaar and Evan Ferguson’s more regular action since moving to West Ham United on loan.

The Ireland gaffer will select his squad for the Bulgarian tests next Thursday, and it is understood that Shamrock Rovers’ Josh Honohan and Watford’s Rocco Vata are part of ‘longlist’.

Honohan, who was watched by assistant John O’Shea against Shelbourne last week, impressed during the Hoops’ Conference League run and would be an option at left back.

And former Celtic starlet Vata is being considered for the final squad after impressing this season following his move to the Championship

Vata, whose father Rudi played for Albania and Celtic, was a key man in Jim Crawford’s Ireland Under-21 squad in the last campaign.
