World Grand Prix snooker 2025: Schedule and results as Judd Trump into last 8 after Jack Lisowski pulls out

THE World Grand Prix is heading towards a thrilling finale!

Defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan was due to return from his snooker hiatus in Hong Kong, but Rocket’s comeback won’t be until the World Championship later this year.

Ronnie O'Sullivan playing snooker.
O’Sullivan defeated Judd Trump 10–7 in last year’s final

It will be the seventh tournament O’Sullivan has pulled out of (for medical reasons) since his first round defeat at the UK Championship to Barry Hawkins in November.

Some huge names are in action in Hong Kong, with World No1 Judd Trump and the likes of Shaun Murphy and John Higgins all eyeing glory.

SunSport has the guide on everything you need to know ahead of World Grand Prix snooker 2025.

What happened to Judd Trump and Shaun Murphy last time out and will Joe O’Connor play?

Joe O’Connor was the big-name conqueror in last week’s major snooker event, World Open, in China – defeating Trump and Murphy to reach the final.

Trump and Murphy suffered shock exits to O’Connor in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.

The Leicester-born cueist failed to go all the way in Yushan after John Higgins got the better of him in a thrilling final.

The Wizard of Wishaw ended a FOUR-YEAR wait for a ranking title with his brilliant win.

As for O’Connor, he will not play at this week’s World Grand Prix snooker event as he is ranked outside the top 32 from the one‑year ranking list at 40th in the world.

World Grand Prix snooker 2025 format

First-round action will begin on Tuesday, March 4 and will be played across two days

The following rounds will take place on the subsequent days, with the final on Sunday, March 9.

LIONEL Messi’s energy drinks have hit UK shelves but shoppers say it’s a “copycat”, “rubbish”, and “they can’t give it away”.

The global superstar announced the imminent release of his Mas+ hydration drink in June 2024.

Filled with electrolytes, vitamins and minerals, Mas+ is engineered to provide customers with positive hydration.

Today, a fan posted a picture of the bottles, in a local Spar store, to Facebook.

It sparked quite the reaction.

One person commented: “That will be like prime a load of rubbish they can’t give them away now.”

To which one person replied: “Hyped squash.”

Meanwhile another person said: “I see another prime where the price goes through the roof and idiots are willing to pay it.”

Followed by a third: “They are absolutely rotten.”

And then a fourth: “Load of rubbish just like Prime.”

Followed by a fifth: “For God’s sake, it’s just prime rebranded.”

The Más+ by Messi range comes in four different flavours: Limón Lime League, Miami Punch, Berry Copa Crush and Orange d’Or.

It’s hit the UK market for the first time as an exclusive listing across Spar stores.

Although it appears to be in some Spar’s already, it was set to become available in stores across England, Wales and Scotland from March 10 to March 31, Scottish Grocer reported.

The 500ml bottles are priced at £2.25 each.

Prime is also a sports drink, with similar brightly coloured packaging.

It was brought out by a company called Congo Brands, promoted by Logan Paul and KSI in 2022.

At the time of Mas+’s revealing, it didn’t take long for the similarity to come to the attention of Prime co-founder KSI, who responded with a blunt comment.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer wrote on X: “Looks familiar…”

KSI’s followers were quick to respond with similar comments.

According to the manufacturers, Prime contains 10% coconut water, electrolytes, B Vitamins and BCAAs.

It has zero sugar or caffeine and only around 20 calories per bottle.

The range comes in flavours Meta Moon, Ice Pop, Blue Raspberry, Tropical Punch. Lemon Lime, Grape, and Orange versions.

Britain signs fresh £30million deal to arm Ukraine with attack drones – as fears grow over US support drying up

BRITAIN has signed a fresh £30million deal to arm Ukraine with attack drones — as fears grow over US support drying up.

Defence Secretary John Healey made the agreement with Anglo-American firm Anduril.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves viewing a model of UK defense equipment for Ukraine.
Britain has signed a fresh £30million deal to arm Ukraine with attack drones

Its new Altius 600m and 700m drones are designed to hover over an area before striking targets which enter it.

It comes ahead of crunch talks between Mr Healey and US defence boss Pete Hegseth, where Washington’s move to curb intelligence-sharing with Ukraine will be high on the agenda.

Mr Healey, who visited Anduril’s Washington HQ on Wednesday, said: “We are determined to achieve a secure, lasting peace in Ukraine.

“This means putting Ukraine in the strongest possible position to prevent any return to Russian aggression.”

Britain has already sent over 10,000 drones to Ukraine’s forces, which have played a crucial role in taking out Russian troops and supply lines.

The deal is part of a wider push to ramp up Ukraine’s defences, including a £2.26 billion loan from frozen Russian assets and £1.6 billion worth of air defence missiles announced last week.

At the same time, Britain is backing Europe’s bid to reduce reliance on US drone tech.

Italian defence giant Leonardo has struck a deal with Turkish drone maker Baykar to develop next-generation unmanned aircraft.

British military sensor tech from Edinburgh and Luton are set to play a key role.

The first model, the Baykar Akinci drone, will be fitted with Leonardo’s radar and electronics, making it as deadly as a fighter jet.
