Major car brand’s much-loved model that’s been on the market since late ’90s will be discontinued as date revealed
A MAJOR car brand’s popular model is set to be axed from production after being loved for nearly 30 years.
Fans were devastated to here the classic Ford motor will be scrapped from their line up later this year.

The US manufacturer is waving goodbye to their beloved Focus in November, as reported by motor1.com.
The move was first announced in 2022, but Ford’s head of Europe Martin Sander doubled down on the decision this month.
He added: “In the long run, we are still deeply convinced that EVs will be the future and we will see a significant increase in volume.
“By the end of this year, we will have a full range of electric vehicles – both in the passenger vehicle sector but also in our commercial vehicle business line – and we are quite flexible to adapt to market demand. For the next couple of years, we have a broad choice.
“Basically, our customers have the power of choice to pick what they want.”
Mr Sander emphasised that the company doesn’t have “any plans to extend Focus production” at its plant in Saarlouis, Germany.
Ford’s European Communications Manager, Finn Thomasen, made the original shock announcement.
Fans still have time to place orders – but the window will close imminently.
It comes as the company hopes to transform the brand into the “Porsche of off-road” and “get out of the boring-car business and into the iconic-vehicle business“, according to CEO Jim Farley.
The Ford Focus was first rolled out in 1998, off the back of their Escort model.
It was one of the last hatchbacks with a manual gearbox.
However, Ford is now placing more efforts on their Mustangs and Broncos to boost profits.
This comes after Ford sales in Europe fell 17 per cent in 2024, the first full year without the Fiesta which was axed in July 2023.
And, the most recent stats aren’t looking too positive either, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).
That being said, it is not the end of the line for Ford’s storied range of smaller models.
Bosses have suggested that hatchback EV models are on the way after the launch of a four-strong range of SUVs in the coming years.
This comes as an iconic sports car brand also chopped a new model “due to low demand” – with future plans in doubt.
Maserati has officially axed the upcoming MC20 Folgore.
The iconic Italian sports car manufacturer, which has reportedly been facing concerns over its future due to poor sales, has confirmed that plans to release its electric supercar have been cancelled.
But, in more positive news, a beloved car brand has announced it will bring BACK an electric version of a legendary model.
The motor was discontinued 40 years ago but drivers are thrilled to hear a new model might be hitting the roads soon.
Peugeot suggested reviving the legendary 208 GTi, maintaining its retro feel and honouring its hatch heritage.
When asked about the potential launch, the French carmaker’s new CEO said he’s only a few days into the job but is keen to acknowledge the brand’s roots.
Top boss Alain Favey said: “As you can imagine, being 10 days in the job, this is one I’ve been asking myself very much.
“I’m very, very eager to connect the Peugeot brand and what it stands for to its past, to its heritage, in every sense.
“So we will look back at what the heritage of the brand is, and we will see to what extent this can be adapted to the modern world.
“And there is nothing excluded in our review of this, and certainly not the GTi badge for sure.”

Moment football player is smacked over his head by ‘wife after cheating on her’ causing chaos at Sunday league game
THIS is the shocking moment a footballer is smacked in the head by a fuming woman who claims he cheated on her.
The unfortunate footage shows how the local Sunday league game descended into chaos after the pitch-side attack.

A passionate football vlog from Newall Green caught the moment the man was savagely hit by a spectator who is said to be his wife.
The short clip from during the match shows a number of players from the opposition’s team waiting around on the sidelines.
Several are kicking around a ball as others are simply standing around talking.
One player, kitted out in all red, can be seen walking away with his head held low back towards the group of substitutions.
After a few steps a woman in all black tracksuit makes a quick and ferocious dash up behind him.
As she approaches, the man turns his head before appearing to be hit by a water bottle held by the woman.
Sprays are seen flying across the grass as the man simply continues to walk as he ignores the now mad spectator.
Just a second later, the woman makes another beeline for the footballer and manages to smack him on the back of the head.
He falls to his knees on the pitch a few moments later still holding his head in pain.
At one point he even looks as if he is checking for blood.
The man walks away with his head down as he rubs the spot where he was whacked.
After almost 15 seconds of being left in agony, his teammates finally come over and check up on their wounded ally.
The camera then cuts to another teammate speaking to the woman.
The bizarre altercation was noticed by almost everyone at the game being played in the Cheshire & Manchester Sunday League.
One of the Newall Green players can be seen coming over to the team’s cameraman and explaining the backstory behind the ferocious hit.
He claimed: “One of their teams cheated on his Mrs.
“His Mrs has just come and cracked him on the pitch.”
Newall Green even labelled the moment as “the best Sunday league moment in history” as they shared the clip on social media.
One video of the pitch-side strike has already amassed over a million views on X.
It comes just weeks after a player in the Turkish top division was sent off for slapping his own teammate.
Kayserispor’s Stephane Bahoken was shown a red card just 23 minutes into his side’s clash against fellow Super Lig side Sivasspor.
It’s not the first time that teammates have had a barney in the middle of the pitch.
Famously Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer got physical back in 2005 when on the books at Newcastle.
Both players were sent off that day with the fight spilling over into the changing room after their dismissals.
Arsenal duo Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko also both lost their cool last season against Nottingham Forest.

Moment human cannonball stuntman is seriously injured at fair after bouncing off safety net and slamming into the ground
THIS is the terrifying moment a human cannonball is seriously injured after bouncing off the safety net and slamming into the ground.
Chachi Valencia, known as the Rocketman, crashed down to earth in front of crowds at the Riverside Country Fair in Indio, California.

One onlooker captured the moment the stunt went horribly wrong.
Footage shows Chachi – who performed at the London Olympics closing ceremony – shoot from the barrel of an giant cannon, clad in a red and yellow jumpsuit.
His daring flight sees him loop high above the concrete square which is filled with food vans and fairground rides.
The stuntman twists midair onto his back as he nears the awaiting landing net.
But this is where it all goes wrong.
Instead of landing in the centre of the net, Chachi crashes into the far corner – almost missing it altogether.
The elastic net boings him back into the air and sends him spinning off the side.
Screams of horror ring out as the man rag-dolls towards the ground.
The Rocketman smacks into the solid concrete and crumples in pain.
Concerned crew workers rush to the side of the injured stuntman, who is not moving.
Several of Chachi’s ribs were shattered by the incident, his wrist was broken, his liver lacerated – and he needs knee surgery.
After the terrifying cannonballs-up, Chachi told KESQ that a sudden gust of wind had pushed him off the right flight path.
He said: “I knew I was going to land off to one side. After that, I really don’t remember anything.”
“The next thing I remember, I was in the ambulance and the medic was asking me questions.”

Chachi was only fifteen minutes into his routine when the accident happened.
A GoFundMe page set up to help pay his medical bills said the “road to recovery will be long”.
Donors have already contributed over $10,000 to fund his treatment, which may include surgery within the next week.
The plea says: “We’re asking for your support to help Chachi cover his medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and lost income during his recovery.
“Every contribution, including your thoughts and prayers and sharing this link will make a real difference in his life and help him get back on his feet – and get him back flying through the air!”
