Rangers heroes donate thousands to fundraiser after Scots fan dies in horror Turkey crash

RANGERS heroes have donated thousands of pounds to a fundraiser for a fan who tragically died in a car crash in Turkey.

He was among the scores of Gers fans who travelled to watch the team’s clash with Fenerbache, which finished with a 3-1 victory for the Light Blues.

The beloved dad and husband was rushed to hospital after the accident where he sadly passed away.

Scores of tributes have been paid to the lifelong Rangers fan, who was described as “one of life’s good guys”.

Players from both teams took to the pitch wearing black armbands as a show of respect for the fallen supporter.

Pals set up a fundraiser to support his wife and children after his death, as well as going towards funeral costs and bringing his body back home.

The gofundme page has already raised over £87,000 as fellow fans and supporters groups rallied together to support him.

Among those who gave over cash were some big names from the club.

We told how former Scotland star Robert Snodgrass donated £1,000 to the tragic fan’s family after his death.

And other big names have followed suit.

Light Blues captain James Tavernier gave £500 to the gofundme page.

Rangers goalie Jack Butland also donated £500 to the fundraiser.

Harry Souttar, the brother of ex-Rangers star John Souttar, gave £250.

Scots comedian and Rangers fan Gary Faulds also handed over £250.

Ex-Scotland star James McArthur donated £500.

One of the biggest donations came from millionaire businessman Andy Smillie.

'One of the nicest guys you will ever meet'

SCORES of tributes were made to Christopher after his death in the tragic crash.

One well-wisher wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking, rest easy uncle.”

Another added: “Christopher was one of life’s good guys who will be sadly missed by all.”

A third commented: “Honestly one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, you’ll be sadly missed by so many.”

The Gers fan and charity chairman selflessly donated £10,000 to the fundraiser for Christopher.

Rangers told how the club were devastated by the news of Christopher’s death and offered their condolences to his family.

A club spokesman said: “We are devastated to have learned of the passing of one of our supporters in a road traffic accident overnight in Istanbul.

“The immediate thoughts of everyone at the club are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are remaining in constant contact with both the Turkish and British authorities over this tragic incident.”

Their Europa League rivals Fenerbahce also paid tribute saying: “We extend our deepest condolences to Rangers FC and the entire Rangers community.

We are deeply saddened to receive the heartbreaking news that a Rangers FC supporter, who traveled to Istanbul to support his team in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 against our club Fenerbahce, has tragically lost his life in a traffic accident.

Our heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to his family, Rangers FC, and their community.”

Meghan Markle has revealed who Archie & Lilibet call ‘uncle’ – and it’s not Prince William

MEGHAN Markle is known for keeping details about her children’s lives pretty private.

But the Duchess of Sussex, 43, has opened up about who son Archie, five, and daughter Lilibet, three, call ‘uncle.’

Her new Netflix show, titled With Love, Meghan, gives viewers a look inside her home and family life, alongside some of her famous pals.

The first episode of the show included Meghan’s friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin, and it turns out he also shares a close bond with Archie and Lilibet.

“He has just been in my life for the before, during, and after, shall we say, and he’s very much a mainstay,” Meghan said in the episode.

She continued: “Uncle Daniel, the kids call him.

“They know Daniel very well, and I love him to pieces.”

During the episode, the pair dote over their close relationship, but Meghan notably was shocked to discover Daniel is left-handed.

There were other curious cues their friendship might not be as close as they want viewers to believe too, like the fact Meghan had to ask if he liked tomatoes.

She also labelled the peanut butter pretzel snack she made for him as she wasn’t sure if he was allergic.

Notably, Harry and Meghan’s children also have an uncle in Prince William, but the two families have had a strained relationship over the past few years.

Their bond only worsened after the Sussexes made a number of accusations against the Royal Family in their Netflix docuseries.

And it is thought the brothers’ frosty relationship was made worse after the publication of Spare, in which Harry suggested Kate was cold towards Meghan.

During the episode, Meghan and Daniel were all smiles as they whipped up some tasty dishes together, including a pasta dish and a sumptuous cake topped with raspberries.

As well as dishing up grub, the duo also got crafty and make beeswax candles, using the wax from Meghan’s own hive.

But the makeup artist wasn’t the only one of Meghan’s close pals to make an appearance on the show – actress Mindy Kaling also starred in one episode and caused a stir when she didn’t use Meghan’s married name.

“It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now,” Meghan said to Mindy after the US Office star referred to her as ‘Meghan Markle‘.

The California-based pair have also attracted criticism for only visiting Sussex once when they held several engagements seven years ago.

But speaking to People magazine in the US, Meghan now claims the title is important to her.

she said: “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children.

“I love that that is something that ArchieLili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”

The Sussex name, she adds, “is part of our love story”.

Meghan and Harry are also the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton but rarely use the title and are not expected to pass it onto Archie.

They are banned as part of the Megxit agreement from using their “Sussex Royal” brand although the website remains.

And last year they set up ‘The Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ with Meghan’s coat of arms.

Prince William and Harry’s relationship has been strained over recent years[/caption]

A timeline of Prince Harry's family feud

The first hints of friction reportedly came after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she’d returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a brother-to-brother chat.

He knew Harry was already head-over-heels for her but it has been claimed he advised him to take it slowly.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take too kindly to the advice, with one royal source saying he “went mental”.

Then in June 2019 Harry and Meghan officially split off from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be divided between the Sussexes and Cambridges as the couples focus on their own separate charitable endeavours.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009 before Kate joined two years later shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio would often appear together at events and the Foundation had huge successes with projects like the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the mental health Heads Together campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made following the conclusion of a review into its structure – but added both couples will continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg were living in close proximity to Kate and Wills within the Kensington Palace estate, but they switched to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further increased rumours of a fallout.

Harry also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan give their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially.

Harry then jetted back to UK to join William in unveiling a statue to their mother Princess Diana in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources claimed William didn’t want to attend the memorial amid their ongoing rift.

In 2022, just before their grandmother the Queen died, sources claimed Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the brothers.

Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the floor” during an argument about Meghan, in his memoir.

In Spare, Harry said William branded Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a row.

Harry alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back following the argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew in to be with Charles after the monarch’s shock cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the following day – without seeing Wills.

In May he visited the UK for a three-day visit without seeing King Charles or Prince William.

MAFS Australia fans turn on ‘vile’ Tim and brand him ‘worst groom ever’ after his cruel comments to bride Katie

MAFS AUSTRALIA’S “most hated groom” has received more backlash from fans, following his cruel comments to his bride.

Viewers have been left fuming after watching primary school teacher Tim Groomie, 37, brutally reject his bride Katie Johnstone, 37, on the show.

At the beginning of the week, fans watched in horror as Tim raged at producers that Katie “wasn’t his type”, just seconds after they were married.

Ever since then, he has refused to give his bride the time of day.

Viewers have watched awkwardly as he practically ignored her, the whole time the were on their honeymoon.

But things came to an emotional head last night, when Tim cruelly told Katie that it was her physical appearance that he wasn’t attracted to.

He also didn’t try to comfort her, when she was clearly distressed by the outcome of the conversation.

Speaking to the camera in floods of tears, the poor bride said: “It’s so unfair, I’m trying to get to know him but it’s so obvious that he’s not into me because of my physical side.

Continuing to weep, she said: “There’s no lust, there’s no spark, I’ve put it all together, I’m not an idiot.

“Like why come here, if you’re not going to be open.”

Wiping away tears, Katie added: “This sucks. Like after so many years, what is there?

“Rejection, after rejection, the common denominator is me.

“I’ve tried everything else and now this isn’t working either.”

Fans found this very hard to watch and had full sympathy for Katie, but were NOT happy with Tim.

Venting on social media, one said: “I really don’t like seeing Tim on my screen ughh, he said he’s ’enjoying’ getting to know her but hasn’t made any effort towards getting to know Katie, he’s so set on the attraction but darling have you looked in the mirror yourself??”

This one added: “Tim is vile.”

Another person said: ” Don’t waste your time Katie!”

FAKE NAME

But if this wasn’t enough, it’s now emerged that groom Tim – who has deleted all of his social media following fan backlash – was using a “fake name” on the show.

An eagle-eyed fan decided to do some digging into Tim’s life, and has now revealed his true identity.

“I just did a deep dive on Tim on MAFS and there is something really weird going on. Before the show began Channel Nine put up contestant bios for everyone featured,’ the vlogger said on TikTok.

“Tim was there, but he was listed as Tim Andrews. Nine updated the bios and we can see the difference in the lingering Google data.

“He is now referred to as Tim Gromie and the media is referring to him as that which is a little odd, right?’

The TikToker added that Tim’s career in teaching would mean he would be registered on the Victorian Teachers Registry.

But when they looked, there was not a Tim Gromie listed, but a Timothy Andrews was.

“He must be registered, but I looked it up and no Tim Gromie appears. But when I put in Timothy Andrews someone does appear! Weird, right? It’s all just a bit off, like what is this guy trying to hide?’ she added.

It’s now emerged that Tim chose to use an alias on the show to “protect his teaching job”.

“He was really concerned about how being on the show would affect his career,” a source told Daily Mail Australia.

“He was already warned that being linked to MAFS could make it hard for him to get hired again, so he pushed for a name change to keep some distance between his TV persona and real-life profession.”

The outlet also confirmed that Gromie is one of Tim’s middle names.

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam’s Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out – and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

“While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna’s vegan lifestyle, the show’s first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: “We’re not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship.”

I saved £20k by renovating my home with YouTube videos & Facebook buys – everyone can’t believe how good it looks

A SAVVY homeowner renovated her new home’s kitchen, bathroom and staircase on her own using YouTube tutorials and saved over £20k.

Rachel James, 29, bought the two-bedroom house in Plymouth, Devon, just over two years ago.

Rachel knew the house needed work when she bought it – the bath was detached from the wall and was leaking into the kitchen.

She got to work as soon as she moved in and was quoted between £9k to £12k to renovate her bathroom.

The quotes Rachel received were above what she could afford so she decided to do the renovations on her own.

Rachel bought a sink off Facebook marketplace for £30 and fitted it herself after watching YouTube tutorials.

She bought a shower and a toilet, which she partly fitted herself with the help of a contractor for £500.

In total, Rachel’s bathroom makeover came to £2k – saving roughly £10k.

After the bathroom, Rachel turned to the the kitchen.

She bought and installed new countertops and cupboard doors with her dad’s help and installed the kitchen sink by herself.

In total, Rachel spent approximately £2.5k, which included a brand new washing machine.

Rachel, a personal assistant and beauty business owner from Plymouth, Devon said: “If you’re willing to give it a go, DIY is totally worth it.

“It’s fun, it’s rewarding and in my case, it means I can now afford a holiday.”

When Rachel moved into her new home, she had £2k saved for the upcoming renovations.

She began getting quotes for the work needed but it quickly became apparent that she wouldn’t be able to hire builders.

Rachel said: “I was originally quoted anywhere between £9k to £12k for the work needing done to my bathroom.

“It’s only a small bathroom at six feet by six feet, so I just didn’t have the budget to spend that much on such a small space.”

Rachel thinks she was able to save at least £10k on her kitchen’s renovation thanks to the help of her father who used to fit kitchens on yachts.

Rachel said: “I didn’t get a quote for this kitchen but the kitchen in my last home cost me £13k which was a similar size to this one.

“My dad was a real help for the kitchen.

“We bought new countertops and cupboard doors and replaced them.

“So we were able to keep the units as they were but take out the old elements I didn’t like.”

Rachel also tiled and fitted the kitchen sink on her own.

Rachel left the staircase until last and also managed to save £530 by doing it herself.

She bought all the materials under £170 and managed to transform her stairs in just eight hours.

Rachel aid: “I was getting quotes for everything in the house when I first moved in and I left the stairs until last.

“The builders quoted me £700 – £350 for the material and £350 for labour.

“I didn’t have £700 so I thought, why not try it myself?”

After watching YouTube tutorials and sourcing materials from a local timber yard, she and her dad tackled the tricky angles on the bottom half together.

Rachel then completed the top half on her own, finishing the entire project within eight hours.

She said: “My dad had never done a staircase before, but we worked it out together.

“The bottom half took us about four or five hours, then I did the top half alone in three hours.

“The hardest part was working out the angles, but honestly everything else was so easy.

“I saved all the labour costs, and if anything had gone wrong, I’d have called a professional but I didn’t need to.”

Floyd Mayweather on course to lose unbeaten record to unknown 42-0 boxer who feared he would die in horror kidnapping

ROAD WARRIOR Abel Mendoza has been been building a record that matches the great Floyd Mayweather – but it almost cost him his life.

Mendoza’s undefeated 42-0 record has been flying under the radar thanks to bouts in Mexico, South America, Jamaica and even South Korea.

His career has been going under the radar[/caption]

But it was after his last win in December – a win over Yonnaiquer Rondon in Colombia – that he was left staring death in the face.

Mendoza was kidnapped in the back of a taxi alongside his friend and faced a fight to survive.

Recalling the harrowing experience, he told SunSport: “I thought we were gonna die.

“I thought they were gonna take us, hold us for ransom. At that moment I thought, man, I was disappointed.

“And in that moment I thought to myself – that’s when it just kind of hit me like – no I can’t die like this. I’m not gonna die.”

Before turning professional in 2016 in Texas, Mendoza says he had close to 300 amateur bouts.

He even beat Lamont Roach – who most believed was robbed of victory against superstar lightweight champion Gervonta Tank Davis.

Mendoza said: “I thought he beat Tank and I knew Lamont was gonna be a a hard fight for Tank, but a lot of people didn’t believe it.”

The 29-year-old is managed by brothers Scott and David Tetreault – who have taken his boxing career around the globe.

But still Mendoza is without his big break, despite a shiny record to put up in the ring.

He said: “I haven’t been working with anybody or no other fighters wants to take a chance. They see my record, maybe they’re intimidated.

“But I would have thought it would be the other way like, ‘Oh, he’s 42-0 like. Let me take his unbeaten record. But it’s not like that.”

Mendoza took his career on the road in a bid to build his record, fighting largely in Mexico and up to EIGHT times a year.

But six of his last eight have been in Colombia – with the most recent sparking his horror kidnapping ordeal.

Mendoza claims he hailed down a cab after his Uber app stopped working – before a group of thugs robbed the boxer and his friend.

He said: “Two guys get into the back and one of them had a screwdriver, the other one had a knife.

“The driver, he turns around, he’s like, ‘Shut up, shut up, don’t talk. And I’m just in shock.

“I’m just there like in shock, just couldn’t believe it, you know, like, ‘Oh man.’

“And then they keep driving.I kept telling him like, ‘Hey man, let me go. You can take all my things here.’

“They just kept telling me to shut up. They hit me, I gave him my phone, gave him everything and all the money that I had.”

Mendoza spotted an ambulance – first mistaking it for a police car – when he decided to fight his way out.

He says: “I look at my friend and I’m like, ‘Right now’ because they don’t know English.

“So I like, ‘Hey right now.’ And my friend’s like, ‘All right.’ So I punched the guy and I opened the door.

“My friend kicks the seat and he grabs the guy because you could tell they weren’t fighters and I opened the door and jumped out and my friend did the same thing.

“He grabbed him and he took the knife and he jumped out too, and we ran to a gas station.”

Despite the terrifying ordeal, Mendoza is still not put off boxing away from home.

He said: “I’m not afraid. I’ve been to Korea, I’ve been to Mexico a lot, even in New Mexico. I probably won’t go back to Colombia.

“I mean, I’ll go anywhere, it’s what I’ve always done.”

No I can’t die like this. I’m not gonna die

Abel Mendoza

Mendoza improved to 42 wins before the kidnap attempt – moving ever closer to Mayweather’s record-breaking 50-0.

But Mendoza insists: “The goal has always been trying to win belts.

“I wanna become a world champion and I really don’t care about getting to 50-0. I have a lot of fights because I like to fight.

“I love to fight. I have a lot of fights, I would rather take a fight than stay inactive and that’s why I have a lot of fights.

“The goal is not to get to 50-0, the goal is to become a world champion.

“If I get to 50-0 while that happens, it happens but I’m just trying to become a world champion.”

Mendoza thought his big break was coming in February when Floyd Schofield pulled out of fighting WBC champ Shakur Stevenson.

The Texan was ready to fly 8,000 miles to Riyadh to replace Schofield – but Britain’s Josh Padley was just a seven hour flight away.

Padley was beaten in nine brave rounds as Mendoza said: “My team reached out to them and they were trying to make it happen.

“But I guess somebody from the UK was closer so they found him and he was there. It happens.”

Mendoza has also called out 11-1 YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul – despite their FIVE STONE weight difference.

But he said: “I just put it out there that I’d fight Jake. I actually think Jake’s a decent fighter, so that was one of the reasons why I put that out there.

“I don’t know if he’s at the elite level. I think that’s where we’re all waiting for to see if if he’s at the elite level.

“But from what it looks, from what it seems, it looks like he is pretty decent.”

Mendoza is now just waiting for his big opportunity – warning boxing bigwigs he is open for business.

He said: “I’m ready to fight, I wanna fight the best so I can prove myself that I am the best. I’m a free agent, so that’s a good thing.

“I’m able to work with whoever right now and there are a few promoters interested.

“But I’m just trying to be patient and just waiting to see what happens.”

Watch terrifying moment pilot & hero passenger wrestle teen armed with SHOTGUN and knives as he ‘tried to storm plane’

THIS is the terrifying moment a pilot and passenger wrestled a suspected plane hijacker to the ground – after he tried to storm the plane armed with a shotgun and knives.

The 17-year-old boarded the plane “dressed as a worker” and told airline crew he was there to do “maintenance work”.

The footage shows the teen wearing a fluorescent jacket – similar in colour to those worn by airport ground staff – being wrestled to the ground by a passenger and a pilot.

Hero passenger, Barry Clark, is seen with his hand around the teen’s neck, as the pilot holds his arm and empties his tool belt.

What appears to be the butt of a shotgun is then seen being kicked away from the teen on the floor.

Panicked passengers can be heard throughout the footage, with one asking “How is this possible?”.

Clark said: “Before we knew it, there was a gun – a shotgun appeared – and I was worried about there being shots,”

“All I could do was get the gun out of the way. And then put him in a hold and throw him to the ground until the police came.”

When asked what was going through his mind while facing danger, the shearer from Victoria said: “You don’t think, you act”.

He added: “I’ve been taught from a boy to be responsible and look after others and we’re a sporting family, so I was quietly confident I could handle him… you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”

Clark was praised by fellow passengers and airport staff for his heroic act.

Passenger, Daniel Defino, said: “Barry and the pilot saved us, 100 per cent.”

Airport chief, Ari Suss, said: “I told Barry he changed the course of history with what he did.”

Clark was offered “free flights for life” on account of his bravery.

The Jetstar plane was due to fly from Avalon Airport in Melbourne to Sydney when the teen stormed the plane.

Victoria’s police superintendent, Michael Reid, told reporters the teen entered the airport through a hole in the security fence.

From there he then mounted or climbed the front stairs to the front of the plane.

Passengers said the boy became agitated after boarding the plane after being asked for a boarding pass or identification by a flight attendant.

Reid said: “No doubt this would have been a very terrifying incident for the passengers.

“Victoria Police really commend the bravery of those passengers who were able to overpower that male.”

The teen was arrested and has been charged with eight offences.

These include unlawfully taking control of an aircraft, carrying out a bomb hoax and possessing a firearm.

A man was arrested on a flight form El Bajío to Tijuana after storming the cockpit and trying to open the door in December.

Shocking footage showed passengers fighting for their lives as they desperately dragged the man, thought to be called Kel Mario N, 31, to the ground.

‘Some have been bad’ – Luke Littler hits out at darts fans after Nathan Aspinall has PINT thrown at him

DARTS star Nathan Aspinall had a PINT thrown at him before his Premier League defeat to Luke Littler last night.

The 18-year-old star won Premier League night five in Brighton, beating the Asp 6-3 in the final.

But the match was marred by a shocking scenes during Aspinall’s much-loved walk-on to Mr Brightside by The Killers.

A pint of beer was allegedly launched at him by a rowdy fan as the player made his way to the oche.

The incident was not picked up by Sky Sports cameras, but an unhappy-looking Aspinall was seen having a conversation with referee Huw Ware before the game started.

Post-match, Littler revealed: “I think there was a pint thrown at Nathan as soon as he came up on the stage. Crazy.”

Aspinall also paused during his semi-final victory to give a supporter a death stare but it remains unclear what this was about.

This comes just three weeks after the PDC were forced to issue a statement after another incident in a Premier League final involving Littler.

The Nuke’s match against Luke Humphries in Glasgow was impacted by persistent whistling that distracted the players.

Asked about the crowds’ antics, Littler said last night: “I think we all know some have been good, some have been a bit bad.

“But that is the darts fans for you, they are either good or they are either bad.”

Premier League chiefs have vowed to stamp out “inappropriate” behaviour by kicking fans out arenas.

They said in a statement after night two in Glasgow: “The PDC wishes to strongly reiterate that it does not condone any behaviour which can disrupt an event, such as whistling or booing when players are throwing.

“As per the terms and conditions of entry to events, spectators who act inappropriately can be removed from the venue.

“The PDC works closely with Premier League venues, who have responsibility for crowd control, to take proactive and decisive action against those who behave inappropriately.

“The vast majority of fans who attend our sell-out events on a regular basis also condemn this behaviour and we will continue to promote a positive atmosphere which gives all players the opportunity to play to the best of their ability in every match.”

Simon Easterby hails Peter O’Mahony as ‘best teammate you could want’ ahead of Ireland legend’s Aviva Stadium farewell

SIMON EASTERBY says that giving Peter O’Mahony an Aviva farewell was one of his easiest decisions ever.

O’Mahony, 35, will play his final home game for Ireland in Dublin tomorrow against France.

Cian Healy, 37, and Conor Murray, 35, will say their goodbyes off the bench — but flanker O’Mahony will start after he impressed against Wales.

Interim boss Easterby says it was a no-brainer to select the veteran for what is seen by many as the Six Nations decider.

He said: “It’s an easy decision to pick Pete again this week off the back of an 80-minute performance in Cardiff.

“He didn’t just start the game well, he finished it strongly as well. He tackled everything that moved. He carries well, he made a positional change in that game as well.

“There were lots of factors why Pete gets picked, not just because of his stature and presence in the group but also how he makes other people feel.

“He’s been the best team-mate that anyone could have out of anyone in the squad because all his focus has been making the guys who are starting or who are on the bench, or himself if he’s in that position, play the best that they can play.

“And he gives others confidence whether he’s involved in that 23 or whether he’s outside it.”
