Chilling moment stalker kicks colleague’s door armed with condoms after threatening to rape her when she rejected him
THIS is the chilling moment a stalker armed with condoms hammered at a colleague’s door after threatening to rape her when she rejected him.
Karl Chads launched a twisted campaign against Grace Smith despite the pair meeting just three times.
Grace was left terrified by his campaign of harassment[/caption]The 42-year-old bombarded her with abusive messages and broke into her London home.
He also told her boyfriend Daryl: “I’m a gangster, I’ll rape her in front of you and blow your head off.”
Eerie footage shows Chads showing up at Grace’s home in the dead of night and smashing his fist against the front door.
The stalker, who had seven condoms stuffed in his trousers, eventually broke in through a bathroom window and stole her teenage journal.
Bid writer Grace has now spoken out after Chads was jailed for 13 years for stalking with fear of violence.
The judge branded him “dangerous” as he was also sentenced for burglary, criminal damage and trespassing with the intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.
Grace, 31, said: “During Karl’s campaign of harassment I felt unsafe and feared for my life. Terrified he’d kidnap and rape me.
“Knowing he’s now behind bars gives me some comfort. Thankfully he’s finally off the streets, unable to harm anyone else.”
The pair first met in October 2022 when Chads joined her workplace but only occasionally spoke on Microsoft Teams meetings.
Grace thought he was a “bit of an oddball” and even joked to a pal he was “probably a serial killer” due to his strange demeanour.
In May 2023, the co-workers attended a meeting in Birmingham and later made small talk on the train back to London.
The pair next met again two months later at a team building team, where Grace noticed Chads staring at her.
But they did not come face-to-face again until October last year when their team were awarded afternoon tea at The Ritz.
Grace said: “While there, the topic of dating apps came up.
“I explained to colleagues that’s was how I met my boyfriend, Daryl.
“I noticed Karl’s face drop. He seemed disappointed.”
Chads sent insulting messages to Grace[/caption] He also broke into her home during the nightmare ordeal[/caption] One of the gifts Chads sent Grace[/caption]Grace later handed her colleague her phone number, only for Chads to reveal he had feelings for her.
She said she told him she was flattered but in a relationship, which led to a “barrage of insults” from Chads.
The spurned stalker branded her a “below-stairs type” and accused Grace of leading him on.
Chads then ramped up his abuse campaign and even posted a private chat between the pair on a shared work platform.
Grace flagged it to her manager but Chads continued to bombard her with calls and texts – leading the writer to call police.
She said: “They told me they could charge him with malicious communications if he failed to cease contact. And that was that.”
During a trip to Prague to attend her cousin’s wedding, Chads made a defamatory post on LinkedIn trying to sabotage her job.
Terrified, Grace’s boyfriend moved in and the couple reported all of Chads’ messages to the police but no action was taken.
Obsessed Chads eventually resigned from the workplace but continued to harass Grace – even sending her a parcel at her home containing a Alexander McQueen purse and a creepy note.
This read: “I thought we had the potential to develop into a friendship and relationship one day.”
Grace and boyfriend Daryl practised jiu jitsu moves to learn how to defend themselves[/caption] Chads delivered creepy handwritten notes[/caption]Aware that Chads now had her address, Grace and boyfriend Daryl practised jiu jitsu moves to learn how to defend themselves.
They also installed a doorbell camera, which captured the stalker prowling around outside before breaking in.
Grace said: “I arrived home to smashed up pipes, broken windows. My clothes were ripped up and strewn across the garden.”
Chads was arrested at the scene with two glasses and a bottle of wine in his backpack and the condoms in his pocket.
As well as a jail sentence, he was also handed an indefinite restraining order banning contact with Grace.
She said: “At his sentencing, I faced him down, bravely read my impact statement and took back control.
“Now I want to encourage other survivors of stalking to collate evidence, keep records. Listen to your gut.
“In the end, I was forced to take charge and fight for justice. And I won.”

LUTON TOWN have axed manager Rob Edwards amid the threat of back-to-back relegations.
Edwards, 42, led the Hatters to the Premier League during his first season in charge.
Rob Edwards has been sacked by Championship strugglers Luton Town[/caption]They dropped back to the Championship this term despite a brave battle.
But Luton have been unable to build on their recent success and are now at risk of ending up back in League One.
Confirming the manager’s departure, a statement read: “Luton Town Football Club can confirm that Rob Edwards has left his role as manager by mutual agreement.”
It continued: “We could have not wished for a better man to understand what it takes to be manager of Luton Town, one who acted as an ambassador for the club and community in the glare of the world’s media spotlight.
“We enjoyed the highs of Goodison Park and that maiden Premier League win, the demolition of Brighton under the Kenilworth Road lights and the part the Town played in the 4-4 classic at Newcastle after also taking a point, and so very nearly all three, off Liverpool as the battle against relegation went right to the final day.
“The current campaign back in the Championship has clearly not progressed as anticipated, and after holding amicable talks following Monday’s defeat at QPR, the board and Rob have agreed to part with immediate effect.
“While the process to appoint a new manager is already underway, Paul Trollope and Richie Kyle, aided by Mick Harford, will take charge of the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie at Nottingham Forest.”
Edwards has won just seven of his 26 matches in the current campaign, leaving the Hatters 20th in the table and just two points above the drop zone.

Monday’s 2-1 defeat at QPR was their fourth loss on the bounce.
And Luton have now parted ways with Edwards just 26 months after bringing him to Kenilworth Road.
The Hatters will now look to make an appointment ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Premier League flyers Nottingham Forest.
Speaking after Luton’s defeat to QPR this week, Edwards admitted he was feeling the pressure in the dugout.
He said: “Every week on the road we seem to be getting hit and hit and hit.
“Things have gone against us recently.
“It just seems the footballing gods are against us.
“But results are not good enough.
“The players are giving everything but we are in a results business.”
Reflecting on Edwards’ time at the club, Luton CEO Gary Sweet said: “As with all decisions to part company with a manager, this has been a tough decision to arrive at, together with Rob, who has conducted himself with great professionalism and dignity throughout his two years at the Club, and again this week as we have genuinely come to a mutual conclusion.
“Rob has given us some of our greatest days to celebrate as Hatters. Those two barnstorming derby victories at Kenilworth Road, the play-off final at Wembley and our season in the Premier League will live with us forever and in doing so Rob has earned himself a legendary status.
“Results this season, especially away from home, have clearly not been acceptable and while we have supported Rob and his team in every possible way, we all felt that action was required to rectify this with 20 league matches still to play.
“It is typical of Rob’s humility that he also recognised this himself and leaves not just as a former manager, but as a trusted friend who has left his mark on every player and member of staff.
“Rob and his family will always be welcome visitors to Kenilworth Road. The door is always open. On behalf of the board, I would like to give him our heartfelt thanks for two years of tireless work and so many memories, wishing him every success for his future career.”
