Liam Payne’s pal Roger Nores to fly to UK to ‘pay respects’ after being CLEARED over tragedy…as email to family revealed

LIAM Payne’s friend Roger Nores is due to fly to the UK to pay his respects to the 1D star.

Rogelio “Roger” Nores revealed his plan after the manslaughter charges against him and two hotel workers were dropped.

The businessman and two staff members at the hotel in Buenos Aires were charged over the One Direction star’s death from a hotel balcony on October 16 last year.

But Nores alongside Esteban Grassi, the chief receptionist at CasaSur Palermo Hotel and head of security Gilda Martin were cleared by appeal court judges on Thursday.

Speaking after the ruling Nores told: Rolling Stone: “Glad this is finally over.

I’m happy I’m now going to be able to travel to the UK and say goodbye to my friend.”

The judges ruled that Nores did not play a role in Payne “obtaining and consuming alcohol,” nor could have done anything to prevent his death.

They also referred to an email Nores had sent to Liam’s family dated August 23, expressing his concern about his friend.

The ruling reads: “Despite accusing Nores of failing to communicate and raise alarms with the victim’s family, they remained silent about the email through which the accused had expressed his concerns and warned that he would not be able to look after Payne’s health.”

Meanwhile, the pair accused of selling Liam cocaine before his fall will remain in prison after being told they still face prosecution and probable trial.

Waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz, 24, and 21-year-old suspended hotel worker Ezequiel David Pereyra, lost their attempts to overturn the decision.

They have been warned they could face prison sentences of between four and 15 years if convicted.

Prosecutors can appeal the higher court decision on Mr Nores and the two hotel workers but they have not yet indicated if they will do so.

Nores’ lawyer Rafael Cuneo Libarona, the brother of Argentina’s Justice Minister, had fought to get the US businessman off his manslaughter rap.

He rebutted claims from the prosecution that he was Liam’s representative and had failed in his duty of care towards him.

Mr Cuneo Libarona said after news of the appeal ruling emerged: “We are happy to have reversed the decision by 360 degrees.

“We have always maintained that Rogelio Nores was not responsible for Liam Payne’s death.

“He was only his friend and had no duty or legal obligation to ensure his safety.”

Mr Nores protested his innocence and refuted claims he was Liam’s ‘de facto’ manager.

He previously said: “I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened.

“There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left.

“I could have never imagined something like this would happen.

“I’ve given my statement to the prosecutor on October 17 as a witness and I haven’t spoken to any police officer or prosecutor ever since.

“I wasn’t Liam’s manager. He was just my very dear friend.”

Tragic star Liam plunged to his death from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16.

His chaotic finals hours before he fell to his death were revealed in new court documents.

A forensic examination of Liam’s final hours found he hired two women online, Aldana Serrano, 31, and Lucila Goitea, 27, and invited them to his room.

The women arrived at 11.30am on October 16 to find Liam taking drugs from aluminium foil, docs claimed.

The three of them later had sex, it is understood, before Liam broke the hotel room TV and told the women to leave at around 4pm.

‘He’s an animal’ – Phil Jones names Man Utd wonderkid, 17, Ruben Amorim must turn to NOW to ease woes

PHIL JONES has singled out one academy gem at Manchester United to lead the team into a new era alongside the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo.

Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim was forced to turn to the kids for the Red Devils’ 1-0 defeat to Tottenham last weekend, naming EIGHT teenagers on the bench for the clash.

Jones reckons Ruben Amorim has plenty of talent in his youth ranks[/caption]

And although the academy kids’ day out was due to an injury crisis, former star Jones reckons that the bench is a sign of a promising future coming through the ranks at Carrington.

Jones, who has been working with the academy at United, singled out 17-year-old striker Chido Obi as one of the youngsters with enough talent to pull the club out of the slump.

Comparing the striker to some of the established players at Old Trafford, Jones labelled Obi as “an animal”.

Speaking to the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, he said: “Working in and around the academy and helping those young players develop, United have some really good and talented young players coming through.

“The squad had a lot of injuries against Tottenham and the bench was full of kids, but there were some talented players on that bench.

“People might not know a lot about them now, but they certainly will in the next few years.

“I think you look at Kobbie Mainoo, top player, you look at Chido who we’ve just signed from Arsenal, who’s an animal.

“You look at Amad who had a couple of really good loans, and I remember watching him winning it against Liverpool in extra time last season, and I had said at that time he’d play a huge part in the next season.

“I played with Amad for a year or two and you could see then that the quality he had was really good and really strong.

“As I said there’s a great crop of young players ready to be given the chance and integrated into the team.”

Chido Obi was the only player to get off the bench for Ruben Amorim‘s side during the defeat to Spurs.

The Danish teenager didn’t actually manage to get a touch of the ball during his three minute cameo, but is tipped for big things inside the game.

Obi arrived in Manchester this summer after signing from rivals Arsenal where he had smashed youth records with his goalscoring exploits.

He managed an astonishing 32 goals in just 18 U18 Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season, and has scored nine in 11 for United’s youth ranks this term.

Amorim will be hoping that Obi can replicate that goalscoring prowess at senior level too, with both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund misfiring up top at the moment.

Zirkzee has scored just once in his last 13 appearances, while Hojlund has now gone 15 consecutive games without finding the back of the net.

United face Everton in the early kick-off at Goodison Park on Saturday and boss Amorim could call upon Obi to try and turn things around given the club’s dire situation at the moment.

THE HISTORY OF DUNNES STORES

DUNNES Stores opened its first store on Patrick Street in Cork in 1944 - and it was an instant hit.

Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland’s first ‘shopping frenzy’.

During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne’s ‘Better Value’ bargains.

Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 – starting with apples and oranges.

The retailer said: “Fruit was expensive at the time and Ben Dunne yet again offered Better Value than anyone else in town.

“Over time, our food selection has grown and that spirit of good value has remained strong.

“Now we offer a wide range of carefully-sourced foods from both local Irish suppliers and overseas.”

The retailer’s first Dublin store opened its doors in 1957 on Henry Street and a super store on South Great Georges Street was unveiled in 1960.

They added: “In 1971, our first Northern Irish store opened, and many others soon followed.

“Expansion continued in the 1980s in Spain, and later into Scotland and England.”

Dunnes now has 142 stores and employs 15,000 people.

Coronation Street fans notice huge blunder with Julie Carp’s return after a decade off screen – did you spot it?

CORONATION Street fans have noticed a huge blunder with Julie Carp’s return as she made a grand comeback after 10 years on the show.

Played by Katy Cavanagh, the sister of Eileen Grimshaw, was at Chariot Square Hotel at the same time as her nephew, Todd.

Spotting his aunt in the hotel for the singles Tea Dance, Todd exclaimed: “I don’t believe it, Julie!”

“Todd! Look at you!” she replied, adding: “I still can’t believe you’re here.”

Whilst the reunion between Julie and Todd was rather rosy, for Eileen’s boyfriend George Shuttleworth, it didn’t quite go to plan.

George seemed bemused as to who Julie was and appeared to not recognise her face at all.

However, baffled Coronation Street viewers have pointed out a huge blunder as they figured out how George must either be totally oblivious or pretending to not know who Julie is after a ‘giveaway clue’.

Eileen has long had a picture frame with all of her family members hanging proudly in the home of the Grimshaw’s.

As well as her children, one of the most prominent people in the photo frame is Julie herself.

It left fans baffled as to how George would fail to recognise her given he lives in a house where her photo hangs on the wall.

Moreover, it left fans questioning how George would never have even encountered a photo of Julie throughout his relationship with Eileen.

Reacting in utter bemusement, one fan penned: “Hang on, George doesn’t even recognise Julie Carp as Eileen’s sister….yet there’s a photo of her in Eileen’s house????”

It left another fan quipping: “It’s Gone ridiculous.”

Before a third went on to joke: “Yep thought that straight away!

“Mind you he’s only lived there a couple of years and there’s so many people crammed into the house there’s probably someone stood in front of the picture!”

Whilst viewers were delighted to see Julie make her comeback, it was clear that she was harbouring a huge secret as she reacted cagey at the thought of coming into contact with her sister Eileen.

Soap characters who've been recast

Soap operas are staple viewing for many people, but even some of the most famous characters have been played by different actors. Here are some examples from over the years.

Coronation Street

  • Tracy Barlow: Kate Ford took on the role of Corrie legend Tracy Barlow in 2002. Before Kate, three other actresses had played Tracy – most notably Dawn Acton from 1988 to 1999.
  • Nick Tilsley: Ben Price has been playing Gail’s oldest child in 2009, but the former Footballers’ Wives star is the third actor to take on the part.
  • Sarah Platt: Although Tina O’Brien debuted as Sarah Platt in 1999, she is the third actress who has played the iconic role of Sarah Platt.
  • David Platt: Completing the line-up of Gail’s children, David was initially played by Thomas Ormson for a decade before Jack P. Shepherd took over.
  • Daniel Osbourne: For almost a decade, the role of Ken Barlow’s son Daniel has been portrayed by actor Rob Mallard. Before Rob joined, two other actors had previously played Daniel.
  • Bethany Platt: Fans know Lucy Fallon as Bethany nowadays but before her, three other actresses had stepped into the character’s shoes.
  • Kirk Sutherland: Before Andy Whyment took on the role of Kirk, he played by an uncredited actor in his very first appearance.
  • Todd Grimshaw: Gareth Pierce stepped into the role of Todd back in 2020, becoming the second performer to play this part.
  • Summer Spellman: Harriet Bibby became the second actress to play Summer, taking over the role from Matilda Freeman in 2020.
  • Ryan Connor: Ryan Prescott currently plays the long-running character, but Ben Thompson and Sol Heras had earlier portrayed the role.

EastEnders

  • Martin Fowler: Although Martin was the first baby born on-screen in EastEnders, he hasn’t always been played by the same person. His current portrayer, James Bye, is the third actor to star as the character.
  • Peter Beale: Seven actors have portrayed Ian Beale’s elder son, with the current actor, Thomas Law, in his second stint as the character.
  • Ben Mitchell: Ben has been played by a total of six actors – with Max Bowden bowing out of the role in March 2024.
  • Bobby Beale: Before Clay Milner Russell, Ian’s younger son had been played by four other actors.
  • Freddie Slater: Bobby’s best mate, Freddie Slater, had been previously played by twins Alex and Tom Kilby before Bobby Brazier took over in 2022.
  • Chelsea Fox: Former Coronation Street actress Zaraah Abrahams took over the role of Chelsea in 2020. The character had been first played by Tiana Benjamin from 2006 to 2010.
  • Lauren Branning: Jacqueline Jossa took on the role of Lauren in 2010, succeeding Madeline Duggan who’d played her from 2006 to 2010.
  • Johnny Carter: Johnny has been played by three actors since debuting in 2013 – most recently, Charlie Suff has taken on the role.

February half term gets so expensive but my easy Aldi dinners all cost less than a QUID – your kids will love them too

A SAVVY mum shared her go-to recipes for stretching your grocery shop.

Her low-effort meals are created with fussy children in mind and will only set you back a quid per portion.

Her meals included loaded potatoes, curry, fish finger sandwiches, a pasta bake, and soup[/caption]

In her viral video, Instagram user Grace Mortimer (@_myfirstmeals) talked her 638,000 followers through five recipes.

“I have got five delicious new recipes that come in under a pound per portion from Aldi to help you through this February half-term,” she told her audience.

“I don’t know about you but I find that school holidays can just be a lot, there’s a lot going on, there’s a lot more thinking, planning, cooking, and it can be quite expensive.”

Grace decided to lay out a meal plan that was aimed at keeping costs low so parents have more money to spend on activities during the break.

First, she showed her viewers a creaming broccoli soup, which she topped with parmesan croutons.

The Instagrammer broke down the cost of the simple dish, which amounted to just 87p per serving.

Next, she constructed a fish finger sandwich on a bap, with tartar sauce, lettuce, and a side of oven chips.

This handy dinner only take minutes to make and costs just 97p per serving.

She also recommended a roasted cauliflower curry, which she created using all Aldi ingredients.

Served over a bed of white rice, this dish breaks down to just 96p per serving.

For a wholesome comfort dish, Grace made pizza-inspired loaded jacket potatoes.

Heaped with red peppers, red onions, and mozzarella cheese, each potato will only cost you £1.01 to create.

And for her personal favourite, the busy mum demonstrated how to make her “incredibly easy no-cook pasta sauce”.

She explained how the handy recipe is “just a case of popping things in a blender and pouring it over cooked pasta”.

For this recipe, she used one tin of chopped tomatoes, one tin of sliced carrots, and one jar of grilled peppers.

How to cut the cost of your grocery shop

SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from comparison site Money.co.uk about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:

  • Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
  • Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
  • Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
  • Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
  • Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
  • Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
  • Check the small print –  It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
  • Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards

She boiled 500 grams of pasta before draining it and setting it aside.

Next, Grace used a hand held blender to combine her three vegetables into a puree.

She then poured the pasta into an over dish and covered it in the homemade sauce.

After topping with mozzarella, she placed the pasta bake into the oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese began to bubble.

Grace revealed that she highly recommends trying out her pasta recipe.

Her personal favourite dish breaks down to just 89p per serving.

She explained that the portions are huge so they ensure “you’re getting quite a lot of bang for your buck”.
