Mrs Hinch cleaning fans reveal £1 MOUTHWASH that is so powerful it banishes mould from bathrooms & will save you £1,200

WITH energy bills soaring, many households are feeling the chill this winter as they try to cut costs.

However, the cold brings its own challenges, including the increased risk of mould.

And with the energy price cap set to rise yet again, many homeowners are turning to clever tricks and tips to keep expenses down.

The energy regulator, Ofgem, has announced the new price cap, which will come into effect on 1 April 2025.

For those not on a fixed deal, the annual average dual fuel bill will rise from £1,738 to £1,849.

Electricity prices will increase from 24.86p per kWh to 27.03p, meaning the average household will face an additional £9 per month, or £111 per year.

Amidst these financial pressures, Mrs Hinch fans have stepped up with a clever and cost-effective solution for tackling mould.

A surprising home hack, shared in the popular Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, has caught the attention of many: using Listerine mouthwash to eliminate mould.

This can cost between 99p and £3 depending on where you buy it from.

One group member shared her success story: “I found advice for my mum, and it said to use mouthwash because she had really bad mould on the walls.

“She tried it at the end of last year, and it hasn’t come back.”

Cleaning expert and director of Daily Poppins, Nigel Bearman, confirmed the effectiveness of this unconventional method.

He explained: “Listerine contains a combination of alcohol and essential oils that have antibacterial and antifungal properties.

“These properties help to kill bacteria, germs, and even mould spores.”

He added that any ethanol-based mouthwash would work, and with some options available for as little as £1, it’s a budget-friendly alternative to professional mould removal services, which can cost upwards of £1,200.

To try this hack for yourself, simply mix one part ethanol-based mouthwash with three parts water in a spray bottle.

Lightly spray the solution onto the affected area, leave it to sit for five to ten minutes, and then wipe the mould away with a clean cloth.

Repeat the process every few days until the mould is gone, and ensure the room is well-ventilated to prevent future growth.

While energy bills may be rising, small, simple solutions like this one can make a big difference – not just to your wallet, but also to your home.

With a little ingenuity and the right advice, you can tackle winter’s challenges head-on.

Bournemouth star, 21, switches international allegiance to play under ex-Premier League boss after representing England

BOURNEMOUTH star Daniel Jebbison has switched his national allegiance away from England.

The 21-year-old striker has agreed to represent Canada, according to reports.

Daniel Jebbison has switched his national allegiance away from England

Jebbison was born in Oakville, Ontario, but is eligible to represent England and Jamaica through his parents.

He has been capped 13 times across three different age groups in England‘s youth set up.

The Prem star was part of the Three Lions side that won the 2022 Under-19 Euros, where he scored against Serbia in the group stage.

But he has swapped his allegiance as Canada Soccer has landed one of the most sought-after dual-nationals in the programme’shistory

Jebbison has started the process of his Fifa one-time change of association.

An official announcement from Canada Soccer is expected soon, reports The Athletic.

Should that be completed in time, he would likely attend his first Canada training camp in March as part of the Concacaf Nations League finals.

Canada will face Mexico in the semifinals, with the winner advancing to meet either the U.S. or Panama.

Ex-Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has managed Canada since May 2024.

Marsch attended Bournemouth’s 1-0 loss to Wolves at the Vitality Stadium to see Jebbison come on in the 89th minute.

Marsch had several conversations with the striker and stressed the importance of Canada being one of three host nations for the 2026 World Cup.

Jebbison has been a regular substitute for Bournemouth in the second half of this season, since returning from a loan to Championship side Watford.

He has two goals in two FA Cup appearances this term and previously starred for Sheffield United in 2019.

Jebbison last played for England’s Under-20 side in May 2023 at the Fifa U-20 World Cup.

He was also partly convinced of how he could thrive with Canada thanks to a video Marsch and his staff created.

Canada turned to three top stars in Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David and Alistair Johnston, to record video messages expressing their interest in having Jebbison join.

Marsch also put a personal touch in his recruitment plan by creating a one-off Canada-themed pair of Air Jordans to gift to Jebbison.

The cheapest shop to buy Quality Street tubs this week as retailer slashes price of Nestle favourite

A MAJOR UK supermarket has slashed the price of Quality Street chocolates and they’re the cheapest around.

Iceland has dropped the cost of its 600g tub from £6 to £3 giving shoppers a 50% discount.

Quality Street Chocolate Tub 600g
Iceland has dropped the price of its 600g tub of Quality Street to £3

Bargain hunters can bag themselves the cut-price container on Iceland‘s website.

But make sure you factor in the cost of delivery, with charges starting from around £3.

Iceland slashing the price of the Quality Street 600g tub makes it the cheapest option to buy it out of all the major supermarkets too.

Tesco is selling the box for £6 while Ocado was selling the container for the same price but it’s no longer in stock.

Bear in mind, we have only checked how much the major supermarket chains are selling the tub for and you might find it cheaper elsewhere.

You can use websites like Trolley and Price Spy to compare prices on thousands of products including chocolates.

Or, you can use the Google Shopping/Product tab to trawl the internet and see how much retailers are selling a particular product for.

The latest deal from Iceland comes after Aldi shoppers were left rushing to one branch after spotting Quality Street chocs on the cheap.

The German discounter was flogging the 300g pouches for 49p down from £1.99 – a 75% discount.

Bargain hunters were quick to comment on a post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group flagging the deal.

One shopper reacting to the find said: “Lovely bargain. Yum yum!”

A third shopper said: “I paid £1.99 on Tuesday gutted…”

A fourth added: “Not had any in ours for months.”

QUALITY STREET NEWS

Festive-themed chocolates have been shrinking in size as manufacturers face mounting costs.

Celebrations, Roses and Quality Street have all shrunk in recent years, but prices have either stayed the same or gone up.

The weight of the tubs has been lowered by as much as 50g, with the cost going up as much as 50p.

Meanwhile, Nestlé recently faced criticism after being accused of shrinking the size of the iconic Purple One chocolate.

The maker of Quality Street later confirmed it had reduced the size of the much-loved hazelnut-filled treat by over 10%, sparking outrage among loyal customers.

Nestlé previously stirred controversy by altering the iconic Brazil nut-shaped design of the caramel treat, replacing it with a circular swirl.

However, fans also picked up on a change in size, with one even weighing both versions to calculate the extent of the “shrinkflation.”

Originally, the chocolate weighed 9.6 grams, but the new version tipped the scales at just 8.4 grams – a reduction of 12%.

Quality Street lover Rebecca Gracey fumed online: “Half of the appeal of Quality Street is/was aesthetic.

“Changing the shape and size of much loved favourites is sacrilege.

“I’ve never forgiven Nestlè for changing the diamond of fudge into a most uninteresting shape.

“However, the final straw was changing the shiny cellophane and foil wrappers to dull waxed paper.

“I have not purchased them since that abomination.”

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Tottenham vs Manchester City tips

Our Bet Builder selections: Tottenham win, BTTS (YES), Brennan Johnson and Omar Marmoush to score at 20/1. ADD TO YOUR BET SLIP HERE!

Back our 20/1 Bet Builder

Here’s why we’ve made those selections..

  • Tottenham win: Tottenham tails are up following a run of three straight Premier League victories – the longest run in the division. Ange Postecoglou has crucial members of the side back and they should be able to capitalise on a confidence-stricken Manchester City.
  • BTTS (YES): They might be struggling for results, but Manchester City have still scored more goals than any other side in the division over the last fix league matches (16). They have, however, conceded the seventh most goals in that period (10). They’ve also shipped 15 goals in their last six away games in all competitions.
  • Brennan Johnson to score: He’s back and he’s back with a bang! The Wales international grabbed a fine brace against Ipswich Town over the weekend, and has fond memories of this fixture having grabbed the fourth at the Etihad earlier this season.
  • Omar Marmoush to score: If Manchester City are to score, and we expect they will, it’s more than likely to come via Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian scored a hat-trick against Newcastle United, and no Manchester City player can better his 11 attempts on goal over the last four matches, nor better his minutes per shot on 26.6.
