ARTEFACTS made from extraterrestrial metal have been discovered by archaeologists in two ancient cemeteries in Poland.
Four items of jewellery, three bracelets and a pin, containing a form of iron only found in meteorites were pulled from Early Iron Age burials.
The graves, in Częstochowa-Raków and nearby Częstochowa-Mirów, are dated between 750 and 600 BC.
Archaeologists used a number of tools, such as X-rays and electron microscopy, to see what the jewellery pieces were made of.
Based on the high nickel levels in the iron, researchers believe the artefacts are made from an ataxite meteorite.
Ataxites are an especially rare form of iron meteorites.
Despite their rarity, researchers believe the randomness of the finds suggests the material was not thought to be particularly valuable at the time.
“There is a high likelihood that there was a witnessed [meteor] fall rather than a lucky find,” Albert Jambon of Sorbonne University, and co-author of the study, told the Phys.org website.
“Iron meteorites may be large (hundreds of kg), but this may actually be a problem.
“Large pieces are not workable, and you need to separate small pieces (less than one kg), which is hardly possible with the tools of the Iron Age (see, e.g., the pieces of iron worked by the Inuits).”
The findings also suggest the ancient inhabitants of Poland were aware of iron processing earlier than first thought.
Researchers found banding patterns on the metal, suggesting they could be the oldest examples of patterned iron in the world.
It significantly predates Damascus steel, which is used in modern knives.
The meteorite jewellery was found amongst a collection of 26 artefacts, including ankle rings, knives and spearheads housed in the Częstochowa Museum.
They were excavated in the 1960s, but were reanalysed by Professor Jambon and Dr Karol Dzięgielewski from Jagiellonian University.
“This modest number of specimens nevertheless forms one of the biggest collection of meteoritic iron products at one archaeological site worldwide,” the pair wrote in the study.
MARRIED At First Sight star Ryan Livesey has revealed why he was missing from the reunion show – despite his ex being invited.
It comes after binman Ryan quit the show, meaning his wife Sionainn Carmichael also had to leave MAFS UK.
Sionainn returned for the explosive reunion show alongside a host of other contestants for series eight and nine.
But some E4 viewers were left wondering why Ryan did not make an appearance.
He has now taken to social media to reveal that he was invited to the reunion but he turned it down.
He shared a photo of the 2024 gang and wrote: “I’ve been getting messages asking why I wasn’t at the reunion.
“I decided I didn’t want to do any more filming.”
He added: “I was at the last reunion, and I made it clear that I was done. A wrap is a wrap.”
Unfortunately for Ryan, things didn’t work out with his TV bride Sionainn.
Explaining his decision to leave the show, he said: “Writing this is difficult, and to be honest, I’m not sure where to begin.
“I was starting to develop real feelings and it meant a lot to hear Sionainn say she felt ‘safe and comfortable’ around me.
“This is something I truly pride myself on.
“I wish things would have turned out differently but now feels like the right time for myself and Sionainn to leave the experiment and I wish her all the best for the future.”
It comes after Ryan was at the centre of a huge row between Hannah Norburn and her husband Stephen Nolson prior to their exit.
During the couple’s retreat, Hannah was accused of being inappropriate towards Ryan.
Polly told the group: “Last night after the commitment ceremony she’s gone up to Sionainn and Ryan’s room and she was rubbing Ryan’s feet in front of Sionainn and going ‘ain’t you got nice blue eyes, your feet are so soft, isn’t it nice and warm in there?’”
But things got even worse for Ryan, when Stephen told him he planned to make a move on Sionainn.
During a tense confrontation in front of the group, Ryan raged: “If I wasn’t here, you’d crack on with her? Muppet.”
Hannah also found herself being confronted by the other brides over her flirting with Ryan – despite being married to Stephen.
Hannah told them: “Nobody is letting me speak, how do you think that makes me feel? It’s f****** horrible.”
But Polly was quick to jump in and told her: “Don’t start getting muggy.
“Do not start speaking to people like that. The last thing you want to do is get brave.” An upset Hannah replied: “Don’t threaten me.”

FUMING locals are locked in a row with their neighbour who wants to block off a “300-year-old” footpath leading to the town centre.
Tempers have flared in a neighbour row in Norfolk – with a farm owner threatening to close the popular pathway between Marriott’s Way and Windmill Lane, Norwich.
The spat started when Nigel Darling insisted the route, which is popular among pedestrians, horse rider and dog walkers, is receiving “appalling” treatment.
He said cars are driven in non-permitted areas, people walk across sowed farmland and dogs are often allowed off the lead.
The enraged local added that signs have been smashed and newly planted hedges have been destroyed.
He told Evening News: “If this continues we shall have to shut the pathway.”
Town Councillor Gary Blundell and an outraged local have fought back, saying the track’s closure would mean people “will have a much further walk” to Marriott’s Way.
They have teamed up to make the track a legal right of way but this requires proving it has been used for over a decade.
But according to the Councillor, the path has been used for almost three centuries.
He has submitted the proposal to Norfolk County Council, who will deliberate the plan in the coming months.
He said: “It should be added to the definitive map so that people can continue to enjoy it for hundreds of years into the future as they have done for hundreds of years in the past.”
The farm owner has insisted he will reject any proposals to make the path a legal right of way – saying he is determined to “protect the habitat”.
This comes just months after a Norfolk couple spent their life savings and even faced jail time in a dispute with their late neighbour over a wooden fence.
Graham and Katherine Bateson, 75 and 73, spent £45,000 on legal fees attempting to remove a boundary put up by their neighbour, Wendy Leedham.
To their dismay, Leedham, who died at age 74, had obtained planning permission to erect the fence at the end o their bungalow, despite the couple being told it was a shared driveway.
Retired factory supervisor Mrs Bateson told the Eastern Daily Press: “We’d lived here 32 years without any problems with the previous neighbours, they all agreed it was a shared driveway.
“To have all your life savings taken away like that, when you knew you were right in the first place.”
The couple bought their two-bedroom house in Snettisham back in 1987 but, unbeknownst to them, their serene cul-de-sac would turn into a bitter legal battleground.
Norwich City Council have been approached for comment.
It is a criminal offence, under section 137 of the Highways Act 1980, to obstruct the whole or part of the width of a public path.
An obstructed path is one where something is lying (or has been placed) across the path which physically prevents you from using that part of the path.
Obstructions may include barbed wire on the top rail of a stile; or rubbish dumped on, or a garden boundary extended over, a right of way.
Problems affecting rights of way need to be reported to the highway authority, this would be the county council in England and Wales and the London Borough Council in the capital.
Highway Authorities have duties and powers to keep highways maintained, open and available for use.
The actions that an authority can take include service of a notice on the person causing the offence; telling him or her what action the authority intends taking with powers to recover their costs; and, where necessary, taking the potential offender to the Magistrates’ Court for an order to remove the issue.
A MARRIED At First Sight bride has ripped into her ex by insisting she’ll never speak to him again.
Just as the dust settled from Monday night’s reunion, Hannah Norburn opened old wounds with show hubby Stephen Nolson.
The pair went their separate ways six weeks into last year’s experiment and fitness expert Stephen didn’t attend the latest reunion.
There were claims of infidelity levelled at both of them on the show before they finally reached a point in a commitment ceremony when enough was enough.
When asked last night by a fan on Instagram if the pair had spoken since last year’s explosive reunion episode, Hannah had an emphatic answer.
She wrote: “No and I never will.
“The way that man treated me. Spoke to my face & behind my back was something I’ve never experienced before and the things I’ve heard about him since make me realise I dodged a bullet big time.
“He wasted the whole experience not just for himself but also for me through his stubbornness & self-entitlement and I don’t hold any respect at all for him.”
She then criticised him for not defending her during the ill-tempered first reunion show that saw her clash with a number of other brides.
“The last time I saw him was at the reunion when he sat next to me and watched me get ganged up on without a single word,” said Hannah.
“He even leaned out of the way to let one girl shout at me at one point.”
Aside from her wedding day and two days of their honeymoon, she called the experience a “misery”.
While Hannah isn’t in a rush to forgive her ex, she did heal her feud with Holly Ditchfield on Monday night, much to the shock of viewers.
The surprise reconciliation came after months of tension, which first erupted during a girls’ night out in the series.
Holly, 29, was accused of bullying Hannah, 33, after making cutting remarks, including “Look what the cats dragged in”, when Hannah arrived.
The E4 show was subsequently hit with more than 200 Ofcom complaints from furious viewers.
The atmosphere soured further as Holly and others accused Hannah of inappropriate behavior with other grooms, particularly her own man Alex Henry, 28.
Hannah quickly became one of the most controversial figures of the season, with viewers calling her out for flirtatious interactions with multiple grooms.
But at the reunion, Holly unexpectedly apologised to Hannah.
Holly broke down in tears as she said: “I have been through some treacherous s**t in my life, Hannah.
“It’s not even a personal thing, but you did relate to a lot of my insecurities where a woman came in and took away my relationship.
“I hate that I ever made you feel singled out, I’m so sorry for making you feel so vulnerable and hurt as a person to sit in a room and have to feel like you are being targeted.
“That is horrible, that is mean-girl behaviour and I am so sorry. I genuinely am, from the bottom of my heart.
“That behaviour is not okay. I need to set an an amazing impression to my daughter growing up.”
“At the end of the day, as long as you’re polite to me and I’m polite to you, that’s all that matters.”
Hannah replied: “I appreciate that. I think if you came to me and said ‘Listen, you being pally with Alex is bringing up insecurities as a woman’, we could have had a very different experience.
“I get it. I think, let’s draw a line in the sand, let’s move on. I respect the conversation, I respect the apology and I will own my bit and move forward. I can’t see us ever being besties and braiding each other’s hair.”
Holly joked: “I don’t, but we can share a Prosecco on a night out sometime.”
