Cop sacked for harvesting secret info about Nicola Bulley from police database which she shared as gossip with pals

A GLAMOROUS policewoman has lost her job after she was caught passing on confidential information about tragic mum Nicola Bulley.

WPC Molly Bury, 28, illegally accessed the Police National Computer to get intimate updates about 45-year Nicola – who sparked a major police hunt when she went missing – so she could pass on “tittle tattle” to friends and family.

When one pal kept pestering Bury for updates, the Lancashire Police officer said: ”I will get in s*** if they see me checking.”

When pressed again she added: “I have not checked. I cannot keep checking. I will get into trouble.”

The officer was arrested after a shocked member of the public overheard her mother Andrea Mercer telling how “Molly” had shared information with her about a rape after she “checked her police thing”.

Investigations revealed Bury had been accessing the police logs over a three year period between October 2019 and March 2023 to share ‘idle gossip’ for ”no policing purpose.”

She also obtained info on the death of a baby, a hit run and crash and a stabbing and in one day alone she accessed a log about a domestic violence incident and grabbed information about a pre-planned arrest of a robbery suspect.

When quizzed she admitted she had been ”stupid and nosey” but insisted she was not malicious.”

Most of the information was accessed when she was on annual leave or on the sick.

Nicola was found dead in the River Wyre at St Michaels on Wyre in February 2023 following a three week manhunt for her which sparked wild speculation online.

A coroner later concluded she had drowned after accidentally falling into the water whilst walking her dog.

At Chester magistrates court, mother of one Bury, from Accrington, Lancs, pleaded guilty to 32 offences of unauthorised access to police logs.

She faced up to two years jail under sentencing guidelines but was sentenced to six months in prison suspended for 12 months after a judge ruled she was ”profoundly immature” and ”not corrupt.”

Earlier Miss Gayle McCoubrey, prosecuting, said the unnamed member of the public contacted police in March 2023, after overhearing Bury’s mother sharing information about a rape.

The prosecutor said: “She was heard to say: “I asked Molly. She checked her police thing and she said it was a rape.”

She said Molly had told her about a victim a few weeks prior and she said it was a murder.

Police systems identified that WPC Molly Bury had viewed both logs on a police issued Samsung device whilst off duty.

Police raided Bury’s home and recovered a mobile phone which showed she had sent confidential information about various police incidents.

In October 2019 she sent details of a stabbing incident which she had attended to a friend called Elliot, saying: “The lad from stabbing survived.”

She later sent him further messages saying: “A hit and run just came in. Woman probably going to die. Car drove onto the pavement into this lad and girl.”

In a further message regarding a dead baby found in December 2019, Bury said: “Oh my God, it is a one year old child.”

When on a rest day she sent further texts saying to Elliott: “Undercover police are outside your address.” To which he replied: “F** the feds.”

The court heard Bury also shared information with a woman called Amy Sanderson about a local man wanted for a stabbing, another in jail for drugs offences and about a woman who jumped off a building.

Miss McCoubrey said: “On January 28, 2023, the defendant was showing as off sick yet she carried out a search for Nicola Bulley and messages were sent regards that. She sent a number of text messages with regard to that missing person.

“On January 29, she was sick but has again accessed the police system and viewed deployed patrols. At 10.59 Miss Sanderson asked: ‘Any update on Nicky?’ She replied, ‘I will get in shit if they see me checking.’

“At 11.01, she accessed the Samsung device and searched again and a further message was sent regarding Nicola Bulley.

“At 6.33 Miss Sanderson sent a message ‘Any update?’ and Miss Bury replied: ‘I have not checked. I cannot keep checking. I will get into trouble.’”

“In terms of culpability, this conduct takes place over a number of years, there are 32 occasions, so obviously the volume of the charges is an aggravating feature. She was spreading gossip or sensitive information.”

Bury, who was based at Blackburn police station, was also ordered to complete 30 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £154 in costs and surcharge.

Sentencing, Deputy Senior District Judge Tan Ikram, said: “These are not corrupt messages. There is no money involved. There is no suggestion this is a criminal fraternity.

“She clearly knew what she was doing was wrong. but the harm is damage to the reputation of police and confidence in policing. It was immature gossiping throughout. She was doing work without any insight into the job.

“It was tittle tattle nonsense much of it.”

He told Bury: “You made admissions and you were remorseful in the interview. I think it was real remorse. You described your actions as stupid and that you had been nosey. You did not think you were malicious and I accept that.

“But you conceded that it crossed boundaries and these undignified and unlawful disclosures demonstrated profound immaturity on your part.

“There was a complete lack of insight into the need for confidentiality in policing. You seem to find humour and positive pleasure in sharing information.

“On occasions it is clearly more than curiosity and it is clear that it gives the impression of idle gossip.”

The judge added: ”You are a police officer 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Just like I am a district judge 24 hours a day, seven days a week – it does matter where I am or what I am doing – I am accountable. I find your behaviour disappointing.”

Forget handshakes, make amends & find common ground: My advice to Starmer ahead of Trump visit, from an ex-US official

MY first bit of advice to Prime Minister Keir Starmer would be not to worry about winning the “handshake war” with President Donald J. Trump when he meets him at the White House.

French President Macron just lost and look at all the nice things Trump then said about France during their meeting in the Oval Office.

Besides, even if you win…you lose.

Do you really want to undermine the critical relationship between Britain and the United States because you bested Trump in a power handshake?

Reasoned diplomacy and multiple treaties, defence contracts, and economic initiatives scream out for you to throw the contest for the betterment of your fellow citizens back home.

Next, before you broach any diplomatic or international relations issues, you have some fences to mend with Trump.

Three which come to mind are these: First, you allow approximately one hundred members of the Labour Party to fly to the United States to actively campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris.

In case no one on your team told you, that really angered the President.

He and his team referred to it as “foreign election interference.”

Next, we have Labour’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy once shockingly labelling Trump a “neo-Nazi-sympathizing sociopath.”

Not surprisingly, Trump and his team were not thrilled with that description from a “professional” diplomat in the Starmer government.

Last — Leaving London Mayor Sadiq Khan and his many insults of Trump aside — we have Lord Peter Mandelson — your current ambassador to the United States — who once openly called Trump a danger to the world.

Regardless if your diplomats need a refresher course in diplomacy or not, you can be assured that Trump’s team in the White House will have reminded the President of these comments.

Blame it all on bad curry, a total eclipse of the Sun, or the far-left all-in-one excuse/accusation of “Russian interference,” but acknowledge it all to be regrettable mistakes and then move on instantly to common ground.

Before you walk into the Oval Office, have several at your mental fingertips ready to discuss.

Leaving poisonous and self-destructive partisan politics outside the door of the Oval Office, you will be reminded or instantly discover that President Trump truly likes people and rarely holds a grudge.

One of the latest examples of that is Trump joking and laughing with former President Barack Obama at the services for Jimmy Carter.

Trump is convinced that Obama was out to destroy him and yet…water under the bridge in so many ways when they sat together.

Remember also, that Trump’s mother was from Scotland and he truly does have a soft spot for the United Kingdom, its traditions, and the Royal Family.

More than that, he respects you. As he recently said of you while aboard Air Force One: “I get along with him well. I like him a lot. He’s liberal, which is a bit different from me, but I think he’s a very good person and I think he’s done a very good job thus far.”

Up to 30,000 British and European soldiers would be placed on the ground

Like and respect Trump back.

To break the ice with the President maybe ask him if he sees much of America’s and the world’s problems through the lens of a highly successful businessman.

What are the advantages of that? What are the disadvantages?

As you ask, keep in mind that in Joe Biden, Businessman Trump was replacing someone who had been a career politician for over half a century.

Has Trump become the template for the “Un-Politician?” Ask him.

Next, with regard to one of the President’s most persistent criticisms of NATO, point out that you, as Prime Minister, did just lift defence spending to 2.5%. From there, move on to Ukraine.

Remember that just a few short days ago, you said during a speech at an international summit on supporting Ukraine in Kyiv that: “President Trump has changed the global conversation over the last few weeks, and it has created an opportunity. Now we must get the fundamentals right.”

Illustration of a proposed peace plan for Ukraine, showing troop movements and territorial concessions.

Lean into that positive regarding Trump. He has created an “opportunity.”

Thank him for doing so and then speak to the common ground the two of you do share regarding that horrific and needless war.

Leave the details to the specialists from both our nations.

Next, remind the President that a strong and secure Europe strengthens the United States while acting as one more buffer against China and Russia.

And that the key to securing Europe is to build upon the special and crucial relationship between our two nations.

Ignore the haters from both nations and speak from your heart to Trump.

That will go a long way toward getting the friendship back on track.

EastEnders’ Kellie Bright reveals two moments were missed out of soap’s live episode – after BBC cut ‘too rude’ scene

EASTENDERS cut two moments from the live episode script – with one being “too rude” to air.

One scene showed Sonia going into labour minutes after the Queen Vic exploded.

Bianca and Lauren were trapped in the Queen Vic with Sonia while she was in labour[/caption]

She was trapped in the pub with Lauren and Bianca, who realised they’d need to help Sonia deliver the baby.

Bianca didn’t want to check on Sonia, telling Lauren to do it.

The script – which the actors had just hours to learn – orginally saw Bianca telling Lauren “it’s only a fanny!”, but bosses changed the wording at the last minute.

Speaking on her podcast, Off The Telly, actress Natalie Cassidy said they decided “it’s only a noonie” was more appropriate.

Natalie also spoke to Kellie Bright who revealed Linda was supposed to toss a coin in the dramatic live show scene where Denise chose between love interests Jack and Ravi – until she persuaded bosses she was too terrified she’d mess it up.

The love triangle decision – which was ultimately decided by a viewer vote – saw Kelly’s character Linda Carter giving Denise advice over whether to forge her future with ex-husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) or Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).

The soap’s scriptwriters had penned Linda saying ‘Why not toss a coin’ before going ahead and doing it.

But Kellie has now revealed that because the show was being beamed to the nation live – and she is hopeless at flipping coins – she was terrified her nerves would make her embarrass herself in front of millions of viewers.

Kellie, speaking to Joanna Page and Natalie Cassidy – who bowed out of EastEnders after the 40th anniversary week – on their Off The Telly podcast, said: “I was supposed to flip a coin in that scene.

“So when we first got the script, I take out a coin – because it’s all about Denise making her decision.

“And so I say ‘why don’t you toss a coin?’ and I was supposed to then go on and toss the coin, catch the coin, and she then puts her hand over my hand before I call it to say ‘No, I know what I want to do’.”

But after learning of the plan, Kellie begged show bosses to spare her having to toss and catch the coin as if she messed it up and dropped it there would have been no chance of a second take with it going out live.

Kellie, 48, said: “I just went ‘Er, no, just no, don’t do that to me – please don’t’.

“I can’t toss a coin for a toffee anyway. And I just thought ‘My hands would be sweaty, shaking, there is no way.

“And so I suggested that she just stop me just before I toss a coin – and thankfully they let me (do that).

“But I was like ‘I can’t do that – I can’t do that live’. Even if we were recording that I’d probably have to do it ten times.”

Kellie still took extra back-up precautions in case she fumbled the coin or it ended up on the floor.

She added: “I had three 50p’s in my pocket in case one fell on the floor.”

In the end Denise, played by Diane Parish, decided to carry on with Jack, but that outcome was decided by a viewer vote in the lead-up to last Thursday’s live episode – a first in the show’s history.

As the aftermath of the Queen Vic pub’s explosion played out on screen, Denise was shown knocking on the door of a house.

The door opened to reveal her ex-husband Jack, who she was married to from 2021 until 2024, standing behind the door, looking surprised to see her.

As she walked into the house, Ravi left his own home and watched on, looking shocked and devastated.

Upon reuniting with Jack, Denise declared her love for him as she begged him to give their relationship another try.

She said: “I feel safe with you, Jack. I want to feel safe. Ravi and me… it’d never go anywhere. We’re from two different worlds.

“I see a future with you Jack. Our history, that runs deep. My feelings haven’t changed, I still love you.”

The pair then sealed their reunion with a passionate kiss.

EastEnders continues on BBC One and iPlayer.

Barry McGuigan urges ‘addicted’ Katie Taylor to fight ‘new girl on the block’ before retiring from boxing

BARRY McGUIGAN hopes Katie Taylor fights Caroline Dubois before retiring from boxing.

The 38-year-old is set for a big year in 2025, with potential trilogy bouts against Amanda Serrano and Chantelle Cameron on her radar.

Irish boxing legend McGuigan believes that Taylor vs Serrano 3 will happen and that, if he was in a management capacity, he would suggest she retire after that.

However, the 63-year-old does not expect her to hang up the gloves any time soon due to her obsession with the sport.

McGuigan was speaking to Spinbet and said: “What she has achieved has been remarkable for women’s boxing, for Ireland too.

“She’s a superb girl who is very hard working and has been a great representative for women’s boxing and professional boxing in general.

“If I was managing her, I would want the Serrano fight and bow out, but I get the impression that even though she is 38, and a young 38 years old, she looks younger and, in your head, you feel young but when I look back, you think you’re never going to age.

“Katie is addicted to the sport since being a kid with her dad with what she achieved as an Olympian and everything else.

“We seem to focus on boxers when their ability starts to fade, and life expectancy starts to fade in the sport.

“She has achieved amazing things but will seriously have to think after the trilogy with Amanda Serrano about bowing out which will be very difficult.

“I get the impression Katie is the type of girl who will find it hard to leave boxing.”

If she does stick around after the Serrano trilogy, McGuigan hopes Taylor will face Caroline Dubois – sister of heavyweight champ Daniel Dubois.

The 24-year-old is the WBC lightweight champion having been upgraded from interim champ when the Bray woman relinquished the belt in December.

She will defend that title against Bo Mi Re Shin at the Royal Albert Hall on March 7.

Barry is part of the team of Dubois, who trains out of McGuigan Gym under his son Shane McGuigan.

And The Clones Cyclone hopes the Bray Bomber will stick around long enough for the two to square off.

He added: “Caroline Dubois has a tough fight coming up, but we are looking for the big names.

“Katie Taylor, Chantelle Cameron and Amanda Serrano.

“We have the new girl on the block who is flying in the gym and is looking better every single day.

“Caroline Dubois is hunting all of these girls and we hope Katie will stay around long enough to fight her.”

Thrifty shoppers have been sharing their hauls on Facebook after saving a fortune[/caption]

According to bargain-mad shoppers, the mega supermarket has slashed prices for numerous viral cleaning essentials, with goodies now selling for pennies.

As some items are now going for as little as 37p, it’s no wonder that customers are clearing the shelves – so you’ll have to be quick if you want to get your hands on any of them.

One lucky shopper, Krystian Kamieniarz, for instance, managed to save a whopping £65 thanks to the fabulous sale.

Sharing his haul on Facebook, Krystian revealed he had snapped up three packs of the viral Lenor Scent Boosters, which usually go for around £3 at most stores.

However, with the new offer, the shopper paid just 37p per pack – and that’s not all.

Other incredible deals the thrifty man spotted was the Domestos Power Fresh Toilet Gel Lime Fresh – down from £1.50 to a mere 27p – as well as Duck Deep Action Gel Toilet Liquid Cleaner Marine, down from £1.25 to just 65p.

According to Krystian, there are also some offers to look out for in the skincare section, where he found Nivea Men Big Soothe Gift Set for more than half-price.

The set, ideally as a last-minute present, typically sells for £5 – but Morrisons is now offering it for just £1.25.

In total, the bill should’ve come to over an eye-watering £100 – but the epic sales meant Krystian paid a little over £35.

The lucky customer is not the only one who managed to make the most out of the incredible deals – mum Rach El also shared a jaw-dropping haul on the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.

Uploading snaps of the goodies she’d purchased, Rach wrote in her post: ”Definitely some good offers to be had at Morrisons.

”You need to check though as quite a few of these were still full price on the shelf. I had to take them to self scan and check.”

Needless to say, both of the posts have taken the internet by storm, getting close to 900 likes in total.

One person said: ”every store seems different. The store I went to had loads of new packaging with a couple of the old reduced ones mixed in.”

Someone else chimed in: ”I was in a Morrisons the other day & they had a load of offers too.

”Stacked in crates at the door. Must be a regular thing for them to do.”

10 Grossest Areas People Forget to Clean

By Danielle Mason, who has 20 years of experience

Under and Behind the Fridge
Crumbs, dust, and spills accumulate over time, attracting pests and creating bad odours.

Shower Curtain & Liner
These collect mildew and soap scum but are often overlooked. Wash or replace them regularly to keep your bathroom fresh.

Toothbrush Holder
One of the germiest places in the bathroom, filled with bacteria and toothpaste residue. Rinse and disinfect it weekly.

Dishwasher Filter
Food particles and grease build up, leading to unpleasant smells and reduced efficiency. Remove and clean the filter every few weeks.

Washing Machine Seal
The rubber gasket traps mould, mildew, and detergent buildup. Wipe it down with white vinegar and leave the door open to air dry.

Light Switches and Remote Controls
Touched daily but rarely cleaned, making them germ hotspots. Wipe them down with disinfectant regularly.

Under the Sofa Cushions
Crumbs, dust, and even lost items hide in the cracks. Remove the cushions and vacuum thoroughly.

Kitchen Sink & Plughole
Food residue builds up, causing bad odours. Pour boiling water, bicarbonate of soda, and vinegar down the drain to freshen it.

Ceiling Fans
Dust piles up on the blades and gets redistributed into the air when turned on. Use a microfibre cloth or pillowcase to clean them easily.

Doormats
They trap dirt and bacteria from shoes but are rarely washed or vacuumed. Shake them out weekly and deep clean them every month.
