Paul Edwards
THREE men have been arrested after a “drive-by-shooting” which left a nine-year-old girl fighting for her life outside a restaurant.
The girl was eating dinner with her family at the Evin Turkish restaurant in Kingsland High Street in Dalston, east London, on the evening of May 29 last year when she was seriously injured in the incident.
The Metropolitan Police said on Thursday three men – aged 36, 35 and 28 – were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday and have been released on bail pending further investigation.
Scotland Yard confirmed the girl’s family has been informed of the arrests and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
Three other men were injured in the shooting, the force added.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dalloway, who is leading the investigation, said: “A little girl’s life was traumatically changed on the evening of Wednesday 29 May.
The dangerous individual responsible for those life-changing injuries remains on our streets, and people out there know who pulled the trigger.
“This investigation is not slowing down. We need to hear from those who have information about the identity of an individual seen on a motorcycle in Kingsland High Street at the time of this offence, or if anyone has seen the same model of Ducati Monster.
“We recognise people may be apprehensive about sharing information but it is imperative they do so. They do not need to speak directly to the police.
“They can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers.”

2 weeks agoBlogsComments Off on Teen, 19, complained of neck rashes that turned out to be worms squirming inside him
A TEENAGER visited a dermatology clinic complaining of an unsightly rash which was later found to be parasitic worms.
The 19-year-old boy worked as a beach lifeguard in southern California and had not travelled abroad recently.
New England Journal of MedicineThe rash showed up on his neck because he spent a lot of time lying on the beach, exposed to the sand[/caption]
Upon examination, doctors spotted two unusual snake-like rashes on his neck – one on the back and one on the side.
Both marks were red and raised but not painful, medics from West Los Angeles Medical Center, in the US, wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine.
A small skin sample called a biopsy, revealed a mild inflammation, and a fungal test returned negative.
Given the boy’s beachside job and the way the rash looked, doctors diagnosed him with cutaneous larva migrans, a parasitic skin infection caused by hookworm larvae – baby worms that haven’t yet developed into adults.
People most often catch the infection by walking barefoot on sand or soil in areas where dogs and cats have pooped.
The condition is commonly known as a creeping infection because once infected the larvae burrow under the skin’s surface and cause itchy red lines or tracks.
While typically seen in international travellers, it can also occur in warmer US regions like California, where the man resided.
The larvae typically infect the soles of a person’s feet, but in this case, the rash appeared on his neck because he spent a lot of time lying on the beach, exposed to the sand.
The rash is usually itchy, caused by the larvae squirming through the skin and triggering inflammation.
After completing a two-day course of ivermectin, a parasitic roundworm treatment, the rash cleared up quickly.
The weirdest things found inside the human body – from a fly buzzing around a man’s gut to a coconut and deodorant can
IT is not unusual for doctors to find random objects inside people's bodies.
Whether they are inhaled by accident, inserted for erotic pleasure or as a means to try and solve a health problem like constipation, doctors see it all.
Medics recently found a fully intact fly buzzing around a man’s intestines.
Spiders crawling inside the body are rare; those with arachnophobia will be pleased to hear.
While the person giving a home to a spider had little choice, others accidentally inhale objects, while some even purposely stick things up themselves.
A 2021 study found the vast majority – a whopping 88 per cent – of people attending A&E with this complaint are men.
Inhaling objects is one of the most common causes of death in children under three.
Some of the most commonly inhaled objects include coins, toys or magnets, peanuts, and even hot dogs.
In one bizarre case published in Dove Press, doctors in Africa found a leech stuck in a little girl’s throat, which was later safely removed.
A postman from Preston, England, inhaled a Playmobil road cone as a child, but it was only discovered when the 47-year-old had his lungs scanned when he presented with a persistent cough.
In another odd case, a man inhaled a pea, which was in place long enough for it to begin to sprout in his respiratory tract.

AlamyHarry Maguire bagged Man Utd’s winner against Ipswich[/caption]
United’s victory was just their fifth in 16 Premier League matches under Amorim.
Reports earlier this month suggested that some Red Devils players had questioned the Portuguese’s 3-4-3 system.
On how United stars have been getting to grips with the system change, Fernandes told TNT Sports: “Me and H (Harry Maguire) have been here for a while already, so we know we have to stick with what we’ve been training, what we’ve been trying to do, what we’re supposed to do.
“You could feel in moments it’s not working but for some reason the manager wants us to do that.
“If he wants us to do that, they (the opposition) watches us for many games and prepare themselves.
“We have a big staff, not just his ones but the ones that are already here.
“We have great people behind the team to try to work on that so if they do that in the right way, we just have to come on the pitch and show it.”
The Red Devils subsequently drew level through Sam Morsy’s own goal, with Matthijs de Ligt bundling home to give them the lead on 26 minutes.
Disaster struck before half-time, with Dorgu being red carded for a high challenge and Jaden Philogene equalising.
Ten-man United rallied to secure the points, however, with Maguire heading home the winner.
After his side’s triumph, Fernandes added: “The moment is what it is. We’ve been suffering, we know that. We’ve not been at our best.
“And as H said today (it’s positive) when you’re not playing your best football and concede a goal early but still get back into the game.
“We scored from two set-pieces and were in complete control of the game, playing between the lines, finding the spaces.
“I still think we’re missing that little bit of aggressiveness going forward, when we beat the opposition between the lines and we turn we need to be more aggressive, but we’re going to get that with time.
“Players are getting more confident so hopefully in the next games, we will score more and more.”
United’s win saw them leapfrog Everton into 14th in the table.
The Red Devils will return to action on Sunday when they host Arsenal.
Man Utd ratings vs Ipswich as Maguire saves the day after Onana makes case to be WORST ever signing
MANCHESTER UNITED eased their fears of the drop in a topsy-turvy relegation six-pointer with Ipswich.
The Red Devils triumphed 3-2 despite playing the second half with ten men.
A major cock-up from Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana saw Ipswich take a third-minute lead through Jaden Philogene.
Then, after United had recovered to lead 2-1, Dorgu saw a straight red card for a poor challenge on Omari Hutchinson.
Philogene scored again to level it before the break only for Harry Maguire to nod in to be United’s saviour.
