Man ‘crashed into police car then charged at officers with chainsaw’ in Scots street
A MAN who allegedly charged at police officers with a chainsaw is to stand trial accused of attempted murder.
Liridon Kastrati, 31, is alleged to have carried out the assault in streets in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on May 6 last year.

Prosecutors claim he initially drove a car at excessive speed, mounted the pavement, and smacked into a marked police vehicle.
Kastrati is then accused of taking the chainsaw from his motor then starting it and revving its engine.
Kastrati allegedly shouted and swore at four police constables before running at them while brandishing the tool.
The attempted murder accusation states this was also to the danger of the officers’ lives.
Kastrati faces other charges of breach of the peace, driving without a valid licence or insurance as well taking a car without consent.
The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow where Kastrati’s legal team pleaded not guilty on his behalf.
A trial has now been fixed and is scheduled to begin in November 2025.
