Fresh twist as cops in Kenya probe theory Scots businessman may NOT have been murdered

KENYAN cops are now probing whether a Scot died after taking drugs with a mystery man he met in a pub.

A murder investigation was launched after Campbell Scott was found dumped in a remote forest.

His hands and legs were bound with rope and detectives feared he had been tortured and battered to death by crooks who wanted his cash.

One theory was that he was taken to a property in a notorious slum and held against his will while his bank accounts were drained.

, The SunThe Sun, Brit businessman goes missing in Kenya after ‘leaving luxury hotel’, A BRITISH businessman has reportedly gone missing in Nairobi after failing to turn up for a three-day workshop. Police have launched an extensive search for Campbell Scott, a senior director , , https://www.fico.com/blogs/author/campbell-scott[/caption]

But an autopsy has now ruled the injuries suffered by the businessman were “superficial” and wouldn’t have been enough to kill him.

Reporter Katherine Mwando revealed: “Sources close to the investigation said Scott may not have been murdered.

“But rather may have suffered complications after consuming a performance enhancing pill.

“He may have developed these complications while at Pipeline Estate Nairobi, the last location he was seen alive.

“His injuries may not have been from a violent attack.”

It’s understood pathologists are now carrying out toxicology tests on Campbell’s body to try and figure out how he died.

The businessman, originally from Dunfermline, Fife, flew into Kenyan capital Nairobi for a work conference.

CCTV caught him leaving his hotel on the day he checked in and heading to the Havana Bar in the lively Westlands district.

It’s thought it was there he met a mystery man who detectives have labelled a “person of interest”.

After about two hours Campbell, 58, headed back to his JW Marriott Hotel for the night.

The following morning he left at about 11am and is believed to have walked back to the same boozer.

Local media said he was reunited with the man from the previous day and the pair appeared to have struck up a friendship.

Cops revealed the unidentified male booked a taxi on his phone at 16.39 and the pair headed to a property in the dodgy Pipeline estate.

Campbell’s colleagues struggled to get in touch with him and called in cops, who launched a major search which became a criminal investigation.

His body was found almost a week after he was last seen dumped in the Makongo forest, 60 miles away from the city.

Locals claimed the body had been mutilated and put this down to him being tortured.

Cops arrested the taxi driver who picked Campbell and unidentified man up from Havana, as well as a waiter.

Officers have been trying to track down Campbell’s companion but have so far found no trace of him.

It’s understood Campbell’s family have now flown over to Kenya, while his body is lying in a funeral home.

Friend and neighbour Abi Edwards paid tribute to Campbell and told how he found her a flat in the same block as him and partner Simon Farrar.

She said: “We had regular coffee mornings where we laughed, smoked and put the world to rights.

“Most of our jokes were unrepeatable in polite company, or any company for that matter.

“He was so very good to me. Always knocked on the door to see if I wanted anything from the shops.

“Go well darling, naughty, loyal Campbell.”

Legendary Scots singer to headline major festival

SCOTS pop legend Lulu will headline this year’s Hebridean Celtic Festival in what she has said will be her final year of touring, the organisers have announced.

The Glasgow-raised singer first achieved UK chart success in 1964 with her single Shout, which she followed up with hits including the Eurovision-winning Boom Bang-A-Bang and the theme to James Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun.

The 76-year-old is one of a number of acts announced by the organisers of the festival – known as HebCelt – which takes place in and around Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis from July 16 to 19.

Lulu said: “I’m looking forward to visiting the Outer Hebrides and performing at HebCelt in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis – see you in July.”

Other big-name acts announced on Friday include Celtic rockers Skerryvore – now in their 20th year – as well as Mountain Music star Nina Nesbitt and Brit Award winner Eddi Reader.

Skerryvore accordionist and founding member Daniel Gillespie said: “This is a special year for the band as we celebrate 20 years of Skerryvore.

“To headline the Saturday night at HebCelt means the world to us as we remember playing McNeils Bar all those years ago and dreaming of playing the main stage of the festival.

“We can’t wait to see everyone on the island in July and have a very special show planned to celebrate 20 years.”

The 2025 festival also includes Tide Lines, Kassidy, internet sensation NATI., Laura Silverstone, and Feis Eilean an Fhraoich.

Michelle Shield, HebCelt’s artist programmer and director, said: “This year’s festival truly celebrates music across generations, from trailblazers like Lulu and Eddi Reader to the next generation of stars including NATI., Josie Duncan, and Lauren Collier.

“Our Celtic roots are proudly represented with Skerryvore marking their 20th year and consistently one of our most requested acts by fans, Highland heroes Tide Lines, and festival favourites like Trail West, Cala, and The Tumbling Souls.

“We’re also thrilled to spotlight talents like LUSA and Elias Alexander, alongside live sensations Beluga Lagoon, Tom McGuire & the Brassholes and Kassidy.

“There’s truly something for everyone at HebCelt, including cult Gaelic star Donnie Dotaman who lit up so many childhoods, and the talented young musicians from Feis who once again are opening the Island Stage on Saturday afternoon.

“This year’s festival also has the strongest line-up of female performers any of us can remember, from our headliners Lulu, Nina and Eddi to the likes of Madison Violet who have just announced this will be one of their last shows, plus new and exciting talent such as Laura Silverstone, Iona Mairead, Ciorstaidh Beaton and Isla Scott.

“We simply can’t wait to welcome music lovers of all tastes to what promises to be one of the most eclectic, vibrant, and memorable festivals yet.”

The organisers pointed out 70 per cent of the acts set to perform at this year’s HebCelt festival are female or have female members, and that it has had at least a 50:50 gender balance every year since 2014.

This year’s festival will also feature a special celebration of An Lanntair, the renowned arts centre in Stornoway, as it marks 40 years as a cultural beacon for the islands.

Last year some 17,800 people attended HebCelt, generating about £4.1 million for the local economy.

The organisers said the festival is expected to have generated more than £40 million in economic benefits locally by the time it marks its 30th anniversary edition in 2027.

Arsenal ‘expected to sign big-money midfielder with lots of work done on Sesko and notable exit in summer transfer plan’

IT IS set to be a busy summer ahead at Arsenal with planned moves for a new striker, new midfielder and new goalkeeper all being worked on, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta‘s side appear to have once again failed in their bid to win the title this season, with their 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest now leaving them 13 points behind Liverpool.

Arteta wanted to sign Ollie Watkins in January[/caption]

After three years of playing second fiddle to Manchester City and now Liverpool, to get them definitively over the line of winning the Premier League they are set to invest heavily in a new forward or two next summer.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports two big names in the attacking department.

The first is Newcastle‘s Alexander Isak, who Arteta “loves”, while the other is Benjamin Sesko, who Arsenal are said to have done a lot of work on to complete a deal.

Ornstein reports how Arsenal are in a strong financial position with PSR.

However, with other plans to bring in midfielder Martin Zubimendi and a new back-up goalkeeper, a major departure may be needed to ensure this PSR position is not compromised.

Ornstein also spoke about the influence of Arteta in the transfer process and how his voice impacted the recent January window.

He explained that while Arteta was a hugely influential voice and wanted to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, he does not control the purse strings at the Emirates.

Mathys Tel, who eventually signed on loan for Tottenham, was discussed internally but was not pursued as the club wanted a natural No9.

Arsenal suffered a huge blow to their title bid just days after the transfer window closed when Kai Havertz picked up a season-ending injury during the club’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

The club have failed to score in both of their last two games, which has all but ended their hopes of winning the title barring a miraculous comeback.

Arsenal ratings vs Forest as NOBODY looks like scoring for Gunners but Saliba's a Rolls Royce again

MIKEL ARTETA may not have anyone to put the ball in the back of the net but in William Saliba he has one of the best defenders in the Prem.

The Arsenal boss watched his side’s faint title hopes go well and truly up in smoke in the goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.

But his brilliant backline emerged, once again, with credit from this tricky clash at the City Ground.

Together with Gabriel, Saliba kept a tight lid on Forest dangerman Chris Wood, who scored a hat-trick in his last appearance on this ground.

But the fact the Gunners’ biggest threat at the other end of the pitch came from left-back Riccardo Calafiori – who was subbed off at half-time – says it all about the dire situation Arsenal somehow find themselves in.

Here is how SunSport’s Graeme Bryce rated the Gunners stars’ displays…

Posting her resignation letter on social media, Ms Dodds wrote: “It is with sadness that I have had to tender my resignation as minister for international development and for women and equalities.

“While I disagree with the ODA decision, I continue to support the Government and its determination to deliver the change our country needs.”

Chelsea chief Todd Boehly proposes dramatic rule change that would see EFL clubs become Premier League owners

TODD Boehly has proposed dramatic rule change to help bridge the gap between the Premier League and the Championship.

The under-fire Chelsea chief also took the chance to brush off the fan protest outside Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Fans descended before Tuesday’s league game against Southampton

Boehly drew upon his knowledge as an investor to suggest a ground-breaking rule change for the Prem to boost competitiveness.

Speaking at the Financial Times’ Business of Football summit, Boehly explained: “There is a bit of an unorganised landscape in European football.

“It reminds me of the Retail Sports Network market in America. There is a handful of things that needs to be sorted.

“One of the challenges is relegation in football. It’s hard to price. If everyone was equal, you’d have a 15 percent chance of relegation.

“But everyone isn’t equal, so you have to work out how best to address that valuation challenge.

“Relegation is cultural and not going anywhere. So why not every season when a team is in the EPL, you get one share of EPL stock and even if you go down you keep that stock.”

The gulf between the Championship and Prem cannot be understated.

Last season saw all three promoted sides, Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United, suffer immediate relegation for the first time since 1998.

The same fate currently awaits Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich, with the trio occupying the drop zone with 11 matches remaining.

But Boehly also shrugged off the fan protests which preceded Chelsea‘s 4-0 win over the Saints on Tuesday.

He said: “I just think it is par for the course.

“The sooner you learn you are not going to keep all the people happy all the time, the freedom shows up.

“We are just trying to execute a plan and recognise things aren’t linear, and we are trending in the right direction.

“The trend is moving in the right direction and that’s the thing that really matters.

“In June, it will be three years in charge. That’s not a lot of time, especially when you get to 50, 60 or 70 years old in life.”

On Chelsea‘s poor No 9 recruitment, he added: “Strikers are hard to find.

“You don’t go into the grocery store and say, ‘I’m going to get a striker‘.

“It is an amazing skillset and you also have to have a fantastic mentality.”

The final question by moderator Arash Massoudi was whether the ownership will change given the talk of disagreements between him and Clearlake.

He answered: “Listen, I can’t predict the future. If I could, I wouldn’t be here talking to you.”

As for Chelsea, Enzo Maresca’s side are well in the hunt for a top four finish after beating the Saints this week.

The Blues are one point adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City in fifth.

Chelsea ratings vs Southampton as Cole Palmer STILL can't score or assist... and gets a horror grade

CHELSEA reverted to winning ways as they smashed Southampton 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella set the Blues on their way to victory.

But there was STILL no joy in front of goal for Cole Palmer.

So, who was Chelsea’s best player on the night? And who had a game to forget despite the result?

Check out SunSport reporter Lloyd Canfield’s ratings, from nine… all the way down to TWO.
