‘Bro thought he’s Fergie’ – Man Utd fans react as Erik ten Hag’s plan for TEN-YEAR reign at Old Trafford is revealed
ERIK TEN HAG had planned for a ten-year reign as manager at Manchester United prior to his sacking last October.
That’s according to former Man Utd first-team coach Benni McCarthy, who has claimed Ten Hag had a vision for the future at Old Trafford.

McCarthy, 47, worked under Erik ten Hag for two years at Old Trafford before leaving the club during a coaching shakeup last summer.
But shortly after his departure, Ten Hag was sacked himself following a shocking run of form that had the Red Devils in languishing in 14th place
McCarthy, who has just been named as Kenya manager, spoke to BBC Africa about what it was like to work at United alongside the Dutchman, revealing his plans for a lengthy stay.
He said: “I was given an incredible opportunity to work with one of the biggest and best clubs in the world under the guidance of Erik ten Hag.
“I learned utmost professionalism because the manager I worked under was not just a disciplinarian, but he was the best and one of the most unbelievable professionals I’ve ever seen in the game.
“Extremely hard-working, very dedicated, very passionate, he planned on being the Manchester United coach for the next 10 years. That was his vision.”
Fans online reacted to the news that Ten Hag was planning on a long-term stint with the club.
One wrote: “He sure didn’t plan right”.

While another joked that Ten Hag was hoping to follow in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s 26-year spell in charge, writing: “Bro thought he was Fergie”.
United have failed to move the needle since new manager Ruben Amroim has come into the frame, now sitting in 15th place ahead of their clash against Arsenal.
However, even McCarthy can’t put his finger on what’s going wrong at the Theatre of Dreams.
He added: “Everyone is talking about how bad, how terrible Manchester United is.
“We still managed to win the FA Cup, we still managed to win the Carabao Cup. I was proud that I was part of that regime.”
Adding: “Honest to god, I don’t know what the issue is,’ the former Ajax striker admitted.
“It is just such a huge football club and the problems just seem to go on and on – and I don’t know how they’re going to resolve it.”
And even new boss Amorim has hinted that he is going to need years to turn things around, citing “deep scars” at Man Utd.
He told Sky Sports: “To tell you the truth, I feel sometimes there are scars in our team, in our players.
“They are good players, but they (scars) are so deep, they are so long here that it is hard to change things in one moment.
“Some players had one coach and then comes a new coach, new hope, new momentum and then we go to the same place.
“Imagine this for any person, in any job. Imagine this as a player, with all the media and social media. So it’s really hard to turn things around just like that.”

Dancing On Ice’s biggest final shocks from Joe Swash’s controversial win to presenter blunder
DANCING On Ice will crown a new champion on Sunday night – and literally anything could happen.
There’s no such thing as a dead cert in the ice skating world with mishaps lurking around every twizzle.

Michaela Strachan, Sam Aston and Anton Ferdinand are the last skaters standing and each will be hoping it’ll be alright on the night.
We take a look at finals shocks from years gone by from surprise winners, to injuries and presenter gaffes; the show has seen it all.
CAUGHT OUT

Stephen Mulhern proved a natural in his first series as co-host with Holly Willoughby last year.
He effortlessly replaced Phillip Schofield, after his This Morning scandal ended his working relationship with ITV, and reunited with Holly Willoughby.
But even professional Stephen wasn’t immune to a gaffe in the final.
Eagle-eyed fans spied him walking over to console Miles Nazaire and pro partner Vanessa Bauer before Holly had announced Ryan Thomas was the champion therefore spoiling the result.
He’ll be sure to bide his time this weekend.
SHOCK WINS

There’s often a heavy favourite going into the final, but it doesn’t always go the way of the bookies.
And this year’s frontrunner, Michaela Strachan, will not be taking anything for granted.
In the past, both Perri Kiley and Wes Nelson looked destined to become kings of the ice only for co-stars to pip them to the crown.
Diversity’s Perri performed multiple show firsts during his run to the final in 2020 including a backflip on the ice.
But it wasn’t enough to give him the win. Instead, Joe Swash skated to an unexpected victory.
While multi-talented Wes looked on course to succeed in 2019 but Strictly legend James Jordan rolled back the clock and took the title with a fluid final skate.
HORROR INJURIES

The Dancing On Ice rink is one of the most perilous settings of any reality show.
Injuries are commonplace as celebs strap sharp blades to their feet and learn daring moves on a slippery surface.
And final week is no time to get complacent.
Past winner Jake Quickenden was left sucking gas and air after dislocating his thumb before the finale.
Despite the painful setback, he battled through and skated to victory as a truly worthy winner.
Former Olympian Greg Rutherford wasn’t so lucky.
Hours before he was due to compete, he suffered a horrendous injury in rehearsals.
His stomach was sliced by a blade, effectively giving him a caesarean-like slash on his stomach.
He was rushed to hospital and spent weeks in pain as he recovered at home.
EARLY EXIT

Last year viewers couldn’t believe Adele Roberts was first to be eliminated in the final despite receiving a perfect score.
Her 40-point performance wasn’t enough to carry her all the way to the end and she received the least amount of votes from the public.
It meant the radio star was denied the chance to perform her own rendition of the iconic Bolero – made famous by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
After the result, fans couldn’t help but take to X – formerly known as Twitter – in their droves as they were left utterly enraged by the shocking result as they claimed the show was a “fix”.
