And the Merseysiders are moving in to their brand new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in the summer.

But club chiefs decided to give a few supporters a sneak peek ahead of next season.

About 10,000 fans were successful in a ballot for an Under-18s friendly against Wigan.

The fortunate Everton faithful took a seat at the 52,888-capacity ground, which will be the seventh biggest stadium in the Premier League.

And they watched the incredible venue shine bright as it was fully lit up at night.

The four-year project came at an estimated cost of more than £750million.

Bramley-Moore Dock will also be featured at the world stage soon as it has been selected to host matches at Euro 2028.

It is hoped the project will contribute an estimated £1.3billion to the local economy.

Everton‘s last ever home game at Goodison Park takes place on May 18.

The Toffees will host Southampton in what promises to be an emotional game.

The Merseysiders appear to be securing their place in the Premier League ahead of next season after David Moyes’ return at the helm.

Everton are 14th in the table with 13 points separating them from the relegation zone.

Emma Raducanu signs up to play in new tournament as women return to iconic venue for the first time in 52 years

LAURA ROBSON is hoping the new women’s event at Queen’s Club will one day have equal prize money with the men.

The prestigious Barons Court Tennis Centre will host the men’s ATP singles and doubles tournaments as normal in mid-June in the weeks before the Wimbledon Championships.

Laura Robson hopes to see equal prize money among women and men in the sport[/caption]

But it will open its doors a week earlier this time to welcome female players onto the grass-court grounds for the first time since 1973.

Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Naomi Osaka and Australia Open champion Madison Keys have signed up to play the HSBC Championships – it will carry 500 world ranking points for the champion – in the days after the French Open in Paris has concluded.

Online tickets went on sale last week for LTA Advantage members and they are now on general sale.

Robson, 31, is the new tournament director for the women’s tournament, having previously been in charge of the Nottingham Open.

Tommy Paul lifted the men’s trophy in June 2024 and received £350,000 for beating Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the final but the women will not receive cash parity this summer.

All four tennis Slams award the same prize for its two singles winners.

She said: “Across the tour, I’d love to see equal prize money happen and the WTA have all the investment coming in to try and be able to do that.

“But they’re a long way off. So I think it’s more of a tour issue year-round than just Queen’s on its own.

“You’d start at the top tier of the game and then hopefully you can filter that down.

“For Queen’s especially, being a new event, it’s not going to have equal prize money. Long term, that’s where we’d like to get to.”

Robson – winner of Olympic mixed doubles silver with Andy Murray at London 2012 – is ready for whatever is thrown at her in this new role.

Whether that is the complication of days of bad weather, schedule headaches or player complaints.

The former Wimbledon junior girls champion, who is a pundit on Sky Sports, said: “It’s a new event. You never know how it’s going to go.

“But we’re really lucky to have the combination of the men alongside it.

“I’m very positive about it. It’s going to be really great for the players who are involved and also the fact that women’s tennis is back in London.

“So, fingers crossed that everything goes to plan.

“The logistics are very hard because it’s a member’s club. So they are used to still having a lot of their own spaces when the tournament is still on.

“And we’ve taken over the women’s dressing room for the first time, which was harder than you’d think to get over the line.

“I couldn’t be more confident about the courts and the data that’s gone into seeing what is going to make them last longer.

“We’ve got less matches on Centre Court and on Court Two, more on the outside courts, to make sure that they’re still in perfect condition for the second week.

“I was tournament director at Nottingham for the last two years, which is stressful enough because it’s a combined event.

“In terms of scheduling, I feel like I’ve been through it with two years of utter trash weather in Nottingham. So as long as it’s not that stressful I’ll be okay.”

Shock moment mum confronts daughter’s 12-year-old bully in classroom in foul-mouth tirade raging ‘I’ll slit your throat’

THIS is the shocking moment an enraged pregnant mum stormed into a classroom and threatened to “slit” a young girl’s throat.

“You ever f*****g mess with my daughter again I’ll slit your f*****g throat,” the mum yelled in her dramatic outrage as she confronted the pupil.

She shouted: “I’ll be waiting for you. And that smart little **** over there, yeah, you know what, you’re just jealous because you’re a **** ****. You’re a **** ****.”

The mum revealed her reasons for her berating the young child at St. Paul’s College in Gilles Plains in Australia to 7 News.

She admitted her wrongdoing, but explained that her furious scolding only happened because her daughter had been targeted by bullies for more than a year.

She told 7 News: “I don’t want my daughter to be another statistic. I don’t want to have to bury my child.”

“She was crying, she was devastated that this child told her to go and hang herself.”

“That is a breaking point for any parent… I went into survival mode, and protective mode. I did let loose, unfortunately was a side I don’t show very often. But that was a tipping point for that day.”

She also said that the school did not properly pay attention to or resolve the issue after “begging” them for help.

“I did everything in my power as a parent and so did my husband to make sure our daughter was safe, especially dropping her off at school,” she said.

“The school has been negligent on their behalf, they have not done what they said (they’d) do. They have ignored all aspects about what we stated about the bullying with our daughter.”

“I have stated time and time again to the school that we are begging. We begged for help. We begged.”

Despite a rally of mums defending the emotional parent, she has since apologised for her behaviour.

The Adelaide woman’s actions were justified by scores of mums on social media who said they would have done the same if it were their child.

Footage of the February 3 incident, which went viral on social media, spawned a group of users who defended the mum’s actions called “Team Mumma Bear”.

South Australia Police are investigating the incident and confirmed the student who was yelled at was not physically injured, whilst St. Paul’s College said it is offering support to students who witnessed the incident.

In the video, the woman is seen being held back by a man who is believed to be her husband.

“You want to f*****g go, bitch? You want to f*****g go? You ever f*****g talk to my daughter again,” the woman shouted in front of students as the man attempted to push her away.

“I’m you f—ing worst night, bitch. I’m you worst f*****g nightmare,” she continued.

School principal Patrick Harmer said in response to the incident: “As this is subject to a police investigation, we cannot provide further detail at this stage.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students is of the utmost importance, and we are providing support to students who may have witnessed the incident.”

He also sent a letter to concerned parents of all children present at the time of the ordeal.

He wrote: “We provide an environment where the safety and wellbeing of all is our highest priority. We will continue to ensure the best possible support for our students and staff during this time.”

Who was Carol Morgan and how long did her husband Allen serve in prison for hiring a hitman to kill her?

CAROL Morgan was brutally butchered in the Bedfordshire shop she ran with her husband Allen, who paid a hitman to kill his wife.

But the case remained unsolved for over 40 years until a key witness opened up — here’s everything you need to know.

Who was Carol Morgan?

Carol Morgan was a 36-year-old woman who co-owned a shop with her husband Allen Morgan in Linslade, Bedfordshire.

In August 1981, she was found hacked to death in the shop she ran with her husband

The case remained unsolved for over four decades until developments led to her husband’s conviction.

Allen Morgan’s motive

Allen Morgan, now 75 years old, was found guilty of conspiracy to murder his wife Carol in 2024.

He hired a hitman to kill her Carol so he could pocket her fortune and start a new life with his mistress.

Morgan was engaged in an affair with his current wife, Margaret Morgan — then Margaret Spooner — at the time of Carol’s death.

He was having financial difficulties and felt he could not divorce her, which led him to orchestrate her murder.

It came into fruition on August 13 1981, when Carol was brutally attacked while working in their shop.

After his wife was murdered, Morgan lived off her life insurance with Margaret — who has since been cleared of all charges — as the pair fled to Yorkshire to start a new life.

Cold case

In 2018, the cold case was re-opened by Detective Superintendent Carl Foster from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.

He noticed holes in the original investigation and embarked on the six-year battle to put Morgan behind bars.

Now retired, Mr Foster told The Sun: “I made the decision to reopen it in 2018. I was head of the cold case unit and this case came up for review.

“When I read it I was just struck by how neither Allen Morgan, nor Margaret had ever been in the position where they were treated as suspects, or arrested or interviewed.

“The main reason for that was because Allen Morgan had manufactured this concrete alibi, where he wasn’t around that evening, he’d gone to the cinema with Carol’s children.

When we knocked on her door, her [the witness’] response was ‘I’ve been waiting 40 years for you to come here’

Detective Superintendent Carl FosterThe Sun

“The investigation was rightly focused on trying to identify who this murderer was, there was a lot of panic in the local community about such a horrific murder happening on their doorstep.”

A crucial breakthrough came in 2021, when officers re-interviewed an original witness called Jane Bunting.

Mr Foster described her as a teen who would have “by police standards be considered vulnerable”.

The former detective explained: “As a result of that the local authority asked Margaret to tutor her, but in Jane’s own words, she credited Margaret to saving her life and changing the direction.

“She was remarkably loyal to Margaret, and her relationship with the police was not great, she wasn’t a criminal, just a troubled child.

“She told us she thought that even if she’d told police what she knew at the time, they wouldn’t believe her.”

He added: “When we knocked on her door, her response was ‘I’ve been waiting 40 years for you to come here’.”

Witness Jane opened up about a conversation she had with Morgan and Margaret at The Dolphin pub, which took place shortly before the attack.

Mr Foster explained: “Allen and Margaret proceeded to have a conversation where Allen made it clear he wanted to get rid of Carol.

“He knew Jane was seeing a boy and asked if he knew anyone who could do it for them.

“The background is, Jane had been having a relationship with a married man and teenage jealousy made her say ‘oh I wish his wife was dead’, and Allen said ‘why don’t we do each other a favour, I will get rid of her for you and you can help me get rid of Carol’, or something along those lines.

“The conversation became so detailed and obvious it wasn’t a joke, she felt uncomfortable and walked out of the pub.

“The police had never been aware of that piece of evidence until we saw her in 2021.

“This was the vital piece of direct evidence that had been missing the whole time.”

Sentencing

The trial at Luton Crown Court lasted nine weeks, with a jury finding Margaret Morgan not guilty of conspiracy to murder.

On July 29, 2024, Allen Morgan was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years.

At the sentencing, Mr. Justice Martin Spencer described Morgan as a “wicked person”, emphasising that he was the only one who knew the identity of the hitman — a secret he had kept for four decades.

The identity of the hitman Morgan hired to kill his wife never came to light.
