RANGERS have issued 18 MILLION new shares, official documents have revealed.
Paperwork seen via Companies House has confirmed the transaction.
The document, received by Companies House on February 18, shows that the 18m shares were allotted by Rangers International Football Club PLC between December 20 and January 23.
However, it isn’t quite clear at this stage exactly what form the shares take, with regards to it being a cash injection or perhaps loans being converted into share equity.
The nominal value for each share is 1p, as is usually the case.
This, however, does NOT mean that each share cost 1p – this is just a face value assigned to an individual share when a company is founded and is the minimum price a share can be sold at.
All of the shares are accounted for but the amount raised does not yet appear to have been confirmed.
The Companies House document lists the ‘amount paid’ as 18million too.
This section usually states the actual amount that has been paid for each share.
In all other recent share issues raised by Rangers, the shares have been sold at 25p per share.
In February 2023, four million new shares were issued.
Each sold at 25p, that generated just over £1m for the Ibrox club at the time.
If that were the case again this time, it would generate £4.5m in this instance.
However – as mentioned – the make-up of this particular share issue isn’t totally clear.
Rangers’ website contains a ‘share information’ section, where it lists all of the club’s major shareholders and the number of shares they have.
This page has not yet been updated to account for the 18m new shares.
The website page still shows just over 487m shares as having been sold, while the Companies House data now accounts for 505m – including the latest issue.
