ITV Bullseye set for full series with superstar poised to sign as host after Christmas Special success

ITV are bringing Bullseye back permanently, with a series planned later this year and Freddie Flintoff poised to sign up as full-time host.

The rebooted darts gameshow, previously hosted by Jim Bowen in the Eighties and Nineties, was a huge hit for the channel over the festive season.

That convinced channel chiefs to push for it to be brought back, though its fate depended on Freddie agreeing to take the reins – and now they’re close to sealing the deal with him.

A TV insider said: “This was a no-brainer for ITV but they knew that a big part of the success of the Christmas special was down to its new host.

“So they’ve spent the past two months trying to convince him to take the plunge and it looks like Freddie is ready to make the commitment.”

The festive special aired on the Sunday just before Christmas, and the ambition is to bring it back on a Sunday teatime just as it used to back in its heyday.

It comes after it was revealed that the reboot of the show was ITV’s most-watched programme during the week that it aired.

It put channel chiefs under pressure to deliver a full series following the response from those watching at home.

Over 3.3m tuned in to see Freddie take over the presenting role held by the late Jim Bowen, and both critics and viewers were unanimous in their praise for the Ashes hero.

One viewer commented on X, formerly Twitter, that: “This already deserves a new series commissioned.

“They haven’t messed with the original format whatsoever and it shows.

“Flintoff absolutely class too. Get it sorted ASAP please ITV.”

Another wrote: “Loved the Bullseye reboot. Freddie Flintoff is a great presenter and as handsome as ever.”

Others branded it “The Luke Littler Show” because of the prominence of the teenage arrows star on the programme and how well he did – getting a score of 180 with his first three darts.

The festive show topped ITV’s ratings on Saturday and Sunday and eclipsed those tuning in for long-standing shows including The Chase and The 1% Club.

Men and women are allowed to use the same loo at the Lucky Cat, which opened this month on the 60th floor of 22 Bishopsgate, in the City of London.

But the customers’ saucy antics have left the 58-year-old Hell’s Kitchen star fuming.

He tells The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV tomorrow night: “We’ve got a problem with the toilets.

There are lots of couples going in there and treating it like the ‘mile high’ bathroom.”

But the steamy frolics aren’t the only problem the Scotsman is facing.

The restaurant, which also has branches in Mayfair, Miami and New York, features small figurines of a Japanese “Lucky Cat” — said to bring good fortune — on each table.

However, guests have been helping themselves, with hundreds going missing each week, totting up a £2,000 bill to replace them.

Gordon said: “The cats are getting stolen.

“There were 477 stolen last week — they cost £4.50 each!”

The Michelin-starred kitchen guru has opened more than 90 establishments worldwide since launching his first in 1998.

He said: “I would never have thought it would be here today.”

“Welcome to the world, Vinnie Alan Barker Hinchliffe,” she wrote.

“Born 18th February at 12:21pm, 6lb7oz.”

She referenced the tragic passing of her father Alan last year as she called Vinnie her “beautiful little heart healer”, and said there was a reason he’d been born in February.

“February is my Dad’s birthday month, my birthday month, … And now, it’s our Vinnies,” she continued.

“The signs, the comfort ,the joy, you really are just everything we have needed and more Vinnie.

“Now it’s time to meet your beautiful big brothers, and start the next chapter in our Hinch story.”

Baby Vinnie is the third child, and third son, for Sophie and husband Jamie.

And the post was quickly flooded with messages of congratulations from fans, and some of Sophie’s celebrity friends – including ex Love Islander Shaughna Phillips.

“How precious, heart healer for sure, congratulations to you all,” Shaughna wrote.

Sophie and Jamie are already parents to Ronnie, five, and three-year-old Lennie.

She revealed her pregnancy news back in October, in a short video announcement which showed Jamie painting the words “Baby boy #3” on a wall inside their house.

Ronnie and Lennie then added their hand prints around the message.

As the clip went on, a black-and-white filter faded away, revealing blue paint on the wall to signify that another boy is on the way.

It then cut to Sophie cradling her bump in a black catsuit.

She also paid tribute to her late dad in the announcement caption, following his “sudden and peaceful” death last April, which left her in “deep, unimaginable pain”.

“Heaven was too far to visit, so you sent us a special gift from up above,” she wrote.

When did Mrs Hinch's dad pass away?

Her father actually died on April 25, 2024, but his grieving daughter waited until she was ready to share the sad news with her fans.

In April 2023, Sophie revealed how she was taking a break social media after her dad ended up in hospital.

She said at the time: “My dad is in hospital at the moment guys. My dad has never been blessed shall we say with fantastic health – from his chest, his lungs, his heart.

“He’s always struggled you know.”

She heartbreakingly added: “I just want him to be happy.”

“I have no doubt you sent him to us Dad, to fill our hearts with so much love.

“I love you, Dad.

“Ronnie and Lennie’s baby brother. Our baby boy no. 3. Joining us in 2025. The three musketeers.”

“Bring on the carnage,” she jokingly added.

Sophie has been documenting her pregnancy on her social media pages, including the transformation of the room that will become the baby’s nursery.

However, she stopped short of revealing her actual due date – just dropping hints about how long she had left in posts on her Instagram Stories.

She previously revealed that the baby was “breech”, and asked for advice on how to “turn” him naturally.

“Anyone that’s had breech babies or can help out here, I don’t know how to move him!” she sighed.

But she then told fans in another update that he had turned, and was “ready to go”.

“Gladiator readddyyyyyy,” she had added.

Sophie also admitted her “nesting and cleaning” was “extreme” before her baby boy’s arrival, as she packed up all her pre-pregnancy clothes, adding she wouldn’t be fitting into them “anytime soon”.
