Jiraiya and Orochimaru’s similar quirk in Naruto
It is a known fact that Naruto manga blends history as well as mythology brilliantly within its premise. This applies to both Jiraiya as well as Orochimaru’s characters. Both characters are based on Japanese folklore and mythology.
While the Pervy Sage is fashioned on the character from Jiraiya the Gallant, the Snake Sannin is based on the mythical snake Yamata no Orochi. Both are legendary figures in Japanese mythology, which is reflected in the characters’ persona. Their Senjutsu prowess is one such example of this splendor.
Interestingly, the original series gives a glimpse of their strength, but the Shippuden series notches it up. From body morphing to toad oil, the anime left no stone unturned in showcasing their mastery of jutsu. This connects well with their title of the Sannin as well as their personality.

The Toad Flatness Shadow Manipulation is indeed a remarkable technique that underlined Sannin’s mastery of espionage. His knowledge and fluency in all three types of jutsu validate his status as a legendary sage. However, this isn’t the only time Kishimoto left us bedazzled with his one-hit-wonder jutsu.

Masashi Kishimoto deserves his due credit and acknowledgment for writing some of the most badass jutsu in his manga. Be it Sage Mode or Frog Kata; it showcased some of the rare techniques used by the characters. This also applies to side characters who stood out in their skillfulness in the series.
A great example of this is Onoki’s Kekkei Tota, which stands as a one-shot wonder. It is a higher form of combat that requires the blend of three types of nature transformations, and only Mu and Onoki were fluent in this. It is a shame this form never made a comeback, but it is for the best nonetheless.
The kekkei tota is a cut above the kekkei genkai in terms of its chakra absorption and usage. It was introduced in the War Arc and completely vanished. However, it made its comeback in the Boruto series. In all honesty, it stands as one of the iconic jutsu in the series.
Overall, Masashi Kishimoto gave his characters aura, depth, and gravity in terms of their personality but also their jutsu. And though kekkei tota is one instance, there are several one-hit wonder jutsu that make the series legendary in every aspect.
