“No one can do Harvey like Harvey does”: After ‘Suits LA’ First Episode, I’m Sure Gabriel Macht Will Be the One Who Gets This Show Canceled

I wanted to love Suits: LA, I really did. But halfway through the first episode, all I could think was – this ain’t it. The problem? It tried to be Suits without the one guy who made Suits legendary.

Harvey Specter wasn’t just another lawyer in a designer suit. He was the show. The attitude, the confidence, the mic-drop moments – no one else could touch that. And without him, this spinoff felt like a court case doomed from the start. If Suits: LA flops, it won’t be because it’s bad. It’ll be because Suits already did it better.

Harvey Specter’s shadow looms large and Suits: LA can’t escape it

I knew Suits: LA was going to struggle, but after watching the first episode, I’m convinced – Gabriel Macht will be the one who gets this show canceled.

Stephen Amell’s Ted Black is supposed to be the new face of the franchise, but let’s be real, he’s no Harvey Specter. Not even close. One fan summed it up perfectly on Reddit: “No one can do Harvey like Harvey does.”

The show tries so hard to give him that same magnetic, larger-than-life energy, but instead, it’s like watching a cover band fumble through a classic. Harvey had presence. Swagger. He owned every scene.

Ted, on the other hand, has to call himself a “badass.” That alone says everything.

And just when you think Suits: LA might carve out its own identity, they drop a three-episode Harvey Specter arc because even the showrunners know fans need the real deal to stay interested.

But honestly, that might backfire. Macht’s return will only remind everyone how much this show lacks. Instead of giving us something fresh, it highlights the gaping hole left by Suits.

The one bright spot? Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins. She’s got the sharp dialogue and commanding presence to stand on her own. But even she can’t escape the comparisons – her dynamic with Ted already feels like a watered-down version of Harvey and Donna.

The bottom line: Suits: LA captures the look and sound of Suits, but without a true heavyweight at the center, it just feels like a weak imitation. If it survives, it won’t be because of Ted Black. And if it tanks, well… no one can do Harvey like Harvey does.

Fans already losing faith in Suits: LA after messy premiere

Suits: LA dropped, and fans are already over it. The first episode threw a million characters at the screen without giving anyone a reason to care. The firm was in shambles from the jump, and the pacing felt like they crammed an entire season into one episode.

And don’t even get us started on the lead — trying way too hard to channel Harvey Specter when there’s only one Harvey Specter.

The one saving grace? Amanda, the pro-bono lawyer, actually felt like she belonged in the Suits universe. Some fans are willing to give episode two a shot, but if things don’t slow down and find their groove, this show might not last long.

Watch Suits LA on Apple TV & Peacock.
