MATT Gaetz has withdrawn his name from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general candidate.
The move comes as Gaetz is at the center of a federal sex-trafficking investigation by the House Ethics Committee on Capitol Hill.
Members of the House Ethics Committee are reportedly in possession of a bombshell chart complied by the Justice Department that allegedly details a web of payments Gaetz and his associates made to women involved in his drug-fueled sex parties from 2017 to 2020.
After meeting with Senators on Wednesday, Gaetz said he decided to withdraw his name from consideration as the next attorney general so as not to distract the Trump and JD Vance transition.
“I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback – and the incredible support of so many,” the former Florida representative said in a statement.
