Breaking the news to their followers, they thanked their loyal customers for their support.

Sharing the news on social media, the team said: “Dear guests!

“We are sad to announce that our restaurant is closing forever.

“We are grateful to each of you for the warm meetings, joyful moments and trust you have shown in us.

“Thank you for being a part of our history!

“We will forever cherish these memories. Sincerely, The Quay Street Kitchen Team.”

Customers were left devastated, with many taking to the comments section to share their heartbreak.

One person said: “Oh no! I’m absolutely gutted as my husband will be, every trip to Galway and there have been many meant dinner in your restaurant and it never failed us, 2 beautiful steaks and a bottle of Malbec.

“Staff and good always amazing. Best wishes to each and every one of you.”

“Blessings on whatever the future brings you.”

‘SAD TO READ THIS’

Even tourists were left devastated as many people would pop in for dinner on their travels to Ireland.

One person commented: “I’m sad to read this! Your restaurant was a highlight from our Europe trip.

“We would have loved to have visited you again! Wishing you all the best, with love from Australia.”

Another said: “Have enjoyed meals there when we travelogue Galway! Great food and drink, nice tables outside with a small wrap.

“Told everyone to stop there if they were going to Galway.

“Will miss it when I come back!”

‘BELOVED STORE’

Meanwhile, Irish shoppers have been left heartbroken as a “beloved” clothes store is set to close for good after 35 years in business.

The Denim Store on Cook Street in Cork first opened in 1990 – and will close for the last time at the end of February.

Owner Tim Heelan has decided to close the store after making the decision to retire.

He told Cork’s Echo: “I am 65 years old and turning 66 in May — retirement age, really — so that is why I am going.

“Retail was superb when I opened up. It was all local shops only. So, it was a different scene.

“Everybody used to come into the store at that time and buy. Saturday was the major day in town.

“Every young person used to come to town. But now the online is a big thing as well.”
