The late Kwaito star Mampintsha, born Mandla Maphumulo, may no longer be with us, but his name continues to make headlines. His sister, Pinky Gumede, has issued a stern warning to Moja Love, threatening to take legal action if she does not receive payment for her involvement in the upcoming reality TV show, Wena Wodumo.
The Dispute Over Payment
The reality show, set to premiere on 29 March 2024 on Moja Love’s Channel 157, is produced by celebrated TV personalities Thomas Gumede and Lungile Radu under their company, Parental Advisory Production.
The show aims to give viewers an inside look into the life of Mampintsha and his family, shedding light on their experiences following the star’s passing.
However, Pinky Gumede is not pleased with how the production has been handled. She claims she was not paid for her participation and is now demanding compensation before the show airs.
“Hell will break loose if this show is aired without my payment,” she warned.
Past Disputes with the Production Company
This is not the first time Pinky has had issues with Parental Advisory Production.
She alleges that they were also mistreated in previous seasons when the production company worked on the reality series uThando Lodumo, which followed the life of Mampintsha and his wife, Babes Wodumo.
According to Pinky, she and her family were not fairly compensated for their participation in two seasons of uThando Lodumo.
“We shot two seasons with them, and we were badly paid. Even then, we were ill-treated, and we had to fight for our money,” she claimed.
Following Mampintsha’s passing, Pinky said the production team approached them again about filming a third season, but the family was hesitant.
Initial Refusal to Participate in Season 3
At first, Pinky and her family refused to take part in the new season.
“We didn’t want to be exploited, and we just didn’t want to be part of it anymore. Besides, there was already too much drama happening, so we wanted out of it,” she explained.
However, she claims that Thomas Gumede personally reached out to them, apologizing for past issues and promising to handle things differently this time.
He reportedly urged them to think about Mampintsha’s child, emphasizing that their refusal to participate could negatively impact the child’s future.
“Based on this, we agreed but never signed any documents,” Pinky revealed.
Lack of a Formal Contract
Pinky claims that even though they agreed to be part of the show, they were never given contracts to sign.
Whenever she asked about the paperwork, she was allegedly told to “relax”.
She says she got the shock of her life when she stumbled upon the trailer for Wena Wodumo online, realizing that the show was moving forward without her receiving any payment.
Fighting for Her Late Mother’s Money
In addition to her own unpaid dues, Pinky is also fighting for money she believes is owed to her late mother, Zama Gumede, who passed away in 2023.
“But I will not stop demanding money. I also want my mother’s money; if they fail to pay me, I’ll sue them,” she stated firmly.
What Comes Next?
As the premiere date for Wena Wodumo approaches, it remains to be seen whether Pinky Gumede will take legal action or if Moja Love and Parental Advisory Production will reach a settlement with her.
For now, the controversy surrounding the show is gaining momentum, and fans are eager to see how it unfolds.
