Brandon Sklenar isn’t safe from the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni even if he claims to be ‘Team It Ends With Us’. After subtly withdrawing his earlier support for Lively, fans now suspect that Sklenar has already reaped the benefits from his association with Lively. Sklenar has been added to the cast of The Housemaid, a film made by Lively’s A Simple Favor director Paul Feig.
Sklenar joined Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in the project backed by Lionsgate and will play the role of Andrew, husband to Seyfried’s Nina. Fans speculated that the role came after Sklenar initially supported Lively in her legal drama against Baldoni.

Brandon Sklenar, who starred alongside Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, came to Lively’s support when she faced backlash during the promotions of It Ends With Us. When Lively filed the complaint against Justin Baldoni, he posted an Instagram story, “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, READ THIS.” (via Variety).
However, it was accused that Sklenar took Lively’s side because of all the love-bombing from Ryan Reynolds and Lively. He even accompanied Reynolds to a Wrexham game. While he has taken a more neutral stand recently, fans suspect that he has already landed a role using his new connection.
Lively and director Paul Feig joined forces on the 2018 film, A Simple Favor, which saw Reynolds promoting the project. Now, Feig has cast Sklenar in the male lead role in his new film, The Housemaid, and fans can’t help but think that Lively and Reynolds called in for a favor. Baldoni’s fans brutally bashed Sklenar for reaping the benefits of this friendship.

Brandon Sklenar takes a more neutral stance on Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni drama
Despite suggesting that he was Team Blake through this story, Brandon Sklenar has recently changed his story. While promoting the second season of his series, 1923, CBS Mornings host Gayle King asked Sklenar whether he was “Team Blake or Team Justin” in the ongoing legal drama. Sklenar responded with a laugh, sharing that he was “Team It Ends With Us.”
Sklenar’s move was more diplomatic, as he shared how the legal drama was actually taking away the message of the film. He shared that he did the movie because he personally knew someone who went through what Lily Bloom experienced in the movie. However, he shared that it was unfortunate how the story got convoluted after the legal drama between Lively and Baldoni. He shared:
I just want people to remember why we made the movie in the first place and what it stands for, and just keeping the focus on that. I have someone very close to me who’s gone through what [Lively’s character Lily is] going through for a long time, and I’ve been on the front lines helping her navigate that space, so that movie meant a lot to me and it means a lot to her.
It was one of the reasons that me doing the movie gave her the strength to change her life. It’s unfortunate that things get taken away from what the ethos of that thing is and it gets convoluted.
While Sklenar took a neutral stand, many fans accused him of slowly pulling away from the controversy after initially supporting Lively. A trial in the legal case between Lively and Baldoni is set for March 9, 2026.
