Donnie Wahlberg’s Getting ‘More and More Sad’ About ‘Blue Bloods’ Series Finale Fast Approaching

Though he initially said he was “not sad” over Blue Bloods ending, it seems like Donnie Wahlberg has totally changed his tune.

In a post on his X account following season 14, episode 15 of the show on November 15, the emotions were flowing for Donnie, 55.

“Can’t wait til next episode,” he wrote. “Though, I am hoping they don’t come along too fast. This is getting more and more sad the closer we get. But I’m here – #UntilThereAreNoFridaysLeft #BlueBloods.”

He attached a photo of himself when he was younger with his hands on his hips next to a photo of him in the present day doing the same pose. Fans rushed to the comments section to voice their support for the star, who has portrayed Danny Reagan on all 14 seasons of the series since 2010.

“And we’re with you every second of every last episode #BlueBloods thank you,” one person responded to Donnie’s post, while another said, “I’m so sad to see this show leaving. Since it began, I have looked forward to a new episode each week and was never disappointed.”

“Boy you got that right. It is getting harder to watch without getting emotional. That last episode is gonna wreck me,” another fan said, while another person penned, “Fridays are now, more than ever, about savoring every moment. We are with you!!!”

Previously, Donnie told TV Guide Magazine that he wasn’t “sad” about CBS canceling the show, but more so “incredibly grateful” for the memories made on the series and the opportunity to appear alongside such a talented group of actors.

The New Kids on the Block Singer addressed what was to come in the series finale of the show.

“There are a lot of questions that audience members have had for a long time that I think will be answered if not teased in a way that will give you answers for where people’s lives may go in the future,” he told TV Insider on October 23.

Of course the question on everyone’s minds is if a Blue Bloods spinoff will ever come to fruition.

“Whatever happens next, if it’s done with the spirit of Blue Bloods and done with the care that we tried to put into Blue Bloods every week, it would be something that I would look forward to watching or being a part of either way,” Donnie said during an October 17 interview with TV Insider. “I’ve heard stories of prequels, sequels, you name it. For me personally, I love the show. I’ve enjoyed working on it for 14 years and like I said, whatever comes next, as long as it has family at its core and the spirit of Blue Bloods, then I’m all for it.”

The final episode of Blue Bloods will air on December 13 on CBS. Prior to that, the network announced that a one-hour special called Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy will air on Friday, November 29, featuring interviews from the cast, secrets from the show and memories that the cast will never forget.
