IT’S the beauty buff favourite that sent us all wild two years ago.
And now The Ordinary is bringing back the viral Serum Foundation two years after discontinuing its make-up line.

The Serum Foundation will be on sale as of tomorrow, February 21st, for just £6.40[/caption]
The Deciem-owned skincare brand’s “fan favourite” Serum Foundation is returning in its full 36 colour shade range due to a popular demand.
The beauty bag essential will be on sale from 21st February for just £6.40 – however, customers will have to be quick, as it’s here for a limited time only.
“The Ordinary foundations were discontinued in 2022, however, due to the community consistently asking for these formulations to return (yes, we saw all the comments), The Ordinary listened,” read a statement from Deciem.
“Without community feedback, we would not have been able to grow Deciem and The Ordinary to what it is today – so these moments of giving back are fundamental to the brand.”
The Ordinary discontinued its foundations and concealers two years ago following the decision of its parent company Deciem to streamline its brand portfolio.
The Ordinary said in a post about the phase out that its make-up range had not garnered enough fans to make the cost of production worthwhile.
The Ordinary’s Serum Foundation, which is ideal if you want to achieve that natural glow, can be purchased on the brand’s website.
It will also be available at four of The Ordinary’s free standing stores from March 2025.
Engineered to spread easily and blend seamlessly, the serum-like formulation has a real-skin finish and is compatible with most primers.
What’s more, the high-spreadability formula offers a natural look and resists collecting in fine lines.
This formulation is designed to be suitable for all skin types and available in a range of 36 shades.
According to the brand, the shades are divided into four categories:
- 1 for lighter tones
- 2 for medium tones
- 3 for dark/deep tones
- 4 for deeper tones.
Biggest beauty mistakes

Fabulous’ Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do’s and don’ts when it comes to beauty.
“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you’re not getting the basics right, the rest is wasted.
“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes sabotaging your regime.”
- Not wearing SPF: Sun-damage is the main cause of premature skin ageing, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital.
- Using expired products: Best case, they’re ineffective and don’t deliver the results they promise, worst case they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products differ – for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months while lipstick can last for 9-18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and will have a number inside for how many months it’s safe once opened. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it away and start again, marking the month and year with a permanent marker on the packaging.
- Not knowing your undertones: If you’re using make-up with the wrong undertones, it’ll never look natural no matter how much you blend it! An easy trick to work out whether you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they’re green, you have warm and if they’re a mix you have neutral.
- Skipping heat protector: It might feel unnecessary, but much like sun damage on the skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So, if you want shiny, healthy hair, or you’re trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key.
- Not washing your face before bed: it’s as simple as this, if you’re not washing your face before you go to sleep, everything that’s been on your skin during the day is sitting there for even longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare applied on top isn’t going to be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’re probably going to end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!
Each category is then classified further by a second digit from 0 to 4 to indicate depth within each category.
Finally, a letter is added to the shade code to identify the undertone:
P (Pink) and R (Red) indicate cool undertones, N indicates a Neutral tone and Y (Yellow) indicates a warm undertone.
Three of the shades have an additional letter at the end which use natural-looking and exceptionally fine dispersions of metallic effect pigments for added highlight.
S indicates silver highlights while G indicates gold highlights.
‘Best foundation ever’
Online, the bargain buy boasts an impressive 4.4-star rating, with some dubbing it the ”best foundation ever”.
One fan of the beauty must-have said: ”The result is simply stunning. I have some hyperpigmentation, as well as freckles which are barely visible.
”I am happy to have gone out of my comfort zone and tried something new. Thank you The Ordinary!”
Someone else also had nothing but good things to say, writing: ”I bought this one and I LOVE it! It’s exactly what I’ve been wanting – hydrating, thin, dewy, covers uneven skin tone and leaves skin looking soft – not laminated.
”AND! The best of all – it does not enhance the eye wrinkles! Another big reason why I stopped using concealer and other liquid products. Absolute gem!”
”I bought this several months ago, and it was single-handedly THE best decision I ever made,” a third was singing praises.
”The wear of this foundation is comparable to my Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation BUT EVEN BETTER.”
