A POPULAR Irish store is set to close due to rising costs – with locals saying “it’s a big loss”.
The Iciar French Cheese Bar in Blackrock, Co Dublin will close at the end of this month.

The food joint is a popular French bar and deli that was a top spot for the past three years.
And it is now set to close its doors on February 28.
The owner Julien has expressed his gratitude to everyone who has been part of the journey.
Taking to Instagram, they said: “Unfortunately due to ongoing rising operating costs, we regrettably have to close our Frascati store on 28 February.
“Thank you so much for all your loyal support and custom over the past three years.
“Aurevoir and see you soon in Whelehans.”
However, the owner revealed that customers will still be able to get their products at Whelehans Wines in Loughlinstown.
This joint will serve cheese platters, coffee, lunches, and baked goods; catering services can still be booked through their website at www.iciar.ie.
They added: “Iciar is now open in Whelehans Wines in Loughlinstown.
“You can still order cheese platters, boxes and catering services on our website (www.iciar.ie).
“We are pleased to inform you that all our products at Frascati are also available at Whelehans (cheese, coffee, lunch, bakery, deli, etc.).”
The food spot thanked their loyal customers, whose support allowed them to grow over the years.
Customers rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the closure.
One person said: “This is too sad … always my Saturday treat.”
Another person commented: “Best of luck to Julien and team. Look forward to travelling to Whelehans.”
Meanwhile, in Cork, Roastie Restaurant in Midleton has revealed on Facebook that it has also decided to close.
They said: “Due to the ongoing challenges facing the hospitality sector, we have made a very tough decision to close Roastie Restaurant in Midleton.
“This has been a tough decision to make as we have worked tirelessly to build a small family run business.
“Thank you all once again from the bottom of our heart. We will miss all our Roastie family but will always remember the love and support you gave.”
And punters said they were sad to hear the news.
One wrote: “So sad to hear this. You will be missed so much.
“Amazing food. So sad that businesses are closing due to no fault of their own.
“Wishing each member of the management and staff all the very best for the future.”
