When you think of celebrities, you think of elegance and people who are poise. However, even they sometimes say the most unhinged things you have ever heard, making you do a double-take. Ah, celebrities, they’re just like us. One good example is actress Charlize Theron, the epitome of grace and glamor. While promoting her 2008 film with Will Smith, Hancock, Charlize Theron had a hilarious answer to one of the most-asked questions of all time.
When asked which superpower she would like to possess, Charlize Theron didn’t go for the basic options. Instead, she surprised us, and Will Smith with her reply, making him burst into laughter.
Charlize Theron’s dream superpower
Come on, we have all at least once thought about which superpower we’d want. And while flying, invisibility, and teleportation seem to be some of the most common answers, Charlize Theron knew just what she wanted her superhero to do – see people in their most vulnerable state, if you know what we mean.
While promoting Hancock with Will Smith (via YouTube), they were asked about their choice of superpower, to which she very casually replied, “I’d like to see you all naked.”
Not only the audience, but Smith also erupted into laughter before adding to Theron’s joke, pointing to a man in the crowd and saying, “Not that guy. Not him, no, definitely not him.”
Theron wasn’t going to let her co-star get the last punch, so she quipped, “I saw him naked last night,” earning her another laugh from Smith. Theron, who will soon be seen in The Old Guard 2, probably made that random man’s day!
The “boring” superpower Charlize Theron would choose
Well, seeing people naked against their will could get superhero Theron in trouble with the law. Thus, if she had to choose a power that would keep her out of the bars, she would choose flight.
Despite the fact that she is terrified of flying, Theron does not want to feel as if she is missing out on all the fun. Guess, if there is something she is more afraid of than flying, it is FOMO.
She stated,
You know, it’s so boring but everybody probably says you’d wanna fly. Even though I’m terrified of flying. But I would feel like I’m missing out on something, so that would probably be the boring answer.
As for which superhero she would want to be, of course, she was gonna name the one sitting next to her – Hancock. She said, “I’d be Hancock. I’d say, ‘You know what? Everybody for themselves.’ That’s it. And I would drink. I would drink and fly. I wanna be Hancock, pretty much that’s what I wanna be.”
In a world of Superman and Iron Man, Hancock was an alcoholic and reckless superhero, trying to remember his past, and messing things up wherever he went. He was shunned and ridiculed by his people before he was able to turn his life around.
Hancock was a box office success making $624 million at the box office on a budget of $150 million (via The Numbers). The critics weren’t too kind to the film but hey, everyone’s entitled to their opinions!
