On the last day of middle school, he visits a shrine where the God of Love explains that because of some error, Rentaro Aijo will have 100 soulmates, and he will find them once he enters high school and meets new people.
However, things start stirring up when Rentaro finds out that he will have to equally love all of his 100 soulmates; otherwise, they will die a horrible death. Thus begins his journey of finding his 100 soulmates and distributing his love equally among them. And while the narrative is indeed intriguing, what makes it even more interesting is its humor and other comical elements.
The series has a habit of portraying parodies or breaking the fourth wall, which only adds more substance to the comedy of the story. The 100 Girlfriends is filled with ridiculous elements, and while the comedy may seem out of order at first, it slowly gets mixed with the other elements of the story, making for a great narrative.

Episode 6 of the second season of The 100 Girlfriends was recently released on February 16, 2025, and it has instantly become one of the most trending episodes of the entire series. This is because of the iconic Dragon Ball parody that was featured in the episode, during the practice baseball game between Rentaro’s team and the Jurassic school team.
During the practice match, Jurassic School’s team makes fun of Shizuka, Rentaro Aijo’s third girlfriend. This angers the entire team, who then transform into Super Saiyan, or as the series refers to them, the Super GFaiyans. Not only that, they also showcase a unique rendition of the dangerous Kamehameha attack, which steals the show.
Another Dragon Ball reference that The 100 Girlfriends feature is the introduction of the God of Love as Master Roshi. All these parodical moments in The 100 Girlfriends were quite funny and thus made the series even more popular among anime fans.
