Punters gutted as ‘best pub ever’ near Glasgow announces shock closure

A MUCH-LOVED pub near Glasgow has announced its shock closure – leaving punters gutted.

The Horse & Barge, located in the Dalmuir area of Clydebank, is known for its live music, pub quizzes and karaoke nights.

But staff have now pulled the shutters down on the popular boozer, following a “tough” period.

A post shared on Facebook reads: “Sorry, we’re closed. As of today we are closed for business.

“Unfortunately working under a brewery has been tough and have made the decision to close as a result.

“We would like to thank you all for your custom!”

The Horse & Barge previously closed its doors in October 2022 after the pub was embroiled in a sex scandal.

We previously told how the then boss was left “mortified” after X-rated snaps of him having a three-way romp on a pool table were leaked on social media.

The boozer later reopened in 2023 after a new tenant took it over.

Regular pubgoers flocked to react to the sad news of its closure.

One wrote: “Absolutely gutted great boozer with the best punters. Gonny miss them”.

Another added: “Best pub ever will be missed forever”.

A third said: “Sad but not surprising..I had hoped that the people who went elsewhere would make their way back, but apart from a few of us it didn’t happen.. thanks and best wishes to all the brilliant staff.”

Elsewhere, a historic Scots family-run business is set to cease trading after more than 100 years.

And a popular retailer is set to close its doors within weeks – leaving locals in a Scots town devastated.
