Spider-Man actors aren’t too amazing when it comes to concealing secrets, whether it be spoiler king Tom Holland or Andrew Garfield. However, to the latter’s credit, even after a food delivery driver disclosed his No Way Home return, which broke the internet, Garfield continued to deceive fans until the film’s eventual release.

However, J.K. Simmons, who has been in the game for decades, has no intentions of imitating the webhead’s mishaps regarding his potential future in the next Spider-Man feature.
J.K. Simmons refuses to elaborate on his Spider-Man future

With the filming for the next installment in the franchise set to begin this year, fans are curious whether this will be another multiversal epic or a return to the character’s roots. As for the casting, other than Tom Holland and Zendaya, no major MCU return has been confirmed so far, which makes sense, as the script might still be in the works.
Although, in theory, J.K. Simmons‘ return seems like a given, the actor, who played Jameson in the last two entries, left his MCU future ambiguous. When asked if he is in the upcoming Spider-Man flick, the actor amusingly replied (via Screen Rant):
No spoilers. Sorry, I’m not telling.
While his statement does offer some hope, considering the film is stuck in pre-production, the Whiplash star could still be in the dark about his MCU future.
Andrew Garfield’s entertained MCU return under one condition

With fans still in the dark about the scale of the next Spider-Man movie, many are once again buying into the rumor that Garfield is involved, especially after the latter’s stance on potentially stepping into the webhead’s shoes again.
Given how much the role meant to him and how healing his experience on No Way Home was, Andrew Garfield entertained the prospect of a potential return. On the flip side, it’ll take the right story to entice him back (via THR).
For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.
It’s also important to take note that Spider-Man 4 is slated to release between Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, which means another multiversal epic might not be out of the cards.
Spider-Man 4 is slated to release on 24 July 2026.
