A LUCKY EuroMillions winner has told how their partner didn’t believe them after sharing the “good news”.
The player from Co Mayo won an incredible €500,000 from the EuroMillions Plus draw on Tuesday, January 21.
The winner purchased their winning ticket online.
Speaking to the National Lottery, the winner said: “I was in the break room in work when I checked my ticket.
“I immediately rang my partner and told her the good news.
“She didn’t believe me and thought I was winding her up.
“She told me to swear on my dog’s life.
“Only when I swore on my dog’s life did she believe me!”
Asked about how they intend to use their winnings, the winner said: “It’s not every day you win €500,000, and I look forward to properly marking the occasion.
“A once in a lifetime trip is on the cards, a first-class ticket to somewhere off the beaten track!”
A Dublin player also claimed an incredible €98,954 after successfully matching 5 numbers and the bonus on Saturday, 14th December Lotto draw.
The player purchased their ticket from SuperValu, 7 Lorcan Avenue, Santry, Dublin 9.
They said: “I overheard people in the same shop I had bought the ticket in, saying the shop had sold the winning ticket, I never thought it would be my ticket – but it was worth checking!
“This is a life-changing amount of money, and it is still yet to sink in”.
Asked if the player has any plans to spend the prize, they said: “Once I get over the shock of the win, I would really like to treat myself to a trip to see an F1 race!”
Meanwhile, another player, also from County Dublin, secured €85,023 after successfully matching 5 numbers and a lucky star in the EuroMillions draw on Friday, January 17 draw.
The winning ticket was purchased online.
Speaking to the National Lottery, the delighted winner said: “When I saw the amount, I thought it said €85 and 20 cent – when I realised it was €85,023, I thought ‘Wow this cannot be real’.
“I’ve no immediate plans for the prize; a large amount will be used to lower my mortgage – after that maybe a nice trip away!”
National Lottery spokesperson, Darragh O’Dwyer said: “We are thrilled to welcome our latest winners at National Lottery HQ today and to celebrate these fantastic wins with them.
“Players dreaming of becoming Ireland’s newest EuroMillions winner are reminded that tickets for Tuesday night’s draw can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at http://www.lottery.ie.”
