SIR Keir Starmer held a phone call lasting around 20 minutes with Donald Trump yesterday amid intense diplomatic efforts to find a Ukraine peace deal.
The Prime Minister told the US President he was hoping for a “positive outcome” for talks in Saudi Arabia – triggering the return of sharing intelligence and military aid to Kyiv.

Downing Street said that UK officials had been speaking to Ukrainian officials this weekend and they remain committed to a “lasting peace”.
The call came as the PM holds a virtual summit of the “coalition of the willing” on Saturday for allies who have expressed interest in supporting a peacekeeping mission if a deal is struck with Moscow.
Intense diplomatic activity to help bring an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine are taking place all over the world.
Military chiefs will meet in France this week while talks between Ukraine and the US are taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin join military counterparts in France today along with Nato and European Union representatives.
Defence Secretary John Helaey will meet opposite numbers from France, Germany, Italy and Poland in the French capital tomorrow.
Ministers from the G7 including Foreign Secretary David Lammy will also meet tomorrow.
Number 10 said: “Each of these meetings is obviously progressing the planning.
“I’m not going to get ahead of proposals being made public but obviously these discussions are ongoing, as you can see from these meetings.”
