A POPULAR community pub has announced it will close for good after “losing the battle” to survive.
Bosses at the Salutation Bar in Kinross confirmed “with great sadness” that the pub will pull down its shutters for the final time on Sunday.

The Perthshire venue made the announcement in a social media post, thanking locals for their support over the years.
The post read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the Salutation Bar will close its doors on March 16.
“We tried for a long time, but unfortunately, we lost the battle.
“We would like to give a massive thanks to our customers over the years for their support – including those who are no longer with us.
“We hope you can join us on Sunday, 16 March, for our final shift.
“Once again, a massive thank you for the laughs – and not forgetting the grief you’ve given us over the years.
“We thank you all.”
Devastated punters flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts on the disappointing news.
One wrote: “Sad to hear that, ladies. End of an era! Thanks for all you have done, and I wish you both well for the future.”
Another said: “Sorry to hear this. We need pubs in communities.”
A third added: “See you Saturday – get that karaoke machine out for one last round!”
It is understood that the Salutation Hotel – which is connected to the property – is not affected by the closure.
It comes as popular high street restaurant is set to close down after serving diners for nearly 40 years.
Carlo’s, a fixture of Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway is closing down in May.
For over 38 years, the restaurant has been serving authentic Italian cuisine to the heart of the town centre, becoming a cherished local institution.
However, the owners Carlo and Heather Bignami have announced that the restaurant will permanently close its doors on May 31.
