Naruto: A Cold Hard Truth About Mangekyo Sharingan Confirms Shippuden Sasuke Was a Dumba**

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the coolest and strongest characters in Naruto. This is something fans would agree upon considering his feats in the series. From mastering dojutsu to clan techniques, he is only second to his brother, Itachi. However, a moment in the series might contradict this.

To be specific, this has to do with his Mangekyo Sharingan as some fans pointed out in a discussion thread. Not only did they compare him with his brother, but it made one thing certain. His character in Shippuden is truly foolish. But is he? Let us find out.

The cold hard truth about Mangekyo Sharingan in Naruto

There are indeed several inconsistencies in the power system in Naruto. It is interesting nonetheless, especially considering the kekkei-genkai. Now, initially the first kekkei-genkai or the bloodline jutsu we were shown is the Sharingan. It is also one of the most powerful dojutsu in the series.

Call it overpowered, but the Sharingan and its power knows no bounds, especially with the Genjutsu. It took a brutal turn with the way Itachi tortured Kakashi and it was a horrifying sight. Indeed, with great power comes great responsibility but it also comes with its fair share of pitfalls.

One of them is deterioration of vision that both Itachi and Kakshi experienced. It is a visual prowess, yes, but even a great dojutsu as this isn’t exempt from setbacks. Chakra drainage is another one, but what renders it useless in the long run is blindness and Sasuke may have been close to losing it all.

On Reddit, fans had all the legit reasons that pointed to the character’s foolishness.

It is almost insane that the character went all out in his usage of the dojutsu. Some would even call it stupid but this ties in well with the classic case of bad writing. Let’s not forget that he was subject to nerf as well in the series. But the series made him look like a dum-dum.

A dum-dum or a badly written character?

Sasuke might be a cool and strong character, but he isn’t spared from hatred in any sense. This extends to his motives and ambitions, especially after Itachi’s death. He was almost laughable when he spoke out his proclamations, but we were too quick to judge him.

His path to villainy wasn’t something that happened overnight but is something that happened gradually. This is true for the Uchiha clan massacre and Itachi’s death that made him choose the path to darkness. Itachi’s torture, too, affected him immensely, but that is not all there is to it.

A life filled with love was stripped from him by Konoha and it was natural for him to hate the village. Decades back, fans deemed it to be a hellhole for ninjas as well as children in most aspects. But it also boils down to him being a flawed character which only proves that he is not a dum-dum.

As a flawed character, his villainy and his choices seem valid considering what he went through. His parents and his brother’s loss is too great not to revolt against the village. The inconclusivity of his actions is what has most fans deeming him a badly written character.

Naruto: Shippuden is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Shueisha’s Manga Plus app.
