Hon. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo has criticized the tone of the Economic Dialogue, saying it was largely filled with complaints rather than forward-looking solutions.
He remarked, “Right from President Mahama’s inauguration to the State of the Nation Address and now this Economic Dialogue, it has all been about lamentations.
“It’s the same message—blaming the previous government. But if you are leading a country, the focus should be on the future.”
He further argued that discussions on debt should be contextualized. “You can’t just talk about liabilities without mentioning assets.
“If there is an accumulation of debt, what did we use the money for? There have been unprecedented infrastructure projects, free SHS, and other social interventions.
“That should also be part of the conversation,” he said while speaking on The Big Issue with Selorm Adonoo,
Addressing concerns about unfinished projects under Agenda 111, he stated, “People keep shifting the goalpost. First, they say nothing has been done.
“Then, when you show progress, they say it’s not operational. But you need resources and personnel to run a hospital.
“If health workers are being dismissed, how do you expect new hospitals to function?”
His comments add to the ongoing national debate about Ghana’s economic challenges and the best path forward.
